Leto Wins Best On-Screen Transformation at the MTV Movie Awards

Jared Leto is the ultimate transformer

The 42-year-old part-Spanish actor/singer took home the prize for Best On-Screen Transformation at the 2014 MTV Movie Awards, which were handed out Sunday at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.

Jared Leto

Leto won the award for his gender-bending performance in Dallas Buyers Club, a role for which he also earned an Oscar earlier this year.

“The Academy is really prestigious but this is unique because everybody has the right to vote and you get people from all over the world that chime in and say whatever you want to say so it means a lot,” said Leto backstage of his win. “It’s nice to be able to get up on stage and to thank people directly.”

Earlier this year, Leto offered insight into his critically-acclaimed role in “Making Rayon Real,” a featurette about the character Rayon, a male-to-female transgender character addicted to drugs and dying of AIDS.

Bruno Bichir to Appear on FX’s “The Bridge,” Opposite His Brother Demián

Bruno Bichir’s next role will have him working closely with his older brother.

The 46-year-old Mexican actor has landed a recurring role on FX’s critically acclaimed drama The Bridge, which stars his Oscar-winning brother Demián Bichir.

Bruno Bichir

Bruno will portray a wealthy Mexican business leader to winds up involved with Marco (Demian). But the businessman may not be what he seems.

The characters are unrelated in the show, but in real life the brothers are both members of a prolific Mexican acting family.

The siblings previously worked together on projects including the movie Don’t Tempt Me and the Spanish-language feature Sin noticias de Dios (Bendito infierno).

The family is such an institution in their native country that Mexico’s MTV Movie Awards has even given out awards in the category “Best Bichir in a Movie.”

“I couldn’t be happier to work again with my brother Demian,” Bruno says. “I’m a huge fan of the show so it’s an enormous honor for me to become a part of it”.

The Bridge executive producer Elwood Reid first met Bruno last year at the show’s launch party in Los Angeles. The actor, who was there to cheer on his brother Demian, made an impression. Reid began to pursue him for a role he had contemplated for Season 2.

“We knew Bruno was a big star in Mexico,” says executive producer Carolyn Bernstein. “There is something about him that’s very charismatic and sympathetic. He’s a compelling presence.”

Bernstein says Reid had been thinking about the Bruno role for month. “It felt like a juicy role, so we approached him about it,” she says.

Bruno will appear in multiple episodes next season, but the count isn’t certified yet. “The character will unfold over time,” Bernstein says. “I don’t know how long he will be with us. That has a high impact.”

Bruno’s other credits include starring opposite Tilda Swinton in Julia.

“I’m always excited about new members on our cast and of course I’m specially thrilled to have my brother Bruno on board,” Demian says. “He is one of the finest actors I know. We’ve worked together on films and theater, but never before on a TV show. This is going to be fun.”

First Trailer Release for Alba’s “Sin City: A Dame to Kill For”

Jessica Alba’s back in the Sin City sequel… And, she’s ready to set hearts aflutter all over again, as evidenced in the just-released trailer for the film.

The 32-year-old half-Mexican American actress first caused tongues to wag when she starred as exotic dancer Nancy Callahan in Sin City. The performance even earned her an MTV Movie Award for Sexiest Performance.

Jessica Alba in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For

Nine years later, Alba is back in the follow-up film Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. And, if the just-released trailer is any indication, she could win another MTV Movie Award.

The film, directed by Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller, is primarily based on the second neo-noir graphic novel in the Sin City series by Miller.

In addition to Alba, the film also sees the return of original cast members Rosario Dawson, Jaime King, Powers Boothe, Mickey Rourke and Bruce Willis.

Newcomers to the sequel include Eva Green, Josh Brolin, Jamie Chung, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Christopher Meloni, Lady Gaga and Jeremy Piven.

Dimension Films will release the film on August 22, 2014.

Diaz Earns an MTV Movie Award Nomination for “The Counselor”

Make that three decades of recognition for Cameron Diaz

The 41-year-old half-Cuban American actress has received an MTV Movie Award nomination for the third consecutive decade.

Cameron DIaz

This week, Diaz earned the sixteenth MTV Movie Award nod of her career when MTV announced this year’s nominees.

The Charlie’s Angels star, a two-time MTV Movie Award winner, is competing in the #WTFMoment category for getting down and dirt with a yellow Ferrari in The Counselor.

But Diaz isn’t the only Hispanic artist nominated for an MTV Movie Award.

Howie Dorough and his Backstreet Boys band mates have earned a nod in the Best Musical Moment category, alongside Jay Baruchel, Seth Rogen and Craig Robinson.

The 40-year-old half-Puerto Rican singer and the gang are nominated for their oh-so-memorable musical scene at the end of the apocalyptic comedy This is the End.

Gomez Releases Her Official “Come and Get It” Music Video

Selena Gomez is giving you’re the chance to come and get it online…

Following performances of the song at the MTV Movie Awards and Radio Disney Music Awards, the 20-year-old half-Mexican American singer/actress has released the official music video for her latest single “Come and Get It.”

Selena Gomez

In contrast to the Eastern-inspired theme she had in her appearances at the 2013 MTV Movie Awards, Dancing with the Stars and Radio Disney Music Awards, Gomez went for a different, tribal feel in the five-minute clip instead.

But Gomez kept her flowing dress for the music video, opening the stunning visuals with a black transparent outfit as she lies on the rich blue-green field. Similar to her live performances, she is joined by her crew of back-up dancers as she gyrates in her deep red costume. She then changes into an off-white multi-layered attire that looks stunning against the nature backdrop.

“Come and Get It” ushers in the forthcoming arrival of Gomez’s new album this summer, for which the Spring Breakers star is set to go on a 50-city worldwide tour to promote it.

Gomez Dazzles During Her MTV Movie Awards Performance of “Come and Get It”

Forget Hollywood! Selena Gomez is a Bollywood dream…

The 20-year-old half-Mexican American singer/actress and former Disney Channel star channeled a sexy version of Aladdin’s Princess Jasmine when she performed her brand new single “Come and Get It” on Sunday at the 2013 MTV Movie Awards.

Selena Gomez

Gomez, who debuted the first single from her upcoming album earlier than planned last weekend, dressed in a deep red Bollywood-inspired outfit and gave viewers a taste of Eastern music and dance. Wild-haired and bare-footed, the Spring Breakers star’s performance was a mash up of Arabic, Indian and Thai dancing.

Despite being nervous about performing “Come and Get It” live for the first time, as Gomez revealed during the rehearsals, she managed to shine bright during her song-and-dance number.

Earlier this month, Jason Evigan, who collaborated on Gomez’s new material, said: “I think it’s going to take her to the next level… She’s got some really cool like ethnic influence, kind of tribally dance drums and stuff like that. I kind of feel she’s going to be like a new J.Lo kind of thing.”

Gomez Releases New Single “Come & Get It” Days Earlier Than Planned

Selena Gomez is giving the world the chance to come & get it a little earlier than expected…

The 20-year-old half-Mexican American singer/actress released her brand new single “Come & Get It” on Ryan Seacrest’s website Saturday, two days before it was scheduled for release.

Selena Gomez's Come & Get It

The Spring Breakers‘ star had spent the last week teasing fans with snippets of the song, but released it in its entirety after the song leaked early.

The new single combines a Bhangra beat and vocal with a dance vibe and memorable bridge.

“You got the kind of love that I want, let me get that/ And baby once I get it, I’m yours; no take-backs/ I’m gon’ love you for life, I ain’t leaving your side,” she sings. “Even if you knock it, ain’t no way to stop it / Forever you’re mine, baby, I’m addicted; no lie.”

Gomez addressed the leak in a video message.

“Hey guys, so my song got leaked today, my first single,” she said. “I’m actually kind of excited because you can finally hear it! And I hope you guys like it.”

“Come *& Get It” received so much attention that it crashed Seacrest’s website.

“Can’t even stand it. #selenatorsarethebest,” she tweeted on Saturday and, one day later, she still seemed excited by the response.

“You guys made my day all day today. #Comeandgetitnow. Love you guys XOXO.”

Gomez is scheduled to perform “Come & Get It,” the lead single off her highly anticipated new album, at the MTV Movie Awards on April 14 when she takes the stage in Culver City.
