Christina Aguilera Releases Spanish-Language EP “La Fuerza”

Christina Aguilera is proving she’s a fuerza to be reckoned with…

The 41-year-old half-Ecuadorian American Grammy-winning singer is revisiting her Latin roots with this week’s release of La Fuerza, her first Spanish album in more than two decades.

Christina AguileraAguilera’s EP includes the singles “Pa’ Mis Muchachas,” a collaboration with Becky G, Nicki Nicole and Nathy Peluso; and a classic ballad, “Somos nada,” which she sang for the first time on stage last November during the Latin Grammys.

Her return to Latin market was imminent in her career, she told CNN en Español‘s Zona Pop at a press conference.

Mi Reflejo” had been such a beautiful, special time in my life, but it was 20- plus years ago when I was coming on the scene. I was so green to the business. I was baby Christina,” she said. “20 years later, I’m a grown woman who had such an incredible career. Now I get to come back having reflected on that.”

Aguilera also said as a mother now, she relishes the chance to share her Spanish music with her kids because it’s “a big part of them and who they are.”

“And so, they can see mommy do her thing in Spanish, they can hear it and feel it from a musical level,” Aguilera said.

La Fuerza is just the first of three releases she hopes to make in 2022.

Aguilera said she will address her relationship with her father in one releasing later in the year.

“I have a little bit of an estranged relationship with my father. I’ve spoken openly about it in the past,” she said. “I do address my father, and it’s the first time I … am coming from a place where I’m making peace with certain parts of my past.”

On a “deeper level,” she added, “this album means a great deal to me just because I’ve been able to embrace so many things about who I am and where I am now.”

Two of the songs from “La Fuerza” are collaborations, something common in Latin music.

“Latin music is such a community-based, beautiful environment, and there’s so much love there that I wanted to make it a unified experience,” Aguilera told CNN en Español.

“It’s more important to me now that I do things with artists who I not only admire, but I know I’m doing it because I love and want the experience. The experience outweighs any other thing to me. And at this point in my life and career, it’s important for me to do things that I love to do and not for any other reason,” the singer said.

In her first single, “Pa’ Mis Muchachas,” Aguilera surrounded herself with feminine powerhouses.

“I have so much admiration for other strong women and women who speak their truth,” she said.

Nicki Nicole, Aguilera said, “reminds me a lot of me coming up — so fresh and new in the business when I did my first Spanish album.” Nathy Peluso, meanwhile, is “so incredible on stage” and “a natural mover and performer.”

“I get mesmerized when I watch her,” she said. “And then you have Becky G, who represents such a strong, polished, smart little businesswoman. I love having conversations with her.”

Working on this song, the singer recalled her experience making 2001’s “Lady Marmalade,” in which Aguilera joined forces with singers Mýa, Lil’ Kim, and Pink.

“I loved doing ‘Lady Marmalade’ back in the day,” Aguilera said, “and every different woman representing who they are as strong women.”

A theme of empowerment that seems to have no language barriers.

Christina Aguilera to Release Her Spanish Language EP “La Fuerza” This Week

Christina Aguilera is sharing her strength this week…

The 41-year-old half-Ecuadorian American Grammy-winning singer will release her highly anticipated Spanish-language EP La Fuerza on Friday, January 21.

Christina Aguilera

Aguilera — who had been teasing her upcoming collaboration with Ozuna — also unveiled La Fuerza‘s tracklist via Instagram.

The Ozuna-assisted “Santo,” set to drop on Thursday, is part of the EP, along with girl-power anthem “Pa’ Mis Muchachas,” which features Nathy PelusoNicki Nicole and Becky G. “The first chapter,” Aguilera teased in the caption.

La Fuerza is the first of her three-part album, set to be released more than 20 years after her first Spanish effort, Mi Reflejo. That release debuted at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Top Latin Albums chart in September 2000, and remained there for 19 weeks.

The album also peaked at No. 27 on the Billboard 200 chart.

“It’s been a project that I wanted to follow up for so long, but I’m so happy that it’s happening now as a grown woman,” Aguilera previously told Billboard. “Having been a mother, having experienced the career I have, I bring a different view and set of passions. Now it’s coming from a deeper perspective and wanting to explore.”

“It can be intimidating and scary to put yourself out there in a way you know will be challenging. I don’t write in Spanish the way I do in English, but I know my heart,” she continued. “It’s a layered journey I’ve been on but now having kids of my own, I want them to see that mommy doesn’t know everything. I’m still learning too and I’m not going to back down from something I’m truly passionate about because I’m scared or I’m afraid of what people will think. This is me being me on my own journey of life. I could cry about it. It means a lot to me.”

Christina Aguilera to Release Ozuna Collaboration “Santo”

Christina Aguilera has found her santo

The 41-year-old half-Ecuadorian American Grammy-winning singer will follow up her girl-power anthem “Pa’ Mis Muchachas,” featuring Becky G, Nicki Nicole and Nathy Peluso, with a Latin collaboration with Ozuna.

Christina AguileraAguilera shared the news on social media, posting a photo of the two artists in red outfits and a caption with the song’s title, release date, and pre-save link. “‘Santo’ feat. Ozuna,” she wrote across her social media accounts, revealing that the collaboration drops on January 20.

“Santo” will be part of her Spanish-language EP, La Fuerza, the first of her three-part album, set to be released more than 20 years after her first Spanish effort, Mi Reflejo, which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Top Latin Albums chart in September 2000, and remained there for 19 weeks.

The album also peaked at No. 27 on the Billboard 200 chart.

“It’s been a project that I wanted to follow up for so long but I’m so happy that it’s happening now as a grown woman,” Aguilera previously told Billboard.

Christina Aguilera Releases Spanish Female Empowerment Anthem “Pa Mis Muchachas,” Featuring Becky G, Nathy Peluso & Nicki Nicole

Christina Aguilera is celebrating all muchachas

Singing in Spanish for the first time in nearly a decade, the 40-year-old has released the female empowerment anthem “Pa Mis Muchachas,” featuring Becky G, Nathy Peluso and Nicki Nicole.

Christina Aguilera

Aguilera teased the single earlier in the week with a sultry snippet of the music video before confirming the song’s title and three collaborators.

“I am proud to reveal mi primera canción from a body of work that lives so closely to my heart,” she wrote on her socials. “And these beautiful, strong and talented women are joining forces with me for this first Guaracha.”

In the spring, Xtina revealed that she was working on her “overdue” second Spanish-language album more than 20 years after 2000’s Mi Reflejo, which peaked at No. 27 on the Billboard 200 and ruled the Top Latin Albums and Latin Pop Albums charts.

“It’s a big deal right now and it’s really nostalgic and part of my Latin culture and history,” she told Billboard in an interview in July. “So this is really, really fun to get into some family roots and explore who I am now as a woman musically. Things are coming from a different approach.”

C. Tangana Teams Up with Nathy Peluso for the Bachata-Infused Track “Ateo”

C. Tangana is celebrating his love for a Dominican genre…

The 31-year-old Spanish rapper has joined voices with Nathy Peluso to release the single “Ateo,” an ode to bachata.

C. Tangana x Nathy Peluso

Tangana first explored his love for bachata on “Tu Me Dejaste de Querer,” but now he’s teamed up Peluso for another twist on the genre.

The genre-smashing artists first set the tone for the single’s release with a provocative teaser showcasing their bachata skills that stirred up some controversy. At its core, the track is a love song that narrates a love so pure it makes an atheist believe.

“I was an atheist but I believe now,” they sing. “All it took was for a miracle like you to come down to earth.”

About the song, Peluso said, “I immediately felt it was a classic. And when we worked together at the studio I reconfirmed that same feeling. It’s a project with a marvelous universe and a fantastic video that is truly a piece of art, and a very interesting topic that challenges us all. Long live Romanticism!”

The cinematic film that accompanies the single, shot in Spain’s Toledo Cathedral, marks Tangana’s directorial debut.

Nathy Peluso Releases Salsa-fied New Single “Mafiosa”

Nathy Peluso is embracing her love of salsa…

The 26-year-old Argentine singer-songwriter has released her latest track “Mafiosa.”

Nathy Peluso, Mafiosa

Much like “Veneno” and every other TikTok video where she’s dancing tropical classics is any indication, Peluso’s new single attests to her love for salsa.

A nearly five-minute track of pure salsa rhythms with a live orchestra (piano, trumpet, congas, guira … the whole nine yards), Peluso delivers a bossed-up track (once again!) about finding her self-worth and being the most powerful woman in the block.

“I’m going to be a gangster, a wonder woman/ May bad men fear me/ When I arrive in my car/ They despair/ They get scared and speed away,” goes the saucy chorus.

Filmed in Madrid, where she’s currently on tour, Peluso is the creative director behind the music video, in which she flaunts different provocative outfits and her killer dance moves. She’s a dangerous and empowered woman on the loose, sending a clear message in “Mafiosa”: Men are afraid of powerful women.

Nathy Peluso to Perform at This Year’s Montreux Jazz Festival

Nathy Peluso is jazzed about her next gig…

The 26-year-old Argentine singer, songwriter and producer will perform at the 2021 edition of Montreux Jazz Festival, slated to roll out across 16 days next month in Switzerland.

Nathy Peluso

Set to take place from July 2-17, Montreux Jazz Festival this year debuts a new stage, Scene Du Lac, on the banks of Lake Geneva.

In addition to Peluso, the lineup includes Woodkid, Inhaler, the Paradox project of Jeff Mills and Tony Allen, and many more.

Rag’n’Bone Man and Arlo Parks, and Detroit techno legend Jeff Mills are among the headliners booked for the event.

The festival, one of Europe’s best-known and longest-running live music events, was canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic.

In April of this year, organizers announced plans for the festival’s return, with a limited capacity and its new stage.

Montreux Jazz Festival was established in 1967 by the late jazz connoisseur Claude Nobs. Over time, the event has hosted performances by many of the greats of contemporary music, from Prince to David Bowie, Nina Simone, Quincy Jones, Marvin Gaye, Elton John and others.

Tickets for this year’s fest go on sale from June 8 via the Montreux Jazz Festival website.

Nathy Peluso to Trek Across Spain for First Major Tour

Nathy Peluso is ready for her first major tour in Spain.

With an already sold-out show at the Palau de la Musica in Barcelona this Friday and a following sold-out set at Granada’s Granada Alive! on May 28, the 26-year-old Argentine singer-songwriter and producer is bring her “Calambre” España Verano Tour to 17 confirmed dates.

Nathy Peluso

Peluso, who’s expected to sing songs from her edgy and versatile 2020 album, including her Latin Grammy-nominated “Buenos Aires” and viral “BZRP Music Sessions #36,” helmed by produced Bizarrap, will visit cities like Seville, Madrid and Valencia, to name a few.

“I want to have the best show of my life and tour the whole world,” the former Billboard Latin Artist on the Rise previously told Billboard. “Live shows are my passion.”

On Instagram, Peluso assured fans that she created her album Calambre with the purpose to sing it live.

“You know that I’m ruthless on stage, so get ready for the sugar and the flavor that I prepared for each person who comes to these shows,” she expressed, promising that she and her entire band are ready for showtime.
