Victoria Moroles to Star in the John Turturro Crime Thriller “The Only Living Pickpocket in New York”

Victoria Moroles is living the dream…

The 28-year-old Latina actress has joined the cast of the John Turturro crime thriller The Only Living Pickpocket in New York.

Victoria Moroles, Moroles, who starred Never Have I Ever, joins a roster of new cast additions that includes Giancarlo Esposito, Tatiana Maslany, Will Price and Steve Buscemi.

No word on the roles to be played by Moroles and the other actors.

Currently in production in New York City, the film follows Harry (Turturro), a career pickpocket who is forced into a desperate, high-stakes race against time through the streets of his city.

Noah Segan is directing from his own script. MRC is financing the project and producers for T-Street include Leopold Hughes, Katie McNeill and Ben LeClair.

Moroles recurred on Netflix’s Never Have I Ever and stars in the upcoming Prime Video cold case drama Ballard.

Salvador Perez to Receive Costume Designers Guild’s Distinguished Service Award

Salvador Perez is set for a distinguished honor…

The Costume Designers Guild has fashioned the Latino costume designer for one of its 2025 lifetime honorees.

Salvador Perez,Perez, the former guild president and longtime board member, will receive the Distinguished Service Award.

He will be feted during the 27th annual Costume Designers Guild Awards on February 6 at The Ebell of Los Angeles.

The Distinguished Service Award recognizes individuals whose exceptional skills and contributions have significantly advanced the art of costume design and highlights the invaluable behind-the-scenes professionals who are essential to the storytelling process through costume design.

A former three-term CDG president, Perez is a two-time Emmy nominee for Hocus Pocus 2 in 2023 and The Mindy Project eight years earlier.

His credits since 1997 also include the Pitch Perfect films, The Sex Lives of College Girls, Never Have I Ever, Party Down and Veronica Mars.

“Being a member of the Costume Designers Guild has always been a great source of pride for me, Perez said. “I am constantly inspired by my colleagues. Having served on the executive board of the CDG for 25 years, including nine years as president, I am so proud of the legacy we as a community have built for ourselves. To be honored for my work for the guild is very humbling.”

CDG said last month that Emilia Pérez co-star and Lioness lead Zoe Saldaña is set for its 2025 Spotlight Award.

Tyler Alvarez to Star in Netflix’s Workplace Comedy Series “Blockbuster”

Tyler Alvarez is the new kid on the block(buster)… 

The 24-year-old Puerto Rican and Cuban-American actor has joined the cast of Blockbuster, Netflix’s upcoming single-camera workplace comedy.

Tyler AlvarezAlvarez is part of a roster of new cast additions that includes Madeleine Arthur and Olga Merediz as series regulars. JB Smoove and Kamaia Fairburn have also joined the cast in recurring roles.

They join previously announced leads Randall Park and Melissa Fumero.

Blockbuster, from Universal Television, is a 10-episode ensemble comedy that takes place in the last Blockbuster Video store in America. It explores what it takes – and, more specifically, who it takes – for a small business to succeed against all odds.

Alvarez will play Carlos. As a first-generation son of immigrants, he learned English by watching movies, and they quickly became his love language. He dreams of being a filmmaker, but can’t help but feel like he owes it to his parents to live the American life they planned for him.

Merediz will play Connie. She works at Blockbuster to make friends, not money. She’s the unintentionally blunt mother figure to not just the employees, but many of the Blockbuster regulars.

The series is created by Vanessa Ramos, with David Caspe and Jackie Clarke also serving as writers/executive producers. John Davis and John Fox executive produce for Davis Entertainment. Payman Benz will direct and co-executive produce four episodes, including the pilot.

Alvarez’s previous credits include Never Have I Ever and American Vandal.

Merediz previously appeared in In the Heights and Encanto.

Tyler Alvarez to Star in New Hulu Coming-of-Age Romance

Tyler Alvarez has lined up his next project…

The 23-year-old Puerto Rican and Cuban-American actor has joined the cast of Hulu’s untitled coming-of-age romance film starring Rowan Blanchard and Auli’i Cravalho, which Sammi Cohen is directing.

Alvarez, who currently appears on Season Two of Netflix’s Never Have I Ever, joins a list of cast newcomers that includes Megan Mullally, Michelle Buteau, Aasif Mandvi, Teala Dunn and Isabella Ferreira.

The film, scripted by Kirsten King and Casey Rackham, centers on an aspiring artist who is forced to join her high school track team, using it as an opportunity to pursue the girl she’s been harboring a long-time crush on. Later, she finds herself falling for an unexpected teammate, only then discovering what real love feels like.

Blanchard will play Paige, the aspiring artist who’s thrust out of her comfort zone, with Cravalho portraying AJ, an elusive track star who has always lived in the shadow of her twin sister.

It’s a special game of Never Have I Ever for Tyler Alvarez…

The 23-year-old Puerto Rican and Cuban American actor has landed a recurring role for season two of Mindy Kaling’s Netflix series Never Have I Ever.

Alvarez will play Malcom. A “Young Hollywood” type, Malcom went to elementary school with Devi and her friends but left when he was cast in a Disney Channel show. He’s recently returned to Sherman Oaks High while continuing his acting career.

Co-created by Kaling and Lang Fisher, Never Have I Ever stars Maitreyi Ramakrishnan as high school student Devi Vishwakumar, alongside returning cast including Poorna Jagannathan, Richa Moorjani, Jaren Lewison, Darren Barnet, Lee Rodriguez and Ramona Young.

The show follows the complicated life of a modern-day first-generation Indian American teenage girl, dealing with issues of family, sexuality and high school. Ramakrishnan’s Vishwakumar is a 15-year-old from Sherman Oaks, CA, who wants to change her social status after a horrible year that included losing her father and being confined to a wheelchair for three months.

Alvarez is best known for his starring role as Peter Maldonado in Netflix’s American Vandal. His other notable credits include Netflix’s Orange is the New Black and the Hulu revival of Veronica Mars.
