Warner Bros. to Release “Wonder Woman 1984,” Featuring Pedro Pascal, in Theathers & HBO Max on Christmas

Warner Bros. has confirmed plans to release Wonder Woman 1984,starring the 45-year-old Chilean actor as one of the film’s villains, on December 25 in theaters and on HBO Max.

“At some point you have to choose to share any love and joy you have to give, over everything else,” tweeted the film’s director Patty Jenkins. “We love our movie as we love our fans, so we truly hope that our film brings a little bit of joy and reprieve to all of you this holiday season.”

WW84 will get an international theatrical release wherever theaters are open on December 16.

HBO Max isn’t charging an additional amount to subscribers like Disney+did with Mulan for those stateside. Maoyanhas the movie slated for a December 25 release in China as well. The first Wonder Woman made $90.5M there.

WW1984 will only play on HBO Max for the first 30 days before Warner Bros. pulls it off while continuing its run theaters from Day 31 to 60, and then will go on PVOD on Day 61.

“We appreciate how patient audiences have been and given the great anticipation around Wonder Woman 1984 we are grateful to be able to make this terrifically entertaining movie widely available in these challenging times,” said Toby Emmerich, Chairman, Warner Bros. Pictures Group.

The film’s plot: In 1984, during the Cold War, Diana Prince comes into conflict with two formidable foes—media businessman Maxwell Lord (Pascal) and friend-turned-enemy Barbara Ann Minerva while reuniting with her love interest Steve Trevor.

Christina Aguilera Releases New “Mulan” Single, “Loyal Brave True,” for the Film’s Soundtrack

Christina Aguilera is back with new Mulan music…

22 years after the release of “Reflection” from Disney‘s 1998 Mulan soundtrack, the 39-year-old half-Ecuadorian American Grammy-winning singer and former Disney star has returned to the franchise with “Loyal Brave True” — the new single for the upcoming live-action remake.

The song is filled with the undeniable warrior spirit people have come to love Mulan for, but also updates the lead character’s story for the 21st century.

“Should I ask myself in the water what a warrior would do? / Tell me underneath my armor, am I loyal, brave, and true?” Aguilera sings on the chorus. The star’s powerful vocals take full charge as the production fuses orchestral melodies with classic Chinese instruments like the guzheng.

“The film Mulanand the song ‘Reflection’ coincided with getting me my first record deal,” Aguilera explained in a press release. “It’s amazing to come back to such an incredible movie that’s full of power and meaning, and that meaning holds the test of time: staying true to yourself, being who you are, and teaching how to be fearless. My new song, ‘Loyal Brave True,’ represents the fine balance between vulnerability and strength.”

The singer also tweeted the original movie “has been such a special part of my life & this is a beautiful continuation of the legacy.”

Along with “Loyal Brave True,” Aguilera also revealed she recorded an updated 2020 version of “Reflection.” While the original song didn’t crack any major charts (it peaked at No. 19 on Billboard‘s US Adult Contemporary chart), it has become a fan favorite. Aguilera previously performed it at Disney‘s D23 Expo last fall, where she was honored as a Disney legend. Most people believe that a straight iron is only used when you want to rock smooth, straight, and sleek strands. However, this is not true and you can use a straight iron for curling your hair.

The Mulan soundtrack will be released on March 25, with the remake (starring Liu Yifeias the titular character) set to release on March 27.

Ortega to Direct the Disney Channel’s Live-Action Original Movie “Descendants”

Kenny Ortega will be bringing some evil descendants to life…

The 63-year-old Latino producer, director and choreographer, best known for directing the High School Musical trilogy, will be returning to the Disney Channel to helm the network’s Descendants.

The network’s first live-action original movie tapping into Disney’s vault of classic fairytale characters, the contemporary adventure-comedy centers on the offspring of some of Disney’s most evil villains, introducing a modern generation of teenagers who question the evil that’s always been in their hearts.

“We mined Disney’s treasure trove of stories and developed a new, comedic approach to the fabled characters everyone knows and loves,” said Gary Marsh, President and Chief Creative Officer of Disney Channels Worldwide. “The result is a modern and unexpected re-interpretation of classic heritage characters utilizing contemporary, relatable settings and themes.”

Descendants

Written by Josann McGibbon and Sara Parriott, Descendants is set in a present-dayidyllic kingdom, where the benevolent teenaged son of the King and Queen (Beast and Belle from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast) is poised to take the throne. His first proclamation: offer a chance at redemption to the trouble-making offspring of Cruella De Vil, Maleficent, the Evil Queen and Jafar who have been imprisoned on a forbidden island with all the other villains, sidekicks, evil step-mothers and step-sisters. These villainous descendants (Carlos, Mal, Evvie and Jay, respectively) are allowed into the kingdom to attend prep school alongside the offspring of iconic Disney heroes including Fairy Godmother, Sleeping Beauty, Rapunzel and Mulan. However, the evil teens face a dilemma: Should they follow in their nefarious parents’ footsteps and help all the villains regain power or embrace their innate goodness and save the kingdom?

Casting is currently underway, overseen by High School Musical casting directors Natalie Hart and Jason La Padura, with production slated to begin in the spring for a 2015 premiere on Disney Channel.
