USA Network Renews Torres’ “Suits” for a Seventh Season

USA Network has renewed its longest-running original scripted series Suits, starring the 47-year-old Cuban American actress, for a 16-season seventh season for a premiere in 2017.

The news comes just three episodes into the legal drama’s Season 6 run and will push Suits through the 100-episode mark, the fifth USA scripted series to do that after Monk, Burn Notice, Psych and Royal Pains.

Suits, from Universal Cable Prods., continues to be a solid ratings performer, averaging more than 3 million total viewers and 1.1 million P18-49 in Live+3 in its sixth season to date. That is off slightly from Season 5.

The current season focuses on Mike (Patrick J. Adams) facing the tough reality of prison life, with his relationship with his fiancée Rachel (Meghan Markle), and the future of Pearson Specter Litt hanging in the balance. Gabriel Macht, Sarah Rafferty and Rick Hoffman also star.

The series, which airs Wednesdays at 9:00 pm, was created by Aaron Korsh.

Chavira to Star in NBC’s “Welcome to the Family” Pilot

The 41-year-old Mexican American actor, best known for his role as Eva Longoria’s TV husband Carlos Solis on ABC’s Desperate Housewives, has landed one of the lead roles in NBC’s comedy pilot Welcome to the Family.

Chavira will star opposite Mike O’Malley in the project, which chronicles just how two cultures collide when a white family and a Latino family are united by their children, who fare falling in love must deal with an unplanned pregnancy.

Mary McCormack is also slated to star in the project, which is being produced by Sony Television.

Chavira will portray the divorced Latino father of the boy who got O’Malley and McCormack’s daughter pregnant – an ex-convict who has turned his life around.

Chavira’s other credits include recurring roles on Six Feet Under and The Division, as well as guest-starring roles on Joan of Arcadia, Kingpin and Monk.

Chabán to Host & Produce a Web-Based Healthy Living Talk Show

He’s written about his own childhood struggle with obesity… And, now Alejandro Chabán is taking his healthy eating message to the internet.

The 30-year-old Venezuelan actor and writer—who wrote a book entitled De Gordo a Galan, where he opened up about his suicide attempt due to his obesitywill executive produce and host an informative and motivational talk show on YouTube’s NuevOn channel.

Entitled Yes, You Can with Chabán, the talk show will seek to inform and inspire the public to improve their quality of life.

“This it is my greatest dream, the mission of my life to bring to the young public a message about my way of living healthy and that they have a weekly resource with my show that will live there on YouTube 24 hours a day, seven days a week, available always to help them” says Chabán, who has starred in various telenovelas, as well as guest-starred on Monk.

In each episode, Chabán will use elements related to food, as well as parts comedy, parts drama and parts of reality television to educate people on how to lead a healthy life.

“To lose weight, to get in shape and learn about nutrition doesn’t have to be boring, on the contrary,” says Chabán. “My showwill be directed to that web audience on YouTube that does not only want to lose weight, but stay healthy and educate their brothers and sisters, children and families on living a healthy and happy life.”

Yes, You Can with Chabán will premiere on Monday, April 16 on YouTube.
