Paramount+ Renews Natalie Morales’ “Rugrats” Revival for Second Season

Natalie Morales is staying animated…

Paramount+ has renewed the revival of the classic Nickelodeon series Rugrats, featuring the 36-year-old Cuban American actress among the voice cast, for a second season.

Natalie Morales

The revival, which follows the titular tots and their imaginative shenanigans, features original cast members E.G. Daily, Nancy Cartwright, Cheryl Chase, Cree Summer and Kath Soucie as Tommy, Chuckie, Angelica, Susie, Phil and Lil, respectively.

In addition to Morales, the voice cast also features Nicole Byer, Ashley Rae Spillers, Tommy Dewey, Anna Chlumsky, Natalie Morales, Michael McKean and Omar Miller.

Paramount+ also revealed the premiere date for the second batch of Season 1 episodes, including the upcoming Halloween special.

The second batch of episodes, which will drop on October 7, will continue to see the Rugrats using their wild imaginations to defeat an outer-space villain, travel through Chuckie’s dad’s body, embark upon a daring mission to break Angelica out of preschool and more. The half-hour Halloween-themed special sees Tommy work with his friends’ help to save Angelica after she turns into a werewolf at a scary Halloween party as their parents seem to disappear one by one.

The original Rugrats series launched August 11, 1991, and became a phenomenon, spawning consumer products and three hit theatrical releases, cementing its place in pop culture history through its characters, storytelling and unique visual style. Rugrats was in production for nine seasons over the course of 13 years. The series earned four Daytime Emmy Awards, six Kids’ Choice Awards and its own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The original series was created by Arlene Klasky, Gabor Csupo and Paul Germain.

In the reboot, the series’ tiny tots embark on an Indiana Jones-inspired treasure hunt, a battle against a giant green dog and a high-speed car chase in the colorful, wild worlds of their imagination.

Natalie Morales to Star in & Produce CBS’ Comedy Pilot Based on Sarah Cooper Book

Natalie Morales is preparing for a successful next endeavor…

The 36-year-old Cuban American actress has been cast as one of the leads in CBS’ comedy pilot based on TikTok star Sarah Cooper’s book How to Be Successful Without Hurting Men’s Feelings.

Natalie Morales

Morales will star opposite Amy Landecker and Alice Lee in the pilot.

She’ll also serves as a producer on the pilot, from Cooper, Cindy Chupack, Nina Tassler and Denise Di Novi.

Morales will play Joanna, a conflict-averse, people-pleasing middle manager at the small tech company Lucent Muse, whose new hire, Elyse (Lee), challenges her “go along to get along” career philosophy. She lives with her boyfriend of two years, a sweet, loyal guy who might be too sweet and loyal for her.

Morales’ acting credits include The Little Things and Dead to Me. She made her feature directing debut with this year’s Language Lessons, which premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival and won the Audience Award at SXSW. She is an executive producer and director on Plan B, a feature comedy on Hulu that’ll be released in spring 2021; and she’s writing and producing an untitled comedy feature set in Miami from Universal.

Natalie Morales to Star in Paramount+’s “Rugrats” Series Revival

Natalie Morales is getting animated…

The 26-year-old Cuban American actress has joined the voice cast of Paramount+’s Rugrats series revival.

Natalie Morales

Morales will portray Phil and Lil’s mother.

The reimagining is set to debut on Paramount+ this spring.

Reprising their original Rugrats roles are E.G. Daily (Tommy), Nancy Cartwright (Chuckie), Cheryl Chase (Angelica), Cree Summer (Susie) and Kath Soucie (Phil and Lil).

In an interview with Deadline, Nickelodeon President Brian Robbins addressed the decision to keep the original core original cast voicing the kids but bring in new actors for the grown-up roles.

“First of all, we have all the original babies back, all the original cast back, which we are thrilled to have” Robbins said. “Some of the original actors — remember the show is 20-25+  years-old, and we thought there was an opportunity for new exciting comedic voices who grew up watching and being fans of the show and let them do cameos. So we are really excited about our adult cast on Rugrats.

The original Rugrats series premiered 30 years ago, in August of 1991, and some of the actors who played adult characters are no longer alive. The original became a groundbreaking phenomenon, spawning consumer products and three hit theatrical releases, cementing its place in pop culture history through its iconic characters, storytelling and unique visual style. Rugrats was in production for nine seasons over the course of 13 years. The series earned four Daytime Emmy Awards, six Kids’ Choice Awards and its own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The all-new Rugrats is based on the series created by Arlene Klasky, Gabor Csupo and Paul Germain.

Morales’ previous credits include Parks and Recreation, Dead to Me and White Collar.

Natalie Morales to Star in the Sci-Fi Dramedy “I’m Totally Fine”

Natalie Morales is totally fine… Seriously!

The 36-year-old Cuban American actress will star opposite Jillian Bell in the sci-fi dramedy I’m Totally Fine.

Natalie Morales

Hailing from producer Kyle Newacheck and music video vet Brandon Dermer, I’m Totally Fine follows a Vanessa (Bell), a woman in mourning who takes a solo trip to clear her head after the death of her friend (Morales). However, Vanessa’s self-care vacation plans change when she’s met with a situation out of this world.

“We were making a movie that mirrored what we had all collectively been experiencing over 2020, without being literal. The metaphor of it is 2020 and being powerless – all of a sudden everything got taken away from us as we knew it, everything changed,” says Newacheck.

The film, also produced by Jonas Dolkart, also stars Newacheck, Harvey Guillen and Karen Maruyama.

Alisha Ketry penned the I’m Totally Fine script.

Morales previous credits include films Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps and Going the Distance.
