Boneta to Star in the Mystery Thriller “A Bend in the Road”

The 25-year-old Mexican actor/singer has signed on to star in director/writer David Frigerio’s A Bend in the Road, which is set to go before the cameras next year.

The mystery thriller centers around step-sisters who are at odds with each other after the sudden, tragic death of their respective parents. With a $100M in inheritance at stake, one of the young heiresses hires a drifter to kill her stepsister.

Pitch Perfect actress Alexis Knapp is currently in talks to join.

Frigerio, who wrote the Aaron Paul horror thriller Wreckage and the sci-fi thriller The Signal, will direct A Bend in the Road from his own script written with Suzanne Fitzpatrick from a story he co-penned with Darby Parker.

Boneta’s film credits include a starring role in movie adaptation of the hit Broadway musical Rock of Ages, as well as Eden and Before I Fall.

His television credits include appearances on Pretty Little Liars, 90210, Jane the Virgin and Scream Queens.

Ferrera Among Celebrities Appearing in A Capella Video in Support of Hillary Clinton

The 32-year-old Honduran American actress appears in a special Elizabeth Banks-produced a cappella music video in support of the Democratic Party’s nominee for President of the United States.

In a nod to the Pitch Perfect films she produces, Banks, along with Bruce Cohen and Mike Thompkins, recruited a long list of Hollywood actors and singers, including the former Ugly Betty star, for an a cappella version of Rachel Platten’s “Fight Song.”

In addition to Ferrera, other Hollywood elit appearing in the video include Eva Longoria, Kristin Chenoweth, Rob Reiner, Mandy Moore, Alan Cumming, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Idina Menzel, Renee Fleming, Aisha Tyler, Jane Fonda, Sheryl Crow and, at the very end, Sia with a loud and proud, “Go Hillary.”

Del Rio Joins the Cast of Fox’s Upcoming Musical “Grease: Live”

The 28-year-old Latino actor has joined the cast of Fox’s upcoming musical Grease: Live.

Del Rio, who starred in the Broadway musical In the Heights, will portray T-Birds’ Putzie in the live event.

Del Rio joins the ensemble cast that includes Julianne Hough (Sandy), Aaron Tveit (Danny), Vanessa Hudgens (Rizzo), Carlos PenaVega (Kenickie), Keke Palmer (Marty), Carly Rae Jepsen (Frenchy) and Kether Donohue (Jan).

Meanwhile singer, Jessie J, will open the live event with a new version of “Grease (Is the Word).” The Bee Gees’ Barry Gibb wrote the song, which originally was performed by Frankie Valli in the animated opening title sequence of the movie and went on top the pop charts.

Also joining the creative team is Glee and Annie choreographer Zach Woodlee. His credits also include the 100th episode of How I Met Your Mother and 2008’s MTV Movie Awards, as well as the films Eat Pray Love, Hairspray, 27 Dresses and 17 Again.

Thomas Kail and Alex Rudzinski are directing the production, which Fox airs on Sunday, January 31 — live in the East and delayed in the West.

Del Rio’s other credits include Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, The Troop, Pitch Perfect and Spare Parts.

Angelica Maria to Star in Epix’s Original Series “Graves”

Things are looking grave for Angélica María

The 70-year-old Mexican-American actress and Grammy-winning singer-songwriter has been cast opposite Nick Nolte and Susan Sarandon in the Epix original series Graves.

The single-camera half-hour political satire produced by Lionsgate also stars Pitch Perfect’s Skylar Astin and Chris Lowell (Veronica Mars).

In Graves, 25 years after his presidency, former Commander in Chief Richard Graves (Nolte) has the epiphany that his policies have damaged the country for decades and so, with his young assistant (Astin), he goes on a Don Quixote-like journey to right his administration’s wrongs just as his wife (Sarandon), the former First Lady, decides to follow her own political ambitions.

María will play Ramona Alvarez, the wry housekeeper who has worked for President Graves since before he was elected and, as a result, grown comically desensitized to the daily dramas unfolding in the Graves household.

Graves was created by Joshua Michael Stern who will write, direct and executive produce the series.

Production is scheduled to begin this fall for premiere on Epix in autumn 2016.

Maria most recently appeared in the film Sea of Dreams.

Del Rio to Appear in CBS’ Comedy Pilot “The Half of It”

David Del Rio has found his better Half

The 27-year-old Latino actor will star opposite Jon Dore in CBS’ multi-camera comedy pilot The Half of It.

Written/executive produced by Mike Gibbons and directed by James Burrows, the CBS Television Studios project centers on Mike (Dore), a newly divorced dad who revels in the fact that he now gets to keep half his stuff, which is more than he ever had when he was married.

Del Rio will portray Geoffrey, a hipster with a strong sense of “melting pot of styles” fashion, who frequently operates without a filter and fancies himself a “giver.”

Del Rio, who appeared in Pitch Perfect, recently co-starred in the Lionsgate feature Spare Parts and wrapped production on the indie Undrafted.

Leguizamo to Star Opposite Tina Fey & Amy Poehler in “The Nest”

John Leguizamo is flying to the nest

The 49-year-old Colombian actor has landed a role in The Nest, a comedy starring Tina Fey and Amy Poehler as two 30-something sisters who throw one last party in their parents’ soon-to-be-sold house.

Directed by Pitch Perfect-helmer Jason Moore froma screenplay by Paula Pell, the film will also star John Cena, James Brolin, Ike Barinholtz and Maya Rudolph.

No word yet on Leguizamo’s character in the film for Universal Pictures.

Earlier this year, he starred in the hit comedy Ride Along, where he co-starred with Ice Cube and Kevin Hart. He was also recently seen in the Open Road pic Chef and has a handful of projects set to go into production, including Fugly and American Ultra.

The multi-hyphenate has also begun expanding his brand outside of film with his HBO special Ghetto Klown premiering in March and his PBS special American Masters: The Boomer List currently in pre-production. He will also be performing at Central Park SummerStage on July 28th.

The Nest is set for release on December 18, 2015.

Bardem Earns Two MTV Movie Award Nominations

He may not have earned an Academy Award nomination for his villainous role in Skyfall, but Javier Bardem is seeing a windfall of attention from MTV.

The 44-year-old Spanish actor and Oscar-winner has earned two nominations for this year’s MTV Movie Awards for his role in the latest James Bond flick.

Bardem, who earned an MTV Movie Award nod for Best Villain for 2007’s No Country for Old Men, has earned another nomination in that category this year for portraying the monstrous Raoul Silva in Skyfall.

In addition, Bardem earned a nod in the Best WTF Moment category for his memorable ““Oops… There Goes His Face” scene in the Bond film.

But Bardem isn’t the only Hispanic celebrity to earn recognition this year…

Former CSI: Miami star Adam Rodriguez and his Magic Mike co-stars have been nominated in the “Best Musical Moment” category.

The MTV Movie Awards will air love on MTV on Sunday, April 14 at 9:00 pm ET. Pitch Perfect star Rebel Wilson will serve as the night’s hostess.
