Armisen Joins the Cast of Ben Stiller’s “Zoolander 2”

Fred Armisen is ready, ready to run(way)…

The 48-year-old half-Venezuelan-American actor and former Saturday Night Live cast member has joined the cast of Ben Stiller’s Zoolander 2.

Armisen’s casting was announced via Twitter and Instagram, following Stiller’s posting about the addition of Billy Zane a day earlier.

Others who’ve signed to return for the followup to the supermodel saga include
Owen Wilson, Christine Taylor and Will Ferrell. New additions to the cast include Penelope Cruz, Kristen Wiig and Cyrus Arnold as Zoolander’s son.

Stiwill again directs; with Justin Theroux writing the script and appearing in front of the camera antics.

Zoolander 2 is slated to open February 12, 2016.

Lopez to Serve as a Presenter at the 72nd Annual Golden Globe Awards

The 45-year-old Puerto Rican actress/singer and American Idol judge is among the second batch of presenters announced today by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) for the 72nd Annual Golden Globe Awards.

Lopez, who received a Golden Globe nomination in 1998 for her breakout role in Selena, joins a list of presenters that includes Jennifer Aniston, Kate Beckinsale, Bryan Cranston, Jamie Dornan, Colin Firth, Jane Fonda, Harrison Ford, Bill Hader, Katherine Heigl, Dakota Johnson, Adam Levine, Matthew McConaughey, Seth Meyers, Lupita Nyong’o, Jeremy Renner, Meryl Streep, Lily Tomlin, Vince Vaughn, and Kerry Washington.

They will join previously announced presenters; Amy Adams, Adrien Brody, Robert Downey Jr., Anna Farris, Ricky Gervais, Kevin Hart, Salma Hayek, Kate Hudson, Gwyneth Paltrow, Chris Pratt, Channing Tatum, Kristen Wiig, Owen Wilson and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

The ceremony, hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler for the third year in a row, will air on Sunday, January 11 live coast-to-coast on NBC with the pre-show from 4-5 PM (PST)/7-8 PM (EST), and main telecast from 5-8 PM (PST)/8-11 PM (EST) from the Beverly Hilton.

Cruz to Star Opposite Ben Stiller in “Zoolander 2”

The 40-year-old Spanish actress and Oscar winner has signed on to star opposite Ben Stiller in Paramount Pictures’ comedy Zoolander 2.

Directed by Stiller, from a Justin Theroux-penned script, Stiller will reprise his role as empty headed supermodel Derek Zoolander. There have been rumors that Will Ferrell will be back as the sinister Mugatu and Owen Wilson as Zoolander’s supermodel rival Hansel.

The original Zoolander has become a cult classic, with Stiller fully committing to the character, with some hilarious moments in the original, from Blue Steel to the catwalk showdown between Zoolander and Hansel, to the freak gasoline fight accident that was one of the funniest movie comedy moments in recent years.

No word on what role Cruz will portray in the sequel.

Cruz recently wrapped production on the Julio Medem-directed Mama in Spain, and she plays a small role in the Sacha Baron Cohen comedy Grimsby.

Perez Joins Voice Cast of the Animated Film “The Hero Of Color City”

The 49-year-old Puerto Rican actress has joined the voice cast of Magnolia PicturesThe Hero Of Color City.

The animated feature chronicles the adventures of a diverse band of crayons that come alive in a little boys room when he drifts off to sleep.

In addition to Perez, who will voice the character of Red, The Hero Of Color City’s voice cast will include Owen Wilson, Jessica Capshaw, Christina Ricci, Wayne Brady and Craig Ferguson.

The animated film will be directed by Frank Gladstone.

It’s the latest project for Perez, who recently signed on to star in the indie film Five Nights in Maine.

del Toro In Final Talks to Star Opposite Emily Blunt in the Crime Thriller “Sicario”

The 47-year-old Puerto Rican actor, who earned an Academy Award for his performance in Traffic, is in final talks to star in the crime thriller Sicario.

del Toro would star opposite Emily Blunt in the film which centers on the hunt for a dangerous drug kingpin.

Blunt will portray a female cop from Tucson, Arizona, who travels across the border to Mexico with mercenaries to catch a notorious drug lord.

Sicario will be helmed by Prisoners director Denis Villeneuve, based on a screenplay from Sons of Anarchy actor Taylor Sheridan.

del Toro will next star as Taneleer Tivan or The Collector in James Gunn‘s Guardians of the Galaxy, which will hit U.S. theaters on August 1.

He’s also among the cast of Paul Thomas Anderson‘s all-star crime comedy drama Inherent Vice along with Joaquin Phoenix, Josh Brolin, Owen Wilson, Reese Witherspoon and Maya Rudolph, among others.

Guillen to Star Opposite Victoria Justice in MTV’s Pilot “Eye Candy”

It’s a case of eye candy for Harvey Guillen

The Latino actor has been cast in the MTV cyber thriller pilot Eye Candy, which stars former Nickelodeon star Victoria Justice.

The pilot centers on Lindy (portrayed by Justice), a reclusive hacker whose blog exposes everything from terrorist plots to suspected killers. She is targeted by a dangerous cyber stalker and teams up with the city’s cyber-crime unit to catch him.

Guillen will portray Juan, a brilliant hacker with the cyber crime unit who also is on the hunt for her stalker.

Guillen’s credits include roles on ABC Family’s Huge, Fox’s Raising Hope and ABC’s Miss Guided.

He most recently starred opposite Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson in The Internship.

Alazraqui Replacing Piolin in “Free Birds” Voice Cast

Carlos Alazraqui will be flying high in the near future…

The 51-year-old Argentine American voice actor and impressionist has replaced Eddie “Piolin” Sotelo in the voice cast of the computer animated 3D comedy Free Birds from Relativity Media and Reel FX Creative Studios.

Alazraqui, best known for voicing the Taco Bell chihuahua, will have a supporting role in the voice cast along with Owen Wilson, Woody Harrelson, Amy Poehler and George Takei.

His credits include voicing characters in the recently released Disney animated film Planes, Toy Story 3 and Happy Feet Two, as well as an acting role on Reno 911.

Sotelo hosted the nationally syndicated Piolin por la Manana radio program until Univision let him go July 22 after an employee made allegations of sexually harassment. Sotelo has denied the allegations.

“Piolín” Lending His Voice to Thanksgiving-Themed Animated Film “Free Birds”

The 40-year-old Mexican radio personality and actor lends his voice to the animated project Free Birds, which recently saw its first trailer released online.

The film centers on two turkeys from opposite sides of the tracks who must put aside their differences and work together to travel back in time to change the course of history – and get turkey off the Thanksgiving menu for good.

In addition to Sotelo, who was named as one of the 100 most powerful people in Southern California by the Los Angeles Times in 2006, the stellar voice cast includes Owen Wilson, Woody Harrelson, Amy Poehler, George Takei and Dwight Howard.

Sotelo, whose radio program Piolín por la Mañana runs weekday mornings on KSCA in Southern California, previously provided the voice of Rafa, one of the dogs in Disney‘s Beverly Hills Chihuahua.

Directed by Jimmy Hayward, Free Birds is set to open nationwide in November.

Plaza to Receive Breakthrough Performer of the Year Award at This Year’s CinemaCon

The Will Rogers Motion Picture Pioneers Foundation has announced that the 28-year-old half-Puerto Rican actress/comedian and Parks and Recreation star will receive the Breakthrough Performer of the Year award at this year’s CinemaCon.

Plaza, who graces the cover of Complex Magazine’s April/May cover, earned kudos for her starring role in the indie film Safety Not Guaranteed. She’ll next star in The To Do List.

The awards dinner will take place April 15-18 at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.

Garcia to Star in “Interns”…

The 32-year-old half-Cuban/half-Spanish American actress has signed on to star in the feature film Interns opposite Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson.

Garica—who was recently announced as the female lead in NBC’s upcoming comedy series Animal Practice—is set to portray Vaughn’s girlfriend in the Shawn Levy-directed comedy, which will feature Vaughn and Wilson as two middle-aged guys who lose their jobs and have to start at the bottom in the new American workforce.

Interns will be filming in Atlanta this summer.

This is the former Reba and Better With You star’s first feature film since 2006’s A-List and 2001’s Not Another Teen Movie and American Pie 2.
