Karol G’s Shakira-Collaboration “TQG” Debuts at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs Chart

Karol G’s hot streak continues…

The 32-year-old Colombian singer has notched another No. 1 debut to her account, as “TQG” (“Te Quedé Grande”), with Shakira, arrives at No. 1 on the Hot Latin Songs chart dated March 11.

Shakira & Karol GIt’s the third pair-up by two female artists in a lead role to debut at No. 1 since the tally launched in 1986 — and they’ve all been Karol G collaborations.

Karol G’s new album Mañana Será Bonito’s large streaming first-week sum spurs 13 debuts on Hot Latin Songs. Those, plus three titles also striding up the list, take over the multimetric ranking.

In total, 16 songs of the 17-track set rank on this week’s chart, while “Provenza,” now off the tally, ruled for one week in May 2022 (Karol G’s only No. 1 as a soloist among six champs).

With 16 tracks on the chart concurrently, Karol G makes history as the woman with the most simultaneous songs since the ranking began. Only two other acts have scored more songs: Bad Bunny with between 17 and 24 concurrent songs throughout different periods and Ozuna with 21 titles in September 2018.

Plus, with five songs in the top 10, Karol G now holds the record for the most simultaneous top 10s among women.

The No. 1 start for “TQG” is powered by streaming activity. It logged 29 million clicks in the U.S., during the February 24-March 2 tracking week, according to Luminate, becoming the most-streamed Latin song of the week.

Karol G first summoned fans to Times Square for the Shakira collab announcement through social media on February 22, where the song was teased on the big screens. The joint effort by the Colombian stars, plus buzz generated about the narrative of the song (heartbreak and moving on after high-profile breakups), have helped “TQG” bow atop Hot Latin Songs.

It becomes just the eighth song by a female act to debut at No. 1 since the chart launched in 1986. Here’s the recap:

-It’s the sixth title with a female act in a lead role to debut at No. 1 since the chart launched in 1986.

-It’s the fifth title by a Hispanic female act on a lead role to debut at No. 1 since the chart’s inception. (Hispanic relating to Spanish-speaking countries, especially those in Latin America and/ or artists with Latin ascendancy).

-It’s the third pair-up by two female artists in a lead role to debut at No. 1, all including Karol G.

Ozuna’s Feid-Collab “Hey Mor” Hits No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay Chart

Ozuna is back on top of the charts…

The 30-year-old Puerto Rican singer, songwriter and rapper has captured his 32nd No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart as “Hey Mor,” with Feid, advances from No. 3 to lead the March 4-dated ranking.

Ozuna, Feid, Hey MorWith the new leader, Ozuna ties with Enrique Iglesias for the second-most No. 1s on the list. Feid, meanwhile, scores his second.

“Hey Mor” takes over Latin Airplay in its ninth week, supported by a 12% increase in audience impressions, to 11.5 million, earned in the U.S. during the Feb 17-23 tracking week, according to Luminate.

“Hey Mor” is the second song from Ozuna’s fifth studio album, OzuTochi, to hit No. 1 on the all-genre Latin Airplay chart.

It follows “Somos Iguales,” with Tokischa, featuring Louchie Lou & Michi One, which topped the tally for one week last October.

With the new No. 1, Ozuna moves ahead and enters a tie with Enrique Iglesias for the second-most No. 1s on Latin Airplay since its inception in 1994. They only trail J Balvin, who continues to dominate with 35 No. 1s: Here’s an update of the scoreboard:

Feid, meanwhile, picks up his second No. 1 after a year and a half. He secured his first victory with “Porfa,” with the all-star team comprising J Balvin, Maluma, Nicky Jam, Sech and Justin Quiles. The song earned the Colombian his first No. 1 on any Billboard chart as it ascended to a dual domination on Latin Airplay and Latin Rhythm Airplay for one week in August 2020.

Further, Feid crosses off a new career achievement as “Hey Mor” rises 12-10 on Hot Latin Songs, which blends airplay, streams, and digital sales. It becomes his first top 10 on the multi-metric tally. Ozuna collects his 29th top 10.

The 30-year-old Puerto Rican singer, songwriter and rapper has notched his 29th No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Rhythm Airplay chart as “Hey Mor,” featuring Feid, leads the February 18-dated ranking.

Ozuna, Feid, Hey MorThe song trades places with Bad Bunny and Rauw Alejandro’s “Party,” which slides 1-2 after two weeks at the top of the chart.

“Hey Mor” was released on October 8 via Aura/Sony Music Latin. It ascends 2-1 in its 10th week with 9.3 million in audience impressions, up 7%, earned in the U.S. in the week ending Feb. 9, according to Luminate.

The song is the sixth single from Ozuna’s fifth studio album OzuTochi which debuted at No. 5 on Top Latin Albums and at No. 4 on Latin Rhythm Albums last October.

“Hey Mor” gives the Latin rhythmic hitmaker his 29th champ on Latin Rhythm Airplay, and steps closer to the lead extending his second-best count of No. 1s among all acts on the 17-year-old chart. Daddy Yankee and J Balvin continue to have the most champs, both with 34 No. 1s.

Feid, meanwhile, captures his third No. 1 among seven career appearances. The Colombian’s first offering arrived with “Porfa,” with an all-star team comprising J Balvin, Maluma, Nicky Jam, Sech and Justin Quiles in August 2020.

Plus, he locked in his first and only champ as a soloist, unaccompanied by any other act, on Latin Rhythm Airplay with “Normal” in January.

Elsewhere, “Hey Mor” doubles its previous peak on the all-genre Latin Airplay chart, rallying 8-4 in its seventh week. Plus, Feid scores a career best on the overall Billboard Hot 100 ranking, as the song climbs 96-88.

Feid Among the Headlining Acts for This Year’s Sueños Music Festival

Feid is living his sueños…

The 30-year-old Colombian singer and songwriter will be among the headlining acts at the second edition of Sueños Music Festival.

FeidIn addition to Feid, headlining acts include Wisin y Yandel, Grupo Firme and Nicky Jam, who will all grace the stage on the weekend of May 27 and 28 in Chicago’s Grant Park.

The exclusively all-Latin music festival — which highlights regional Mexican and urbano powerhouse performers in the same roster — will also host reggaeton icon Ivy Queen, as well as Becky G, Eladio Carrion, Chencho Corleone, Junior H, Gera MX, Ryan Castro, Young Miko, Pao Pao and more.

From the founders of Mexico’s Baja Beach Fest, Sueños made its debut in 2022 with headlining acts J Balvin, Ozuna, and Farruko. Returning acts include Puerto Rican rapper Myke Towers, Dominican dembow purveyor El Alfa, as well as reggaeton pioneers Wisin y Yandel who will be headlining for a second year in a row.

“We’re thrilled to be coming back to Chicago for our second annual Sueños festival,” Aaron Ampudia and Chris Den Uijl, co-founders of Sueños, told Billboard Español in an email. “Last year was such a moment, you could feel the energy and excitement from fans no matter where you were at in the festival. It just felt like we were meant to be there, celebrating Latin music and culture with Chicago’s thriving Latino community – and this year we’re bringing even more.”

Wisin y Yandel kicked off their farewell tour La Última Misión last year, while showcasing their latest 2022 album of the same name. In December, the dynamic duo broke their own record at Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot (a.k.a. El Choli) with a series of 14 homecoming shows, which included a New Year’s Eve performance, the first time ever the iconic venue held a show on said date.

Feid, who entered the Billboard 200 chart in October for his successful (and leaked!) LP Feliz Cumpleaños Ferxxo: Te Pirateamos el Álbum, is poised to make an impact in 2023. Late last year, Feid embarked on his first headlining U.S. tour, produced by Live Nation, selling out numerous dates.

The Mexican band Grupo Firme, who has been elevating norteña music to higher grounds, made a splash at last summer at Baja Beach Fest in Rosarito when the group surprised audiences with its performance of “Cada Quien” alongside Medellín superstar Maluma.

Shakira’s Bizarrap-Collab “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” Hits No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay Chart

The 45-year-old Colombian Grammy– and Latin Grammy-winning singer and songwriter’s collaboration with Bizarrap “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” has hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay on the chart dated February 4.

Bizarrap, ShakiraTheir in-studio diss track has now topped nine U.S. Billboard charts, including Latin Digital Song Sales, Latin Pop Digital Song Sales, Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs, Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales, Hot Latin Songs, Latin Streaming Songs, Latin Pop Airplay, Latin Pop Streaming Songs, and now Latin Airplay.

“Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” advances 5-1 in its second week on Latin Airplay after a strong 35% gain in audience impressions, to 10 million, earned in the week ending January 26, according to Luminate.

The new coronation extends Shakira’s record among women, with 18 No. 1s. Bizarrap clocks his second after “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 52,” with Quevedo, reached the top of the chart last November where it remained for four weeks.

Shakira, meanwhile, replaces herself at No. 1 as “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” sends “Monotonía,” with Ozuna, to No. 5, after six weeks in charge, the most since Daddy Yankee’s “Con Calma,” featuring Snow, dominated the tally for eight weeks in 2019. Notably, it’s the first time a woman replaces herself at No. 1 since the chart launched in 1994.

Plus, the last time an act replaced itself at No. 1 on Latin Airplay was Farruko when “Pepas” dethroned his featured turn on Enrique Iglesias’ “Me Pasé” in October 2021.

“Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” continues its winning streak across Billboard charts.

It remains at No. 1 on Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs, Hot Latin Songs, Latin Pop Airplay, and Latin Streaming Songs and Latin Pop Streaming Songs for a second week, while on Latin Digital Song Sales and Latin Pop Digital Song Sales, the track holds atop for a third week.

Over on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100, the track dips 9-13. Further, it holds steady at No. 2 on both Billboard Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts.

Sebastian Yatra Leads Pack of Premio Lo Nuestro Nominees with 10 Nods

Sebastian Yatra is the artist to beat…

The 28-year-old Colombian singer, songwriter and actor leads the pack of Premio Lo Nuestro award nominees with 10 nods.

Sebastian YatraThe 35th edition of the Premio Lo Nuestro awards will air live from the Miami-Dade Arena on February 23 via Univision.

Yatra’s nods include the coveted all-genre artist of the year, song of the year and album of the year categories.

He is also nominated for tour of the year — which returned this year by popular demand, according to organizers — and other pop categories. His PLN-nominated album Dharma (2022) peaked at No. 2 on Latin Pop Albums and No. 13 on Top Latin Albums, among other Billboard chart achievements.

Yatra is closely followed by Bad Bunny, Camilo, Becky G and Grupo Firme, who each garnered nine nods; urbano household names Maluma, Daddy Yankee and Ozuna take eight each.

Beloved couple Rauw Alejandro and Rosalía tie with seven, alongside Carin León, Karol G, Carlos Vives and J Balvin.

Aside from topping the list, Yatra will co-host the longest-running Latin music ceremony alongside television presenter and actress Alejandra Espinoza, Mexican pop superstar Paulina Rubio, and Adrián Uribe of Univision’s late-night show De Noche Pero Sin Sueño.

In total, 192 artists across diverse musical backgrounds are nominated within 39 categories. The nominations for Premio Lo Nuestro are based on Uforia radio airplay during the eligibility period of October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2022.

Streaming counts and the assessment of a committee of music and entertainment experts also factor in this list.

Shakira Partnering with Bizarrap for “BZRP Music Session #53”

Shakira is joining the sessions…

The 45-year-old Colombian singer and songwriter is teaming up with Bizarrap for one of the Argentine producer’s hit-producing Music Sessions.

Shakira, MonotoniaAfter teasing a new track on Monday, January 9), Shakira and Bizarrap both took to social media to confirm their collaboration.

Initially, the new single had been teased with release date of Wednesday, January 11 and a one liner: “a wolf like me doesn’t have time for men like you.”

Subsequently, they announced the collab, simply writing, “Tomorrow, BZRP Music Session #53.”

It’s the first time the pair has teamed up for a track. Shakira joins a number of artists — including Nicky Jam, Residente and Paulo Londra — who’ve jumped on one of Bizarrap’s zealously streamed music sessions.

His session with Spanish act Quevedo scored both their first entry on the Billboard Hot 100. Currently, it has more than 400 million views on YouTube.

This new song will follow Shakira’s Ozuna-assisted “Monotonía,” which peaked at No. 3 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart dated November 5. It currently sits at No. 1 on the Latin Airplay chart, where it’s ruled for four weeks.

Recently, Shakira shared a heartfelt message of hope to start off the new year. “Even if our wounds are still open in this new year, time has a surgeon’s hands. Even if someone’s betrayed us, we must continue to trust others,” wrote the Colombian singer. “When faced with contempt, continue to know your worth. Because there are more good people than indecent ones. More people with empathy than indifference.”

She continued: “The ones who leave are fewer than the many who stay by our side. Our tears are not in vain, they water the soil our future will spring from and make us more human, so that even while suffering heartache we can continue to love.”

The message came after a difficult year due to her separation from Spanish soccer player Gerard Piqué, the father of her children. The singer has spoken openly about the breakup since it was confirmed in June, and has posted material — including releasing the heartbreak song “Monotonía” — alluding to her pain.

Ozuna Releases New Ovy on the Drums-Collab “Chao Bebe”

It’s chao time for Ozuna.

The 30-year-old Puerto Rican singer has joined forces with Ovy on the Drums to release the new single “CHAO BEBE” via Warner Music Latina/King Ovy.

OzunaFor their first track together, Ovy on the Drums and Ozuna place all bets on an infectious reggaetón beat fused with electronic elements.

Showcasing both their strengths, Ozuna on vocals and Ovy in the producer seat, this new track marks the new phase of Ovy on the Drums as Dr. Drums, “a genius who has mastered the science of producing and has his own formula for creating the biggest urban hits in his lab,” according to a press statement.

“‘CHAO BEBE’ has all the makings of a global hit,” Ovy says about the song. “When I was in the studio working on the track, I immediately had the idea of calling Ozuna to jump on this song.”

Ozuna to Perform at the 2022 FIFA World Cup Closing Ceremony

Ozuna is heading to Qatar…

The 30-year-old Puerto Rican singer will perform at the 2022 FIFA World Cup closing ceremony, FIFA has announced.

OzunaThe event, where Argentina and France will play for the trophy, will be held on Sunday, December 18, at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar.

Since August, Ozuna has been making the rounds with his track “Arhbo” alongside French-Congolese rapper Gims, which is part of the official FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 soundtrack.

The feel-good collaboration is named after the local slang word for “welcome” in Qatar, which “perfectly embodies the welcoming spirit” of the Arabian country that has been hosting the World Cup since November 20.

“Arhbo” hit No. 1 on the Billboard Latin Airplay chart dated December 17 after arriving in the top 10 last week. This marks Gims’ first No. 1 title on any U.S. chart.

“I think ‘Bienvenidos’, ‘welcome home’ says it all,” Ozuna previously said in a press statement. “Whatever journey everyone was on, it brought them here, to this moment, and for that moment they are home. They say that ‘home is where the heart is, right? El hogar está donde está el corazón. For all the people who are coming, and all the people who — with all their hearts — want to come, we are saying, ‘bienvenidos’, welcome home!”

Although Puerto Rico was not one of the 32 countries that played at the World Cup, Ozuna has been very much involved with the tournament.

In addition to being a part of the FIFA soundtrack, the “Hey Mor” singer teamed up with Coca-Cola Puerto Rico for limited-edition collectible cans, with 14 different designs representing some of the participating countries.

In addition, the initiative will promote the development of sports on the island by allocating a donation of $50,000 for the rehabilitation of soccer fields in San Juan.

Karol G Releases New Single “Cairo”

Karol G is ready to rock like an Egyptian…

The 31-year-old Colombian superstar has released her new track “Cairo,” an infectious track produced by her go-to producer Ovy On the Drums.

Karol GPenned by the team behind “Provenza” — Karol, Ovy and Keityn — “Cairo” is a head-bobbing earworm that thrives on a fusion of dance beats and Afrobeat. In the song, Karol sings about allowing herself to love again, even after swearing she wouldn’t.

“I’m not in love yet, but soon I will be,” she confesses.

“Cairo” follows Karol G’s “Gatubela,” which dropped in August. With the track, in collaboration with Maldy, the Colombian artist banked her 16th top 10 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs with a No. 4 debut on the September 10-dated ranking.

Billboard recently revealed that Karol G‘s $Trip Love tour had grossed $69.9 million and sold 410,000 tickets across 33 shows in North America (through the end of October), according to numbers reported to Billboard Boxscore. With those figures, she has now earned the highest U.S.-grossing tour by a female Latin act.

With $Trip Love, the “Provenza” singer surpasses Jennifer Lopez‘s $50 million grossing It’s My Party World Tour in 2019. Meanwhile, Shakira grossed $28.2 million in 2018 with her El Dorado World Tour. This year, Rosalía’s Motomami world tour has grossed $28.1 million through the end of October.

Karol G is currently working on her forthcoming album, which will follow her chart-topping, Grammy-nominated 2021 set, KG0516. She’s also slated to headline the 16th annual Calibash, taking place Jan. 21-22 at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. She joins a previously billed group of headliners that includes Ozuna, Myke Towers and Farruko.
