Alejandro Sanz Receives All-Star Welcome to His New Label, Sony Music Latin-Iberia

Alejandro Sanz is getting an all-star welcome at Sony Music Latin-Iberia.

The 54-year-old Spanish award-winning singer-songwriter was serenaded by Kany GarcíaCamilo and Evaluna, among other artists, serenaded  at an event hosted by Sony Music during Latin Grammy Week in Sevilla, Spain, officially welcoming Sanz to his new label.

Alejandro SanzProducer Javier Limón, a close friend of Sanz’s, hosted the event along with Afo Verde, Chairman and CEO of Sony Music Latin-Iberia, and José María Barbat, president of Sony Music Iberia.

“We’re here on an unforgettable night because we have the opportunity to celebrate the arrival of Alejandro Sanz to our great Sony Music family,” said Verde, who signed Sanz to Sony this past June.

”We know the extraordinary artist that’s inside you. We know of your drive and passion for your work, your curiosity for new artists, the support you give those who are starting off, your generosity with your colleagues, your commitment to causes of fairness and the value of your friendship,” added Barbat.

Camilo, Evaluna, Niña Pastori, Kany García, J·Noa, Darumas, Yerai Cortés and Montse Cortés performed some of Sanz’s emblematic songs, including “Amiga Mía” (J Noa), “Cuando nadie me ve” (Kany García) and “Desde cuando” (Camilo y Evaluna).  The honoree enjoyed the evening from a table set in a semi private area, from which he could see the performances.

Other artists, including Malú, Ana Mena, Arde Bogotá, Omar Montes, Reik, Nicki Nicole, Kenia OS and María José Llergo, were also at the event ,which took place in Hacienda Azahares.

This year, Sanz is nominated for a Latin Grammy for song of the year for “Nasa” alongside Camilo, and record of the year for “Correcaminos” with Danny Ocean.

Sanz thanked his “Dear Sony family” for the warm welcome. “It’s been a beautiful night to get together again and begin this new stage, in addition to a prelude to a week where we’ll celebrate music. Let’s enjoy and celebrate!” he said.

Darell Releases New Album “Everybody Go to the Discotek”

The 33-year-old Puerto Rican rapper and songwriter has released his new album Everybody Go to the Discotek, which is named after his signature phrase.

DarellThe album features 18 tracks crafted for a good time at the club while showcasing Darell’s musical versatility.

At the core of each track is his distinct, deep, raspy vocals, but while some songs are hard-hitting perreos (“Deshidratado,” “Ponte Bonita,” and “Me Dice Daddy,” to name a few), Darell is as experimental as ever.

Lollipop” is a sensual merengue-bachata fusion, “Rulay” is a tribute to Dominican dembowFunka” is a saucy Brazilian funk number and focus single “Wait Deh Man,” a reggae-infused collaboration with Nicky Jam, Wisin and Luar La L.

Other collaborators on Everybody Go to the Discotek include Ozuna, Myke Towers, Sech, Jory Boy, Maffio, Omar Courtz and Omar Montes.

Aitana Leads Pack of Premios Odeón Nominees with Five Nods

Aitana is celebrating a handful of honors…

The 2021 Premios Odeón nominations have been revealed for the second annual awards show, with the 21-year-old Spanish singer leading the pack of nominees with five nods.

Aitana, who rose to acclaim as the runner-up on the Spanish reality television talent competition Operación Triunfo, is nominated for Odeón Pop Artist, as well as Best Pop Song for two of her singles: +,” alongside Cali y El Dandee, and “Si Tú La Quieres,” with David Bisbal, who has earned four nominations this year.

Pablo Alboran has received four nods.

The 31-year-old Spanish singer’s nominations include Odeón Pop Artist, Best Pop Album for Vertigo, and Best Pop Song for his Ava Max collaboration “Tabú.

Other multiple nominees include C. Tangana, Chema Rivas, Rosalia, Vanessa Martin, Nathy Peluso and Omar Montes.

The Spanish-based awards show, which was officially announced at the end of 2019 by the Asociación De Gestión De Derechos Intelectuales (AGEDI) and kicked off in 2020, not only celebrates the diverse music scene in Spain but also Latin and international acts.

The winners are chosen by the fans, according to the official statement, “through their active participation of consuming music, both on digital platforms and with the purchase of physical formats during the previous year.”
