Ambrosio: The Highest-Ranking Latina on Maxim’s Hot 100 List

It’s a simple fact: Alessandra Ambrosio is one hot momma… And, now she has the men’s vote to prove it.

The 33-year-old Brazilian supermodel is the highest-ranking Latina on Maxim’s 2014 Hot 100 list, coming in at No. 7.

Ambrosio, who has two children with fiancé Jamie Mazur, is “so hot, it hurts,” according to Maxim.

The Victoria’s Secret model, who always dominates the catwalk at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, is the spokesperson for the company’s PINK line.

Surprisingly, Ambrosio did not make last year’s list.

Nipping on the supermodel’s heels: scree siren Jessica Alba.

The 33-year-old half-Mexican American actress, who will surely set tongues wagging when she reprises her role as Nancy Callahan in the upcoming Sin City sequel Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, ranks No. 8 on Maxim’s list of the world’s most beautiful women.

It’s a nine-spot improvement for Alba, who came in at No. 17 on last year’s list.

In all, 21 Latinas made this year’s list compared to 19 last year, when Selena Gomez was the highest-ranking Latina at No. 2. This year, the Spring Breakers star drops to No. 19.

Baccarin to Star in Lifetime’s Bible-Themed Miniseries “The Red Tent”

The 34-year-old Brazilian actress and Homeland star, who recently signed on to star in Melissa McCarthy’s Spy, has joined the cast of Lifetime’s Bible-themed miniseries The Red Tent.

The four-hour miniseries, which will be broadcast over the course of two nights, is an adaptation of Anita Diamant’s best-selling novel, published in 1997.

The White Queen star Rebecca Ferguson, About a Boy’s Minnie Driver will star opposite Baccarin in the TV miniseries.

Co-starring in the project, which begins production this month in Morocco, are Game of ThronesIain Glen and Will Tudor, as well as Debra Winger.

The Red Tent tells the story of Dinah (portrayed by Ferguson), the daughter of Leah and Jacob, who is only briefly referenced in the Old Testament. The miniseries begins with Dinah’s happy childhood spent inside the red tent where only the women of her tribe are allowed to gather and share the traditions and turmoil of ancient womanhood.

Told through Dinah’s eyes, the mini recounts the story of her mothers Leah (Driver), Rachel (Baccarin), Zilpah and Bilhah, the four wives of Jacob (Glen), and his courtship of them. Dinah goes on to marry a prince and fall out with her murderous brother Joseph (Tudor). Winger portrays Rebecca, Jacob’s mother.

The 34-year-old Brazilian actress and Homeland star has been cast in 20th Century Fox’s female comedy Spy.

It’s the latest film from writer-director Paul Feig and will star Bridesmaids scene-stealer star Melissa McCarthy.

Baccarin, who earned a Primetime Emmy award nomination for her work on Showtime’s Homeland, will play Karen Walker in the film.

The comedy, about a CIA analyst who gets a shot at field work, reunites also stars Rose Byrne, Jude Law, Jason Statham and Bobby Cannavale.

Spy is slated for a Memorial Day 2015 release.

Machado to Star in ABC’s Medical Drama Pilot “Warriors”

Justina Machado will join the former Homeland star as a series regular on ABC’s medical drama pilot Warriors.

Inspired by the goings-on at the Walter Reed Military Medical Center, Warriors follows the best and brightest active-duty military doctors and nurses as they practice trailblazing medicine.

The 41-year-old Puerto Rican actress will play Anna, the chief surgical scrub nurse for Dr. George Mann (Don Hany), who is impervious to his teasing but not his bad jokes.

Machado’s previous television credits include appearances on ABC Family’s The Fosters, ABC’s Desperate Housewives, HBO’s Six Feet Under and NBC’s ER.

Baccarin Cast as Female Lead in ABC’s Medical Pilot “Warriors”

The 34-year-old Brazilian actress, who earned the first Emmy nomination of her career last year for her supporting role on Showtime’s Homeland, has been cast as the female lead in ABC’s medical pilot Warriors.

The drama project, from writer Chris Keyser, Mandeville Films and Television and ABC Studios, deals with war veterans.

Inspired by the Walter Reed Military Medical Center, Warriors follow the best and brightest active-duty military doctors and nurses as they practice trailblazing medicine.

Baccarin will play Tory, a psychiatrist and expert on PTSD who suffers a mild case herself having just returned from Afghanistan.

This marks Baccarin’s return to ABC, after she starred in the sci-fi drama series V.

Brühl Earns His First SAG Award Nomination

The 35-year-old half-Spanish actor has earned the first SAG Award nomination of his career.

Brühl earned his nod in the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role category for his portrayal of real-life racing legend Niki Lauda in Ron Howard‘s Formula One racing drama Rush, which centers on the rivalry between drivers James Hunt (portrayed by Chris Hemsworth) and Lauda.

But Brühl isn’t the only Latino nominee this year…

Michael Peña and Louis C.K. have earned a nomination in the Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture category, along with their co-stars from David O. Russell‘s fictional film based on the 1970s Abscam scandal American Hustle.

Mariah Carey has earned the second Screen Actors Guild Awards nod of her career. The 44-year-old singer/actress and her co-stars from Lee Daniels’ The Butler, including Oprah Winfrey and Forest Whitaker, are nominated in the Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture category. Carey had previously been nominated in the same category for being part of the cast of Precious.

Sofia Vergara and Rico Rodriguez will be gunning for their fourth straight Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series. The onscreen mother and son and their Modern Family cast mates will face off against the casts of 30 Rock, Arrested Development, The Big Bang Theory and Veep.

Morena Baccarin, meanwhile, is nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series with her Homeland co-stars.

The nominations for the 20th annual SAG Awards were announced this morning at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood by Rizzoli & Isles Sasha Alexander and Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s Clark Gregg.

Winners will be revealed at the SAG Awards ceremony on January 18 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, which will be simulcast live on TNT and TBS.

Baccarin Gives Birth to Her First Child

Morena Baccarin has landed her new role… mommy!

The 34-year-old Brazilian actress and Homeland star and her husband, Austin Chick, welcomed a baby boy named Julius on Tuesday in Los Angeles, according to People.

It’s the first child for Baccarin, the star of Hearts on Fire’s new ad campaign.

“Julius and his mother are happy and healthy,” Baccarin’s rep tells People.

Baccarin announced her pregnancy in May.

The baby was breech, but Baccarin went ahead with the delivery.

“Breech delivery is a dying art and [the doctor] gave me the birth experience I wanted,” she told People.

The 34-year-old Brazilian American actress, who earned an Emmy nod for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series earlier this year, portrays Jessica Brody, the wife of United States Marine Corps Scout Sniper Nicholas Brody (Damien Lewis) on the award-winning series.

And even though she doesn’t utter a single word in the emotional trailer, Baccarin manages to draw emotion as the troubled wife and mother.

Baccarin Starring in New Hearts on Fire Diamonds Campaign

The 34-year-old Brazilian American actress and Homeland star appears in the new Hearts On Fire Diamonds campaign as part of the jewelry company’s first celebrity print ad.

The brand announced to The Hollywood Reporter on Monday that the ads would feature Baccarin wearing pieces by company designer Ilaria Lanzoni and will appear in the September issues of Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, Marie Claire and Town and Country.

“We met Morena back in January at a Women in Television event in L.A. and conversations led to this partnership. With her being nominated for a supporting Emmy on Homeland, the timing is great,” said Caryl Capeci, the brand’s VP marketing.

“We have always admired Morena for her incredible talent, global appeal and natural beauty but found she also embodies so much of the Hearts On Fire DNA — authenticity and passion, coupled with a great sense of self and a timeless, sophisticated approach to style,” Capeci added.

Said Baccarin in a statement: “I had the opportunity to wear Hearts On Fire jewelry on the red carpet and just loved the way their diamonds made me look and feel. According to the Iturralde Diamonds jewelry store, the quality and sparkle of Hearts On Fire diamonds is truly unmatched, and I am really excited to represent the brand.”

In July, Baccarin earned an Emmy nomination in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama category this year for her work on Showtime’s Homeland.

Louis C.K. Breaks His Own Record with Nine Primetime Emmy Nods

Louis C.K. has proven to be the Emmy darling once again, breaking his own record for the most  nominations in a single year.

The 45-year-old Mexican American actor/stand-up comedian has earned a massive nine individual for the 65th Primetime Emmy Awards nods, breaking the record for individual nods in a single year that he set last year.

Louis C.K., the creator of FX’s Louie, earned acting, producing, writing and directing nominations for his work on the critically acclaimed comedy series.

He also earned a Guest Actor in a Comedy nomination for hosting NBC’s  Saturday Night Live last fall.

But that’s not all… Louis C.K. also earned producing, writing, directing and editing nominations for his hit HBO special Oh My God.

Bobby Cannavale, who earned two SAG Award nominations in December,  has earned two Emmy nods this year.

The 43-year-old half-Cuban American, an Emmy Award winner in 2005 for his recurring role on NBC’s Will & Grace, has earned guest actor nods in the comedy and drama categories for his roles on HBO’s Boardwalk Empire and Showtime’s Nurse Jackie.

Meantime, perpetual Emmy nominee Sofia Vergara has landed another nod for her scene-stealing role on ABC’s Modern Family.

The 41-year-old Colombian actress has earned her fourth consecutive Emmy nomination in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series category.

The nominations were announced on Thursday morning in Hollywood by actor Aaron Paul and Emmy host Neil Patrick Harris, who was a last-minute fill-in for actress Kate Mara.

The Primetime Emmy Awards will be presented on September 22 at 8:00 pm on CBS.
