Alves: The Best-Dressed Latina on the Oscars Red Carpet

Her husband may have taken home the Academy Award for Best Actor… But Camila Alves claimed the title of Best-Dressed Latina on the Oscars red carpet.

The 32-year-old Brazilian model, fashion designer and Mrs. Matthew McConaughey, was pretty in pastel in a look that channeled old-school Hollywood.

Alves donned a custom pale pink silk crepe Gabriela Cadena gown that featured a gorgeous train and a cape.

She completed the look with a matching clutch, sparkling earrings and a fresh face.

But Alves wasn’t the only Latina starlet looking pretty in pink…

Penelope Cruz wore a silk mousseline Giambattista Valli Haute Couture gown to this year’s Academy Awards.

The Oscar-winner’s dress featured a black ribbon belt, making Cruz look modern and effortless.

He’s serious Oscar buzz for his portrayal of a male-to-female transgender character addicted to drugs and dying of AIDS in Jean-Marc Vallee‘s Dallas Buyers Club…

Now Jared Leto is offering special insight into his critically-hailed role in “Making Rayon Real,” a featurette about the character.

In the video, courtesy of the film’s distributor Focus Features, the 42-year-old part-Spanish actor/singer – a best supporting actor hopeful – discusses what drew him to playing the character, what she taught him about himself, how he came to admire her and what he went through to bring her to life.

Among other things, Leto shed 40 pounds, waxed his body, altered his voice pitch and spoke with a dialect.

The video also features Leto’s costars Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner describing their experience working on the film with the actor — whom, they say, they only ever met as Rayon, and who remained in-character throughout the indie’s shoot.

Leto has already nabbed best supporting actor Independent Spirit, Critics’ Choice, Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild award nominations for the role and he won the New York and Los Angeles film critics’ corresponding prize.

Oscar Isaacs’ awards season is off to a great start…

The 33-year-old Guatemalan and Cuban actor has earned a Spirit Award nomination for his critically acclaimed role in Inside Llewyn Davis, which was nominated for Best Feature.

Isaacs is up for Best Male Lead against Nebraska’s Bruce Dern, 12 Years a Slave’s Chiwetel Ejiofor, Fruitvale Station’s Michael B Jordan, Dallas Buyers Club’s Matthew McConaughey and All is Lost’s Robert Redford.

Melonie Diaz has earned a nod for Best Supporting Female for her role in Fruitvale Station.

Film Independent’s 29th Spirit Awards will be held on March 1 in Santa Monica with Patton Oswalt hosting.

Maná Confirmed to Receive Hollywood Walk of Fame Star in 2014

They’re stars in their native Mexico and Latin America… And, now Maná will now get the ultimate star in Hollywood.

As previously reported, the Mexican rock band has been confirmed as a recipient of a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next year.

The band, which was formed in 1986, has sold an estimated 35 million albums worldwide. They initially received international commercial success in Australia and Spain and have since gained popularity and exposure in the US, Western Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

Maná joins Katy Perry, rapper Tupac Shakur and comedian Phil Hartman as honored on the Walk of Fame, which recognizes professionals in film, television, radio and recording industries.

For motion pictures, Orlando Bloom, Ray Dolby, Sally Field, Jessica Lange, Matthew McConaughey, Liam Neeson and Tom Sherak will be recognized.

In television, Dabney Coleman, Kaley Cuoco, Claire Danes, Giancarlo Esposito, Deidre Hall, Cheryl Hines, Don Mischer and Tavis Smiley will be the recipients.

Motown songwriters and producers Holland-Dozier-Holland, Jeff Lynne, Mexican band Mana, Ray Parker Jr., Katy Perry, Rick Springfield.

“We have a great mix of celebrities and industry executives who have made Hollywood what it is today — one of the greatest entertainment destinations in the world,” said David Green, chairman of the Walk of Fame selection committee. “The new selections will bring great joy and fond memories for those millions who visit Hollywood each year!”

Dates for the Walk of Fame ceremonies have not been scheduled. Honorees have up to five years to schedule their ceremonies from date of selection, otherwise they will expire.

Alves Gives Birth to Third Child with Matthew McConaughey

The stork has made another visit to Camila Alves and Matthew McConaughey.

The 30-year-old Brazilian model and television host gave birth to son, Livingston Alves McConaughey, at 7:43 a.m on December 28, 2012.

McConaughey took to his Facebook page to announce the arrival of the couple’s bundle of joy.

“Camila Alves gave birth to our third child yesterday morning,” wrote McConaughey. “He greeted the world at 9 lbs. and 21 inches. Bless up and thank you for your well wishes.”

The  newest addition joins the pair’s other children Levi, 4 and Vida, 3.

Alves told US Weekly back in September that her two eldest children couldn’t wait for the new family member to arrive.

“I think they fully understand that it’s a little baby coming,” said Alves. “They love it.”

Prior to the couple’s nuptials in June, McConaughey told GQ earlier this year that Alves is the woman he wants to “make a family with” and live his “life out together.”

“I always wanted to be a father,” McConaughey told People in 2008. “It just took the right woman and the right time to make it happen.”

Bardem Receives Critics Choice Movie Award Nomination

It’s turning out to be a rewarding awards season for Javier Bardem…

The 43-year-old Spanish actor and Oscar-winner has been nominated for a 2013 Critics Choice Movie Award for Best Supporting Actor from the Broadcast Film Critics Association for his villainous role in the latest Bond film, Skyfall.

Bardem is competing against Argo’s Alan Arkin, Silver Linings Playbook’s Robert De Niro, The Master’s Philip Seymour Hoffman, Lincoln’s Tommy Lee Jones and Magic Mike’s Matthew McConaughey.

Last week Bardem received a Satellite Award nomination from the International Press Academy for his Skyfall performance.

Meanwhile, the Broadcast Film Critics Association nominated Chilean cinematographer Claudio Miranda for Best Cinematography for his work on Ang Lee’s Life of Pi, as well as Spanish costume designer Paco Delgado for Best Costume Design for his work on Les Misérables.

Winners will be announced on January 10, 2013, at a ceremony to be broadcast live on the CW network.

Peña Earns a Spirit Award Nomination

Michael Peña has the spirit…

The 36-year-old Mexican American actor has received a Spirit Award nomination in the Best Supporting Male category for his work in the police drama End of Watch.

Peña, who portrays Los Angeles police officer Mike Zavala in the film, will face off against Magic Mike’s Matthew McConaughey, Middle of Nowhere’s David Oyelowo, Seven Psychopaths’ Sam Rockwell and Moonrise Kingdom’s Bruce Willis.

Meanwhile, Aurora Guerrero has been nominated for the John Cassavetes Award, which is given to a picture made for under $500,000. The Mexican American filmmaker earned the nod for writing and directing the film Mosquita y Mari.

Nominees for the Spirit Awards are determined by its “independence” based on guidelines that include uniqueness of vision, original and provocative subject matter and they must be made for budgets up to $20 millions.

Winners of the 2013 Spirit Awards will be announced on February 23, during the annual awards luncheon taking place in a tent on the beach in Santa Monica.

The ceremony will be broadcast at 10:00 pm ET on IFC.

The 30-year-old Brazilian model, television host and fashion designer—who has signed on the serve as a spokesperson for the I.N.C. International Concepts line by Macy’s—is expecting her third child with husband Matthew McConaughey.

Only two weeks after their wedding, the Magic Mike star shared the big news on Twitter on Independence Day.

“happy birthday America, more good news, Camila and I are expecting our 3rd child, God bless, just keep livin,” McConaughey tweeted.

The couple, who have been together since 2006, already have a son, Levi, who turns 4 on Saturday, and a daughter, Vida, 2.

Alves Partnering with Macy’s & I.N.C. International Concepts

It’s back to work for newlywed Camila Alves…

The 30-year-old Brazilian model, television host and fashion designer—who married Magic Mike star Matthew McConaughey last month—is the new face of Macy’s’ I.N.C. International Concepts line.

Alves apparently won over the department store after a house visit.

“When Macy’s approached me about this, I told them we need more than a meeting in New York,” she explained to Women’s Wear Daily. “I had the team to my home in Austin, cooked some food and had some wine. They’ve got to really like me — it’s a big partnership.”

Alves will appear in television and print ads for I.N.C. International Concepts and Macy’s starting in September.

In 2010, she hosted the Bravo network’s third season of its reality television show Shear Genius.

Adam Rodriguez’s latest film Magic Mike may not open in theaters for 16 days… But it’s already getting massive buzz, mainly due to the film’s latest just-released trailer.

The restricted trailer for Steven Soderbergh’s highly anticipated male stripper movie—loosely inspired by Channing Tatum’s own life as a stripper—may be shorter than the trailer released in the United Kingdom about a week ago, but it’s definitely more fleshed out… And, by fleshed out, we mean that you’ll see plenty of Tatum’s and the 36-year-old Puerto Rican/Cuban American CSI: Miami star’s skin, as well as that of his co-stars Alex Pettyfer, Matthew McConaughey and Matt Bomer.

“The audience will most definitely get to see PLENTY,” Rodriguez previously told Celebuzz! “How much of plenty will be up to Steven in the editing room and the audience keeping their eyes open in the movie theater.”

Magic Mike opens in theaters nationwide on June 29.
