Bad Bunny Earns Four American Music Award Nominations

Bad Bunny’s crossover into the American music scene continues…

This year’s American Music Awards nominations have been revealed, with the 26-year-old Puerto Rican Latin trap and reggaeton singer earning four nods.

Bad Bunny is nominated in the Favorite Male Artist – Latin category for the second year in a row. In addition he earned two nods in the Favorite Album – Latin category for his chart-topping albums YHLQMDLG and Las que no iban a salir.

His fourth nod comes in the Favorite Song – Latin category for his hot single “Vete.”

Nipping on Bad Bunny’s heels… his Oasis album collaborator J Balvin, with two nods.

The 35-year-old Colombian singer is nominated in the Favorite Male Artist – Latin category, as well as Favorite Song – Latin for his smash Black Eyes Peas collaboration “RITMO (Bad Boys For Life).”

Cardi B is the Latina artist with the most nods.

The 28-year-old half-Dominican American rap superstar is nominated in three categories.

Cardi B is up for Favorite Female Artist – Rap/Hip-Hop, as well as Collaboration Of The Year and Favorite Song – Rap/Hip-Hop for her chart-topping hit single WAP,” featuring Megan Thee Stallion.

Karol G has picked up her first-ever American Music Award nods…

The 29-year-old Colombian singer is nominated for Favorite Female Artist – Latin and Favorite Song – Latin For her No. 1 collaboration with Nicki Minaj, “Tusa.”

Jhene Aiko picked up a Favorite Female Artist – Soul/R&B nod, while Anuel AA earned a nod for Favorite Album – Latin for his acclaimed album Emmanuel.

Other nominees include Ozuna (Favorite Males Artist – Male), and Becky G and Rosalia in the Favorite Female Artist – Latin category.

The ceremony is set to take place live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on November 22 at 8:00 pm EST/PST on ABC.

This year, the AMAs added new categories to their slate including Favorite Male Artist and Favorite Female Artist (Rap/Hip-Hop); and Favorite Male Artist, Favorite Female, Favorite Album and Favorite Song (Latin).

The AMAs are the worlds largest fan-voted award show and is seen in over 200 countries and territories around the world. Voting is now open for all AMA categories.

Danny Garcia’s Fight Against Errol Spence Jr. Moved to December at the Dallas Cowboys’ Stadium

Danny Garcia is heading into enemy territory…

The bout between the 32-year-old Puerto Rican boxer, a and former two-division titleholder, and unified welterweight titlist Errol Spence Jr. will now take place on December 5 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas – the home of the Dallas Cowboys.

This event, which had been scheduled for Nov. 21 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, will have fans in attendance. At the time, holds were put on other venues around the country in hopes that the fight could be moved somewhere with a live audience.

“Every time Spence fights in front of his hometown fans, it is an unforgettable and energetic evening,” said Tom Brown, president of TGB Promotions, who is staging the card. “We’re excited to be able to bring those fans this great matchup.”

In March 2019, Spence — a native of DeSoto, Texas — defeated Mikey Garcia in the same venue in front of more than 47,000 fans.

Spence, who suffered a serious one-car crash a year ago, said fighting in front of his hometown fans adds some extra motivation.

“It means even more because I’m going up against a great champion in Danny Garcia,” Spence said. “I know people are looking out to see if I’ve lost a step or won’t be at my best, but I’m 100% focused and everything is on point in training camp. I just can’t wait to go out there … and put on a show.”

Garcia was the unified and lineal junior lightweight champion before moving up to welterweight, where he won the WBC title against Robert Guerrero in 2016. In his most recent fight, Garcia defeated Ivan Redkach by decision in January.

“This matchup is a megafight unification bout,” Garcia said. “It’s my opportunity to reclaim my spot at the top in this division and become a five-time world champion. Training and sparring has been going really well. I’m extremely prepared for this already, and it can’t get here soon enough.”

The pay-per-view card includes Sebastian Fundora vs. Jorge Cota in a junior middleweight bout, a welterweight battle between Josesito Lopez and Francisco Santana, and Julio Ceja vs. Eduardo Ramirez in a featherweight bout.

This event will have tickets sold in seating “pods” to maintain social distancing and follow other coronavirus guidelines. All in attendance must wear masks, according to the promoters.

Yordenis Ugas Outpoints Abel Ramos to Win WBA Welterweight Title

Yordenis Ugas is a champion…

The 34-year-old Cuban boxer captured a version of the WBA welterweight title by outlasting Abel Ramos over 12 clinical rounds at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday night.

While it seemed like Ugas (26-4, 12 KOs) dominated most of the fight behind his long left jab, the fight was actually a split decision.

Zachary Young and Edward Hernandez had him up by the score of 115-113, while Lou Moret had Ramos on top, 117-111.

Regardless, this was a strong showing from Ugas, who boxed well from the outside in the early rounds. Then in the fourth, he began to plant his feet and started to control the center of the ring, almost daring Ramos to come toward him. But throughout the night, the rapier-like jab of Ugas kept him from ever really committing to a sustained offensive attack.

Ugas isn’t generally known as an aggressive fighter, but on this night, he was in command and for the most part initiating the action. Along with his steady jab, Ugas would throw long right hands and the occasional left hook to the body, consistently out-working Ramos (26-4-2, 20 KOs) round after round.

In his last outing back on February 15, Ramos made a miraculous comeback in scoring a last-second knockout of Bryant Perella while he was down big on the cards. On Sunday night, he was able to clip Ugas in the late stages of the 12th, staggering him for a quick spell. But it was far too little, far too late.

Ugas out-landed Ramos 233 to 109 in terms of total punches, 160 of them being the jab, which set the table for him all night.

Despite what the scorecards showed, this was a dominant outing for Ugas, who last year was on the wrong side of a disputed decision versus Shawn Porter for the WBC welterweight title.

Ugas, who is rated seventh in the ESPN rankings at welterweight, has won 11 out of 12 bouts since dropping back-to-back bouts in 2014.

Danny Garcia Has Reportedly Agreed to Fight Errol Spence Jr. This Fall

Danny Garcia has lined up his next opponent…

The 32-year-old Puerto Rican professional boxer, the former junior welterweight and welterweight titlist, has agreed to fight unified welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. in a fall pay-per-view event, according to ESPN.

The bout — which needs a negotiation of final contract numbers — is expected to take place in November at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, according to sources.

But, Premier Boxing Champions, which promotes both fighters, has put holds on other venues around the country as it monitors the coronavirus pandemic and the guidelines in place for each state.

The Athletic first reported the agreement.

Garcia (36-2, 21 KOs) was a unified champion at junior welterweight and a world titlist at welterweight. In his most recent fight in January, Garcia outpointed Ivan Redkach over 12 rounds.

Spence defeated Shawn Porter by 12-round split decision on September 28 in a tough fight at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Spence, who came into the bout as the IBF titlist, earned the WBC belt with the win. He was involved in a horrific one-car accident a few weeks later near Dallas, Texas, and suffered serious injuries, including facial lacerations and a broken jaw.

Before the accident, there was talk of Spence facing Garcia in late January 2020.

Spence is ranked No. 1 at welterweight in ESPN‘s divisional rankings, and Garcia is No. 6. Manny Pacquiao (WBA) and Terence Crawford (WBO) are the other titleholders in the division.

Lauren Jauregui to Co-Host American Music Awards Red Carpet Show

Lauren Jaureguiwill be hitting the red carpet in a big way at the American Music Awards…

The 23-year-old Cuban American singer and former Fifth Harmony member will co-host the 2019 AMAs Red Carpet Live.

Jauregui will host the official pre-show for this year’s AMAs alongside Sofia Carson, Nick Viall, AJ Gibson, Raja Kumari and Jaymes Vaughan.

It’s the first hosting gig for Jauregui.

The pre-show will stream live for two hours before the awards show exclusively on Twitter so fans can watch and engage in real-time conversation.

The red carpet pre-show will include interviews with nominees, performers and presenters, beginning at 6:00 pm ET and ending at 8:00 pm ET when the AMAs is set to officially start. The 2019 AMAs will broadcast live from the Microsoft Theaterin Los Angeles on Sunday, November 24 at 8:00 pm ET on ABC.

MJ Rodriguez Brightens Up the Emmys Red Carpet

Forget pretty in pink… MJ Rodriguez is fabulous in fuschia…

The 28-year-old half-Puerto Rican actress rocked the Emmys red carpet in a hot pink Jason Wu gown that she collaborated with the designer to create.

“I wanted to stand out. I wanted to be sharp. I wanted to have angular lines, hence the deep V. And I wanted a color. I wanted it to pop. I wanted people to see me. And I wanted to feel like this is the first moment that I’ve ever had been taken seriously,” Rodriguez said during the E! red carpet special. “That’s what this dress does for me.”

Rodriguez, who was nominated along with the rest of the Pose cast for Outstanding Drama Series, said that nailing the magnetic color was a priority for her stunning look.

“The color stood out to me,” she said. “When I first saw it, I was like, ‘Oh my god this is a very prominent color.’ Not only does it look great, but I know it looks good on my skin complexion because I’m a wonderful girl of color. And, that’s what my eye drew to.”

Rodriguez said she also loves the fashion on Pose, which is all about the underground drag ballroom culture in New York City in the ’80s and ’90s. When E! host Zanna Roberts Rassi asked if costume designer Lou Eyrich actually spends around $30 on each outfit to maintain authenticity, Rodriguez said she wasn’t sure, but she did know they are “spectacular.”

“I do know some are actually pretty cheap,” Rodriguez said. “But I do know that every piece of clothing on that show is spectacular.”

She’s also tried to grab a few to keep — with no success.

“I try my best to borrow something,” Rodriguez said.

The 71st Primetime Emmy Awards aired live from the Microsoft Theaterin Los Angeles on Sunday, September 22.

Bruno Mars Earns Five BET Award Nominations

Bruno Mars is serious BET Awards bait…

The 31-year-old part-Puerto Rican singer has picked up five nods for the 2017 BET Awards.

Among his nods, Mars is nominated in the Best Male R&B/Pop Artist category, as well as Album of the Year for his critically acclaimed LP 24K Magic and Video of the Year for album’s title track.

Kehlani has picked up a nod. The 22-year-old part-Spanish American singer is nominated in the Best Female R&B/Pop Artist category.

And, Fat Joe is up for Best Group alongside Remy Ma.

The BET Awards will air live on June 25 from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles at 8 p.m. ET. The awards ceremony will cap off the annual BET Experience at L.A. Live in Los Angeles from June 22-25.

The BET Awards will also recognize achievements in film, television, sports and international music acts across more than 19 categories.

Gomez Receives Five Radio Disney Music Award Nominations

Selena Gomez hasn’t lost her Disney popularity…

The 24-year-old Mexican American singer/actress, who starred on the Disney Channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place from 2007 – 2012, has earned five nominations for this year’s Radio Disney Music Awards.

Gomez, a six–time RDMA winner, is nominated in the best female artist, fiercest fans and best tour categories. She’s also up for best breakup song and best collaboration for “We Don’t Talk Anymore” with Charlie Puth.

Bruno Mars, meantime, has earned two RDMA nominations. The 31-year-old part-Puerto Rican singer is nominated for best male artist and best song that makes you smile for his hit single “24K Magic.”

Other Hispanic nominees include Fifth Harmony for best group and fiercest fans, Demi Lovato for best tour,a nd Camila Cabello for best collaboration for her single with Machine Gun Kelly, “Bad Things.”

Stuck in the Middle star Jenna Ortega is one of five hosts for this year’s awards show, alongside Hamilton star Jordan Fisher, Descendants actress Sofia Carson, Radio Disney host and singer Alex Aiono and country singer Kelsea Ballerini.

The RDMAs will take place on Saturday, April 29, at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, and the show will air the following day, April 30, at 7:00 pm ET on the Disney Channel. Voting is now open at Disney.com/RDMA.

Ferrera to Serve as a Presenter at This Year’s Primetime Emmy Awards

America Ferrera has a date with Emmy…

The Television Academy has announced the second group of presenters for the 68th Emmy Awards, with the 32-year-old Honduran American actress making the list.

In addition to Ferrera, who won the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series in 2007 for her starring role in Ugly Betty, the list includes Laverne Cox, Tracee Ellis Ross, Kit Harington, Matt LeBlanc, Joel McHale, Chris Rock, Jeffrey Tambor, Kerry Washington and Damon Wayans.

The 68th Emmy Awards, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, will air at 8:00 pm ET/5:00 pm PT on Sunday, September 18 from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

Ferrera currently stars on NBC’s comedy series Superstore.

Nuñez to Serve as a Presenter at the Television Academy’s Creative Arts Emmys

The Television Academy has announced the second wave of presenters for the Creative Arts Emmys on September 10 and 11, with the 57-year-old Cuban actor and comedian making the list.

The former The Office star is set to present on Sunday, along with Michelle Ang, Rob Corddry, Seth Green, Tim Gunn, Robert Herjavec, Julianne Hough, Carly Rae Jepsen, Katharine McPhee and Gloria Steinem.

Saturday nightspresenters include Linda Ellerbee, Chris Hardwick, Ken Jeong, Margo Martindale, Laurie Metcalf and Martin Mull.

For the first time, the Creative Emmy Awards will be held over two consecutive nights at the Microsoft Theater.

FXX will air the 2016 Creative Arts Emmy Awards on September 17.
