La Santa Cecilia Shares Teaser of New Visual Album “Amar y Vivir”

Prepare for a visual (musical) feast from La Santa Cecilia…

After parading through the colorful streets of Mexico City to record their forthcoming visual album Amar y Vivir, Grammy-winning band is offering a first look at their new audiovisual production via Billboard.

Featuring collaborations with Mexican singer Eugenia León and Chilean songstress Mon Laferte, among others, the visual album was recorded live in bars, parks and iconic plazas — like the Zócalo and Parque México — in just five days.

“Amar y Vivir is a collection of songs that are very near and dear to our heart, and to the history of the band, and to us as musicians,” vocalist La Marisoul said in a statement.

“These are the songs that we learned from our parents; the songs we heard at parties. We learned how to play music with these songs, and I learned how to be a singer through these boleros and rancheros. These are the songs that we always return to when we’re in a family gathering or just us amongst the band. These are always the songs we play, enjoy and sing together.”

Amar y vivir follows the band’s Grammy-nominated LP Buenaventura.

The new visual album will be released on May 12 under indie label Rebeleon Entertainment and produced by Grammy-winning Sebastian Krys.

The first two singles from the record, “Leña de pirul” and “Amar y vivir,” will drop on April 7.

Venegas to Perfom at Chicago’s Ruido Fest

Julieta Venegas is ready to make some ruido in the Windy City…

The 46-year-old Mexican American singer will take the stage at Chicago’s 2017 Ruido Fest.

Venegas, a Grammy and Latin Grammy-winning singer, joins a lineup that includes Cultura Profética and Molotov.

Adding a norteño twist to the alt-rock set of performers is legendary band Intocable, who will perform alongside Alejandro Marcovich, former Caifanes guitarist.

Other bands set to perform include Bomba Estéreo, Fobia, Duncan Dhu, Titan, Mon Laferte, Javiera Mena, Alex Anwandter, Adan Jodorowsky and Buscabulla. More artists will be announced in the upcoming months.

The third annual Ruido Fest will take place on July 7-9 at Addams/Medill Park with tickets for the three-day fest on sale now.

“We are very appreciative of the support of the local and international community that have supported,” Ruido Fest founder Max Wagner said in a statement.

“We always are looking to reward the faith that the fans show in us by striving to bring in the best talent, and provide opportunities for artists that don’t receive a lot of chances to perform in this country. Our goal this year, and every year, is to provide the best experience and best value possible for our loyal fans.”

Last year’s performers included Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, Panteon Rococó, Carla Morrison, Natalia Lafourcade, Aterciopelados and Maldita Vecindad.

Gente de Zona to Co-Headline Celia Cruz Tribute at the Hollywood Bowl

Gente de Zona is preparing to pay tribute to a late compatriot…

The Cuban reggaeton group, comprised of Alexander Delgado and Randy Malcom Martinez, will perform at the the Hollywood Bowl’s special tribute honoring Celia Cruz.

Co-headlined by Grammy-winning singer/songwriter Angélique Kidjo and Gente de Zona, the tribute to the late Queen of Salsa will take place on August 9 as part of the Hollywood Bowl’s Jazz at the Bowl summer series.

In addition to the Latin Grammy-winning duo and Kidjo, Pedrito Martinez will also perform at the tribute.

The Pedrito Martinez Group, whose Habana Dreams album debuted at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Tropical Albums chart last June, will be the opening act.

It’ll be the first time Gente de Zona has performed at the iconic Hollywood Bowl.

“We are thrilled to be part of the Hollywood Bowl’s summer season this year. See you soon in California,” the “Traidora” singers tweeted.

The Celia Cruz tribute is part of the Hollywood Bowl’s summer 2017 lineup recently announced. Other Latin artists on the summer schedule include Café Tacvba, La Santa Cecilia and Mon Laferte, who will perform at the Bowl on Sepember 17 as part of the Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA series.

The Chamanas are extending a music branch…

The Fronterizo Indie pop fusion ensemble, consisting of Manuel Calderon, Hector Carreon, Paulina Reza, Alejandro Bustillos and Fernando Fonseca, has released the music video for their single “Ramas.”

The new video follows the release of their debut album’s Once Once deluxe version, which was released back in September.

The clip, filmed during a studio session, features the Latin Grammy nominated band’s new vocalist Paulina Reza — who joined the bordertown group after Once Once’s deluxe release.

Representing border cities El Paso and Ciudad Juárez, The Chamanas — known for their ’70’s-inspired ballads and contemporary beats — are among the 10 acts nominated for best new artist in this year’s Latin Grammys. The indie band is up against such artists as Chilean balladeer Mon Laferte, Colombian singer-songwriter Esteman, regional Mexican singer Joss Favela and Colombian artist Manuel Medrano.

Latin Grammy darlings Jesse & Joy have a special date in Las Vegas…

The Mexican duo, comprised of Jesse Huerta and his sister Joy Huerta, will take the stage at this year’s Latin Grammys.

Jesse & Joy, who received nominations in all three major categories, join a roster of performers that includes Fonseca, Mon Laferte, Manuel Medrano, Gente de Zona, Alexis y Fido, Joss Favela and Wisin.

To kick off the awards ceremony, Latin Grammy and Grammy-winning artist Juanes will team up with the cast of Cirque Du Soleil‘s Mystere and Pablo López for a special performance.

Other Latin superstars set to perform are J Balvin, Banda Los Recoditos, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, Farruko featuring Ky-Mani Marley, Laura Pausini, Prince Royce ft. Gerardo Ortiz, Diego Torres ft. Rachel Platten, Carlos Vives and Yandel.

This year’s Latin Grammys, will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on November 17.

The show, to be hosted by Roselyn Sánchez and Sebastian Rulli, will air live on Univision at 8 p.m. ET, with a red carpet special, Noche de Estrellas, airing one hour before the awards show.
