Shakira Gives Birth to Second Son with Gerard Pique

Shakira is pulling double duty…

The 37-year-old Colombian pop singer has given birth to a boy, her second child with her partner, Spanish football star Gerard Pique.

In a statement on her official Twitter account Friday, Shakira said Sasha Pique Mebarak was born Thursday at 9.54 p.m. in Barcelona.

The note said the name Sasha was of Greek and Russian descent and means “defender of mankind” and “warrior.”

The statement said mother and baby were in excellent health.

The couple’s first child, Milan, a boy, was born in January 2013 in Barcelona.

Shakira and 27-year-old Pique have been a couple for the past four years.

Following his adorable feet first moment, Shakira’s newborn son Milan Piqué Mebarak is getting his close-up.

“Meet our baby boy Milan,” Shakira tweeted on Monday, along with a link to the digital charity baby shower she’s holding with UNICEF. The singer was named a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in 2003.

But don’t look for Shakira in the photo. Instead, baby Milan gets a kiss from his father, FC Barcelona star Gerard Piqué.

Milan was born on January 22, in Barcelona.

Shakira will be back in the public eye soon… She’ll be replacing Christina Aguilera on NBC’s The Voice as a coach this spring. The reality competition returns for its fourth season on March 25.

He’s not even a week old, but Milan Piqué Mebarak already has some pumped up kicks…

Shakira’s first child with soccer star Gerard Piqué, born on January 22, appears in an adorable photo posted by Piqué on his Twitter account.

Labeled “Milan’s feet,” the image shows the newborn wearing Nike sneakers with his name embroidered in the red and blue colors of Pique’s soccer club, FC Barcelona.

Amador Bernabeu, Pique’s grandfather, registered Milan as Barcelona member No. 171,761 on Wednesday, just hours after the new The Voice coach gave birth at a hospital in Barcelona.

The club’s current vice president, Jordi Cardoner, came to the 35-year-old Colombian superstar’s room at Clinica Teknon in person to deliver a tiny Barcelona jersey for Milan.

Shakira last appeared in public on Jan.uar 14 at an event in Barcelona to introduce a book written by her father, William Mebarak.

The stork has arrived at Shakira’s place…

The 35-year-old Colombian singer and new The Voice coach gave birth to a bouncing baby boy,Milan Piqué Mebarak, at 9:36 p.m. January 22 in Barcelona, Spain, according to an announcement on Shakira’s website.

It’s the first child for Shakira and her boyfriend Spanish soccer star Gerard Piqué, who recently announced plans to host a virtual baby shower for charity.

“The name Milan means dear, loving and gracious in Slavic; in Ancient Roman, eager and laborious; and in Sanskrit, unification,” the announcement says. “Just like his father, baby Milan became a member of FC Barcelona at birth.”

Shakira and her boyfriend, a central defender for Futbol Club Barcelona, announced in September that she was pregnant and revealed the sex of the baby in October.

Shakira will be one of two new coaches on NBC’s The Voice when the show returns for its fourth season in March. She and Usher are replacing Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green. While pregnant, Shakira filmed some parts of the show, including the blind auditions.

During a press event for The Voice in late 2012, the Colombian singer told reporters that her maternal instincts had already starting kicking into high gear when it came to nurturing her contestants.

“I don’t know if because I’m pregnant or what, but I’ve got maternal instincts, and I feel like, you know, they are somehow my kids,” she told reporters. “I have to look after them and protect them.”
