Juliana Aidén Martinez Joins Cast of NBC‘s “Law & Order: SVU”

Juliana Aidén Martinez is ready to take a bite out of crime…

The Colombian American actress has joined the cast of NBC‘s Law & Order: SVU  as a new detective.

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit follows detectives from the Special Victims Unit as they investigate and prosecute sexually based crimes. Some episodes are loosely based on real crimes that have been ripped from the headlines.

The fight for justice never ends as Captain Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and her squad provide a tireless voice for the voiceless. Benson’s compassion for victims and pledge to protect the innocent stand as a beacon of hope for all.

Law & Order: SVU also stars Ice T, Peter Scanavino and Octacio Pisano, among others.

Dick Wolf is creator and executive producer of Law & Order: SVU.

The series is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group and Wolf Entertainment.

Martinez is best known for her breakout role in Netflix’s Emmy-nominated Griselda, opposite Sofia Vergara.

She previously starred in the independent 2022 thriller Boundary, directed by Anthony Faust.

Her other credits include 9-1-1, The Blacklist and Prodigal Son.

During her time at the Yale Drama School, Martinez was selected for Lena Waithe’s Hillman Grad Mentorship Lab.

Ariana DeBose to Serve as Presenter at Upcoming Primetime Emmy Awards

The Television Academy has announced its first batch of presenters for Monday’s 74th annual Primetime Emmy Awards, with the 31-year-old half-Puerto Rican Oscar-winning actress, singer and Broadway star making the list.

Ariana DeBose,In addition to the West Side Story star, others set to appear on the awards show include Will Arnett, Angela Bassett, Vanessa Bayer, Kelly Clarkson, Taye Diggs, Hannah Einbinder, Selena Gomez, Mariska HargitaySquid Game’s Jung Ho-yeon & Lee Jung-jae, Jimmy Kimmel, Diego Luna, Christopher Meloni, Seth Meyers, Amy Poehler, Molly Shannon, Jean Smart, Kerry Washington and Natalie Zea.

More presenters will be announced closer to TV’s Biggest Night, which will be hosted by SNL stalwart Kenan Thompson from the Microsoft Theater in downtown Los Angeles.

The ceremony will air live on NBC starting at 5:00 pm PT/8:00 pm ET.

The Primetime Emmys follow this past weekend’s two-night presentation of the Creative Arts Emmys.

Octavio Pisano Promoted to Series Regular on NBC’s “Law & Order: SVU”

The 35-year-old Latino actor and producer, who portrays Detective Joe Velasco on NBC’s Law & Order: SVU, has been promoted to series regular.

Pisano’s Joe Velasco is a former undercover and detective under Chief McGrath (Terry Serpico) who’s been assigned to the SVU. Pisano has appeared in 3 episodes so far, beginning with the season 23 premiere.

Season 23 picked up mere hours after last season’s finale, where Catalina Machado (Zabryna Guevara) was arrested for trafficking single mothers living in shelters in a complex housing-for-sex scheme. She now wants to flip on her superiors in exchange for a deal with the feds, and names a powerful congressman as the big fish. It’s a make-or-break case for the NYPD and puts enormous pressure on the entire SVU squad to get a conviction.

Starring Mariska HargitayLaw & Order: SVU chronicles the lives of the Special Victims Unit of the New York City Police Department, an elite squad of detectives who investigate crimes of sexual assault, child abuse and domestic violence.

Ice T, Peter Scanavino and Kelli Giddish also star.

Law & Order: SVU is TV’s longest-running primetime live-action series. It received a three-year renewal in 2020, taking it through Season 24.

Pisano starred alongside Michael Chiklis in the CBS All Access limited series Coyote. He was cast in the pilot for the New York Undercover reboot created by Dick Wolf and in Tyler Perry’s If Loving You Is Wrong. Pisano’s film credits include Ms Purple directed by Justin ChonBadsville, Powder & Gold and Smartass.

Miranda Takes Final “Hamilton” Bow

The 36-year-old Puerto Rican actor, composer, rapper and writer took his final bows last night with the original cast of Hamilton, along with fellow departing stars Leslie Odom Jr. and Phillipa Soo in an emotional night at the Richard Rodgers Theatre.

After a few minutes, with no words spoken, the cast left the stage to the theme from The West Wing television series.

Javier Muñoz, Miranda’s alternate since the beginning of the journey Hamilton has taken from workshop to off-Broadway to its recent 11 Tony Award wins including Best Musical, takes over the title role beginning on Monday.

Among those in attendance for Miranda’s final performance, in which tickets ran upwards of $12,000 a seat, were Aaron Paul, Rosie O’Donnell, Secretary of State John Kerry, Mariska Hargitay, Edward Norton and Jennifer Lopez, who recorded a charity single with Miranda to benefit the victims of the Orlando Shooting.

Good to Guest Star on NBC’s “Law & Order: SVU”

The 33-year-old part-Puerto Rican actress has signed on to guest star on Law & Order: SVU.

Good and The Walking Dead actor Chad Coleman will appear on NBC‘s long-running police procedural in the November 19 episode, “Spousal Privilege,” playing a couple in an abusive relationship.

Coleman will play a former sports-star-turned-reporter accused of assaulting his girlfriend (Good). Despite photographic evidence of the abuse, the case becomes complicated when the couple tries to keep the charges under the radar.

“Domestic violence, with a push from [star] Mariska Hargitay‘s No More campaign, has recently sparked a long-needed national dialogue,” said executive producer Warren Leight. ” ‘Spousal Privilege’ explores the personal and legal complexities of this intractable problem. We are thrilled that Chad and Meagan are joining us to take on this challenging episode.”

It’s a return to NBC for Good, who starred in the short-lived series Deception.
