Netflix Releases Trailer for Kaya Scodelario’s “The Gentlemen” Series

Netflix has released the official trailer for Guy Ritchie’s highly-anticipated television series The Gentlemena spin-off of the Matthew McConaughey-led film starring the 31-year-old half-Brazilian English actress.

Kaya Scodelario, Theo James, The GentlemenThe trailer introduces a wealth of new characters into the Gentlemen universe, with the series set to be helmed by White Lotus star Theo James and drop on the streamer in March.

The eight-part show is created by Ritchie, inspired by the 2019 Miramax film.

It follows Eddie Horniman (James), who has inherited his English aristocrat father’s sizable estate and becomes the new Duke of Halstead — only to discover that it’s sitting on top of the biggest weed farm in Europe, which is owned by the legendary Mickey Pearson.

In addition to Scodelario and James, the series also stars the likes of  Vinnie Jones, Joely Richardson, Daniel Ings, Giancarlo Esposito, Peter Serafinowicz and Max Beesley, most of whom can be seen in the trailer.

Ritchie directs the first two episodes.

The 30-year-old half-Brazilian actress has joined the cast of Guy Ritchie’s Netflix series The Gentlemen, inspired by Ritchie’s 2019 Miramax film.

The eight-part drama series follows Eddie Halstead (James), who has inherited his father’s sizeable estate only to discover that it’s sitting on top of a weed empire owned by the legendary Mickey Pearson. Has this straight-up soldier got what it takes to master the dark arts of the British criminal underworld and take control of the entire operation?

Scodalerio will play Susie Glass, the yin to Eddie Halstead’s (Theo James) yang who oversees Mickey Pearson’s drug business; Jones will play Geoff Seacombe, the groundskeeper of the estate; Ings will play Freddy Halstead, Eddie’s older sibling who owes dangerous people a debt; Richardson will play Lady Sabrina, Eddie and Freddy’s mother.

Ritchie is at the helm of the production, serving as creator, co-writer and executive producer and will direct the first two episodes. Matthew Read will co-write The Gentlemen with Ritchie.

“The world of The Gentlemen is a little bit of me,” Ritchie said in a statement. “I’m thrilled that with Netflix, Miramax and Moonage we have this opportunity to inhabit it once again. We’re looking forward to bringing fans back into that world, introducing new characters and their stories and I am excited to be doing it with this extremely talented cast.”

Production begins November 7 in London on the series set in the world of the 2019 film but not starring the original characters.

Pedro Pascal to Star in Judd Apatow’s Netflix Comedy “The Bubble”

Things are bubbling up for Pedro Pascal

The 45-year-old Chilean actor has been cast in Judd Apatow’s next comedy The Bubble for Netflix.

Pascal, who recently starred in Wonder Woman 1984, joins a cast that includes Karen GillanIris Apatow, Fred ArmisenMaria Bakalova, David Duchovny, Keegan-Michael Key, Leslie Mann and Peter Serafinowicz.

Apatow will direct and produce the film, as well as co-write the script with Pam Brady.

The film follows a group of actors and actresses stuck inside a pandemic bubble at a hotel attempting to complete a film. The film couldn’t be more timely as more and more productions are ramping back up even as COVID-19 remains in full effect around the world.

Once Netflix boarded the project, it quickly was fast-tracked with a plan to start shooting at the top of 2021. The plan also always has been to deliver a cast that rivals previous A-list ensembles like those for The Disaster Artist and Knives Out.

Martinez, who will reprise her role from the pilot as Ms. Lint, will co-star alongside Peter Serafinowicz, Griffin Newman, Jackie Earle Haley, Valorie Curry and Brendan Hines.

Martinez has been recurring on the CW’s Jane the Virgin as Rafael’s unstable sister, Dr. Luisa Alver. She also recurs on the upcoming Amazon comedy series I Love Dick.

Amazon to Debut Martinez’s Comedy Pilot “The Tick” This August

Amazon has picked its lineup for the online retailer’s 2016 comedy pilot season, with the 36-year-old Puerto Rican actress and Jane the Virgin star’s project The Tick slated to debut in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Austria and Japan on August 19.

In addition to Martinez, who stars on Hollywood Heights, The Tick also stars Peter Serafinowicz, Griffin Newman, Jackie Earle Haley, Valorie Curry and Brendan Hines.

The Tick is directed by Wally Pfister. The project is a co-production with Sony Pictures Television.

Amazon customers can stream and review the pilot to help the online retailer choose the next Amazon Original Series that’ll be available for Amazon Prime members.

The pilot will be available via the Amazon Video app for TVs, connected devices including Fire TV, and mobile devices, or online.

Martinez’s credits include appearances on True Detective, Necessary Roughness, Alpha House, The Lying Game and Nashville.

Ortiz Lands Roles in “Going In Style” and “A Dog’s Purpose”

John Ortiz is ending the year with a bang, landing back-to-back film roles…

The 47-year-old Puerto Rican actor, director and producer will first star in New Line Cinema’s upcoming comedy Going In Style, directed by Zach Braff from a script by Theodore Melfi.

Ortiz will portray “Jesus,” a Mensa smart criminal who is socially responsible and deplores society’s treatment of the elderly.

He joins Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Alan Arkin, along with Ann-Margret, Peter Serafinowicz, Joey King and Christopher Lloyd, in the remake of the 1979 classic.

Ortiz will then follow up that film with the live action DreamWorks feature A Dog’s Purpose, based on the novel by W. Bruce Cameron.

The film is a series of vignettes directed by Lasse Hallstrom and starring Bradley Cooper (as the voice of the dog), along with Dennis Quaid, Britt Robertson, KJ Apa, Juliet Rylance and Peggy Lipton.

Ortiz stars in his segment as “Carlos”, a stern, all business cop who trains his dog to assist him in solving crime.

Ortiz can next be seen in Disney’s The Finest Hours, starring Chris Pine and Casey Affleck, and directed by Craig Gillespie, as well as Danny Boyle’s Steve Jobs.

He recently wrapped the indie A Woman, A Part starring opposite Maggie Siff and directed by Elisabeth Subrin.
