Apple Original Films Releases Trailer for Anya Taylor-Joy’s Survival Action Film “The Gorge”

Anya Taylor-Joy is in survivor mode… with a side of romance.

Apple Original Films has officially debuted the thrilling first trailer for the survival action film The Gorge, starring the 28-year-old Argentine American Golden Globe-winning actress.

The Gorge, which premieres February 14 on Apple TV+, was written by Zach Dean and directed by Scott Derrickson.

Taylor-Joy and Teller star as Drasa and Levi, two elite snipers appointed to guard posts on opposite sides of a deep, highly-classified gorge that protects the world from the mysterious evil lurking below.

“You need to stop what’s in the gorge from coming out,” Levi’s comrade tells him. “The gorge is the door to Hell, and we’re standing guard at the gate.”

Forbidden from communicating with the outside or even with each other, it doesn’t take long before he and Drasa get bored and start flirting with binoculars and notepads.

When their security is breached, Levi falls into the gorge and Drasa goes after him. Now, they must work together to keep the secret of the gorge buried.

“This place is evil,” she says.

The film also stars Sigourney Weaver as the government official who sends Levi on his year-long mission

Olga Merediz to Star in A24’s Rom-Com “Eternity”

Olga Merediz isn’t waiting an eternity to lock in her next project.

The 68-year-old Cuban actress and singer has joined the cast alongside John Early of A24’s Eternity.

Olga MeredizThe romantic comedy, in which people must decide who they want to spend eternity with, also stars Miles Teller, Elizabeth Olsen, Callum Turner and Da’Vine Joy Randolph.

David Freyne is directing the movie; Pat Cunnane wrote the script, which appeared on the 2022 Black List.

A24 is financing and distributing the rom-com, as well as producing with Star Thrower Entertainment and its founders Trevor White and Tim White. The film is currently in production.

Merediz is best known for originating the role of Abuela Claudia in the Broadway musical In the Heights. She was nominated for a Tony Award for her performance, and she reprised the role in Jon M. Chu’s film adaptation.

Merediz also voiced a role in Disney’s animated musical hit Encanto, and her television credits include Orange Is the New Black and Shades of Blue.

Ana De Armas to Star in the Action-Thriller “Three Seconds”

The 29-year-old Cuban actress has landed a role in Andrea Di Stefano’s Three Seconds, based on the best-selling Swedish novel by Anders Roslund and Börge Hellström.

She joins a cast that includes Joel Kinnaman, Rosamund Pike, Common and Clive Owen.

The action-thriller was written by Matt Cook, with revisions by Rowan Joffé and current revisions by DiStefano.

The story follows reformed criminal and former Special Ops soldier Pete Hoffman who, in order to free himself from jail and return to his wife and daughter, has been working undercover for crooked FBI handlers to infiltrate the Polish mob’s drug trade in New York. In a final step toward freedom, Hoffman must return to the one place he’s fought so hard to leave: Bale Hill Prison, where his mission becomes a race against time when a drug deal goes wrong and threatens his identity as a mole.

De Armas will play Hoffman’s wife, Sofia, a small-businesswoman who owns a grocery store. She most recently was seen in Hands of Stone with Edgar Ramirez and Robert De Niro, and War Dogs with Jonah Hill and Miles Teller.

She’ll next appear in Blade Runner 2049 with Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford, which will bow in the U.S. on October 6 via Warner Bros.

Hernandez to Star Opposite Emma Stone in Lionsgate’s Musical Film “La La Land”

The Latina actress has joined the cast of Lionsgate’s film La La Land.

Damien Chazelle’s musical, set in contemporary Los Angeles, stars Ryan Gosling as a jazz pianist and Emma Stone as the aspiring actress he falls in love with. The catch: the city that brought them together may tear them apart, as they soon discover that balancing love and art in such a cutthroat climate isn’t easy.

Hernandez, who has appeared in Robert Rodriguez’s Machete Kills and Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, has been cast as on of Stone’s three roommates. The other two roommates will be played by Sonoya Mizuno and Jessica Rothe.

La La Land has already secured a July 15, 2016 release date.

The film originally had Miles Teller and Emma Watson in the works to star. Teller and Chazelle had teamed on Whiplash, and the writer-director penned La La Land before that movie, which landed a Best Picture nomination last year and won him the Adapted Screenplay Oscar. But Teller moved on and Lionsgate scooped up Gosling and Stone in April.

Hernandez’s other credits include television appearances on From Dusk Till Dawn and Members Only. She’ll next star in the upcoming film Cover Girl.

de Armas’ “Arms & The Dudes” Set for March 2016 Release

Ana de Armas and her Dudes will be hitting theaters next March…

Warner Bros. has set the release date for Arms & The Dudes, starring the 27-year-old Cuban actress, for March 11, 2016.

Based on the Rolling Stone article by Guy Lawson, the film follows two arms dealers Efraim Diveroli and David Packouz, who get a government contract to supply weapons for US troops in Afghanistan.

de Armas portrays Iz in the Todd Phillips-directed biographical crime comedy, which also stars Jonah HillMiles Teller and J. B. Blanc.

de Armas’ will next appear in the Edgar Ramirez-starrer Hands of Stone, which tells the story of boxing legend Roberto Duran.

The 26-year-old Cuban actress has landed a starring role opposite Miles Teller and Jonah Hill in Warner Bros.’ Arms and The Dudes.

The Todd Phillips film, which heads into production this month, revolves around two buddies who join forces as young adults to become successful international arms dealers until they find themselves well beyond their depth.

The film is based on a 2011 Rolling Stone article by Guy Lawson.

de Armas was at the Sundance Film Festival last month with her latest movie, Eli Roth’s Knock Knock, in which she stars opposite Keanu Reeves.

Her credits include the upcoming Roberto Duran biopic Hands of Stone and she’s shooting Gee Malik Linton’s mystery-thriller Daughter of God right now in New York City.

Casciani to Star in the Vinnie Pazienza Biopic “Bleed For This”

The half-Brazilian actress has landed a role in director Ben Younger’s Vinnie Pazienza biopic Bleed For This.

Casciani will portray Heather, a love interest for boxing champ Pazienza (played by Miles Teller).

The cast also includes Katey Sagal, Aaron Eckhart and Ciaran Hands.

She has a recurring role on the CW’s Jane The Virgin, starring Gina Rodriguez.

Her credits include television appearances on Reckless, Murder In The First, CSI and Revenge.

Salazar to Star Opposite Shailene Woodley and Theo James in the “Divergent” Sequel “Insurgent”

It looks like Rosa Salazar has ties to insurgent groups…

The Canadian-born Latina actress, best known for her role on NBC’s drama series Parenthood, has joined the science fictionaction film Insurgent, based on the novel of the same name by Veronica Roth.

Salazar will portray Lynn in the sequel to the Divergent and the second installment in the Divergent film series.

Summit’s follow-up to the blockbuster hitsees the return of Shailene Woodley and Theo James as citizens in a world where people are divided into factions based on certain values.

Robert Schwentke is directing the sequel — currently shooting in Atlanta — from a script by Brian Duffield and Akiva Goldsman.

The sequel, set for release March 20, 2015, sees most of the cast returning, including Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Kate Winslet, Jai Courtney and Zoe Kravitz. Among new additions are Octavia Spencer, who will play Johanna, Suki Waterhouse, Naomi Watts, Daniel Dae Kim and Jonny Weston.

The story follows Tris (Woodley) and Four (James), now fugitives on the run, who must find out what Tris’ family sacrificed their lives to protect, and why the Erudite leaders will do anything to stop them.

Lynn is one of the Dauntless-born initiates, and, in Veronica Roth‘s books, she’s described as beautiful and sporting a shaved head. She’s good friends with Uriah and Marlene (Waterhouse) in the books.

The first film based on Roth’s popular YA series, Divergent, opened in March, going on to earn $267 million worldwide.

In addition to Parenthood, Salazar also appeared on the first season of American Horror Story.

Her film credits include voicing a character in Epic and appearing in the 2014 film Jamesy Boy. She’ll next be seen in the upcoming films Search Party, Night Owls, Submerged and May the Best Man Win.

Kid Cudi to Star in “Two Night Stand”

The 28-year-old part-Mexican American hip-hop singer has joined the cast of Two Night Stand, an indie romantic comedy starring Miles Teller and Analeigh Tipton.

The film, to be helmed by Max Nichols in his feature directorial debut, centers on two people who meet online and get together for a one-night stand. The couple gets snowed in the next morning and is forced to spend more time together.

Mescudi will play the boyfriend of Tipton’s roommate, played by Jessica Szohr, who is endlessly amused by her romantic difficulties.

The film is currently shooting in New York.

Mescudi, who has worked with Kanye West and David Guetta, made his acting debut on HBO’s How to Make It in America and recently wrapped Goodbye World, an indie with Entourage’s Adrian Grenier.

In addition to his acting work, the multi-hypenante has also contributed to soundtracks for DreamWorksFright Night and Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games.
