Adassa & Her “Encanto” Cast Mates Notch Fourth Week at No. 1 on UK Singles Chart with “We Don’t Talk About Bruno”

Make that four weeks in a row for Adassa…

The 35-year-old Afro-Colombian-American urban reggaeton singer and her Encanto cast mates’ “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” leads the U.K. singles chart for a fourth week, powered by streaming.

“We Don’t Talk About Bruno” racks up another 59,900 chart sales including 8.5 million streams, as it extends its magical streak, according to the Official Charts Company.

“We Don’t Talk About Bruno” is the first original Disney recording to rule the Official U.K. Singles Chart, and with each cycle at the top, it’s creating more history.

The track also features the vocals of Carolina Gaitán, Mauro Castillo, Rhenzy Feliz, Diane Guerrero, Stephanie Beatriz and the Encanto cast as their characters in the animated film.

Meanwhile, another Encanto tune, “Surface Pressure” by Jessica Darrow, lifts 4-3, for a new peak.

Mariah Carey is making history across the pond…

More than a quarter century after its release, the 51-year-old half-Venezuelan American Grammy-winning singer’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” has reached No. 1 single in the United Kingdom.

Carey’s classic Christmas tune climbs from its peak position of No. 2 to the top spot on the Official U.K. Singles Chart, completing a record 26-year journey.

“All I Want For Christmas Is You” reaches the summit in its 104th week.

According to the Official Charts Company, no other song in history has spent as many weeks in the U.K. Top 40 before eventually reaching No. 1.

The Queen of Christmas leads a festive U.K. chart which features 23 holiday-themed songs in the Top 40, including six in the Top 10.

Cardi B’s wap-ping her way into the music history books…

The 27-year-old half-Dominican American rap superstar’s smash “WAP,” featuring Megan Thee Stallion, has reached the No. 1 spot on the U.K. charts.

Cardi B’s “WAP” rises 2-1 on the Official U.K. Singles Chart, to become the first-ever female rap collaboration to reach the summit in the U.K.

After two weeks at No. 2, the track snags 65,000 charts sales, including 8.5 million streams, to take the title, the Official Charts Company reports.

It’s a personal best for both artists. Cardi B’s previous peak on the U.K. chart was No. 5 for 2018’s “Finesse,” her collaboration with Bruno Mars. Megan’s previous high point was a No. 3 for “Savage” in May of this year.

“WAP” is just the second female-led single to hit the top this year, following Lady Gaga’s “Rain On Me” featuring Ariana Grande in May.

You’d have to go back to September 2014 for the last all-female collaboration to hit No. 1, Jessie J, Grande and Nicki Minaj’s “Bang Bang”.

Mars & Mark Ronson’s “Uptown Funk” Earns 2015 Top Track Honors in the U.K.

Bruno Mars is celebrating a Funktastic 2015 in the United Kingdom…

The 30-year-old part-Puerto Rican singer’s retro blockbuster collaboration with Mark Ronson, “Uptown Funk,” was the top track in the U.K. last year.

The song spent seven weeks at No. 1 and chalked up combined sales and streams of 1.76 million to finish 2015 at the peak of the Official Charts Company’s end-of-year chart, well ahead of tracks by OMI and Hozier.

“Uptown Funk” registered 39 weeks in the Top 40 before finally departing in October. Its total combined U.K. sales since release in November 2014 now top 2.25 million, according to the OCC.

The song, lifted from Ronson’s fourth studio album Uptown Special, proved to be an unstoppable force on both sides of the Atlantic.

“Uptown Funk” spent 14 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, a feat tied for second behind the 16-week reign of Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men’s “One Sweet Day.”

No other song has spent so long at the U.S. summit during the 2010s.

Ronson, who is based in the U.S. but was born in London, won British single of the year for “Uptown Funk” at the 2015 Brit Awards and he’s a former Brit Award winner for male artist of the year.
