Helmed by Jesse Zwick, in his directorial debut, the film centers on seven college friends who reunite Big Chill-style one long weekend after one of their own friends attempts suicide. The pals wax philosophical on past relationships, old crushes and bad decisions and how life has changed post-college in the Facebook/Twitter age.

Along with Plaza, the film stars Parenthood’s Jason Ritter, New Girl’s Max Greenfield, Arbitrage’s Nate Parker, Taken’s Maggie Grace, The Internship’s Max Minghella and Suburgatory’s Jane Levy.

It’s the latest film role for the Parks and Recreation star known for her deadpan-style comedy.

She’s currently filing Life After Beth in LA.

Annable will play a potentially recurring love interest for Nick (Jake Johnson), according to TVLine, which could throw a wrench in the blossoming love between Nick and Jess (Deschanel).

Annable will play Shane, a perky and preppy management school grad who is Nick’s new boss at the bar. Per the casting notice for the role, Shane “unabashedly” starts having a fling with her new subordinate.

Annable’s casting comes less than a week after Nick and Jess shared their first kiss.

Annable, whose credits also include Breaking In and Brothers & Sisters, will soon kick off a multi-episode arc in Cinemax’s new drama Banshee. She’s also set to appear in CBS’ new series Golden Boy later this year, as well begin shooting the film The Truth About Lies.

Arteta to Direct CW’s Carrie Diaries Pilot

Miguel Arteta is about to experience a little sex and the city

Miguel Arteta

The Puerto Rican filmmaker has signed on to direct and executive produce the CW’s Carrie Diaries pilot.

Based on Candace Bushnell’s book, Carrie Diaries is the prequel to Bushnell’s Sex and the City—which spawned HBO’s iconic comedy series starring Sarah Jessica Parker as the book’s heroine Carrie Bradshaw and subsequent films.

Carrie Diaries

Carrie Diaries chronicles Carrie’s coming of age in the 1980s, when she asks her first questions about love, sex, friendship and family while exploring the worlds of high school and Manhattan.

Arteta, who rose to fame after directing The Good Girl and Chuck & Buck, most recently helmed the film Cedar Rapids. He also directed the Thanksgiving episode of Fox’s new breakout hit series New Girl, which introduced recurring guest star Justin Long; as well as episodes of Enlightened and American Horror Story.
