Maria Becerra to Make Grammy Awards Performance Debut

Maria Becerra is ready for music’s biggest night…

The 22-year-old Argentine singer and former YouTuber has been added to the lineup of performers for the 64th annual Grammy Award, taking place this Sunday, April 3. It will be Becerra’s first time performing on the awards show.

Other recent additions to the performer roster include Silk Sonic, John Legend and Carrie Underwood .

In addition, Maverick City Music, Aymée Nuviola and Billy Strings will perform in special segments that will showcase Las Vegas, which is hosting the Grammys for the first time, and spotlight genres not historically represented on the Grammy telecast, per a statement that accompanied this third and presumably last slate of Grammy performers announced on Wednesday.

Previously announced Grammys performers are Jon Batiste, Brothers Osborne, BTS, Brandi Carlile, Billie Eilish, H.E.R., Lil Nas X with Jack Harlow, Nas, Olivia Rodrigo and Chris Stapleton.

The ceremony will also include a previously announced In Memoriam salute to legendary Broadway composer Stephen Sondheim performed by Cynthia Erivo, Leslie Odom Jr., Ben Platt and Rachel Zegler.

Foo Fighters, who were previously announced as performers on the show, were not listed in the latest release.

The band is mourning the loss of its drummer, Taylor Hawkins, who died suddenly at age 50 on Friday, March 25.

On Tuesday, March 29, the band canceled all tour dates. The band has been closely associated with the Grammys over the years. The band has won best rock album four times — twice as often as anyone else — and is nominated again this year. Will the band show up at the Grammys as a way of honoring their drummer or is it too simply soon and too painful?

Most of the major 2022 Grammy nominees are set to perform on the show, but a handful of artists who rated high in the nominations aren’t performing (or at least haven’t been announced yet). They include Doja Cat and Justin Bieber, who each received eight nominations, as well as Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett, who are nominated for both album and record of the year; Abba, which is up for record of the year; Taylor Swift and Kanye West, who are both vying for album of the year; and Ed Sheeran, who is up for song of the year.

The Academy has invited Bennett and Gaga, who received five Grammy nominations for their second collaborative album, Love for Sale, to the show. A performance may hinge on how Bennett, who is 95 and living with Alzheimer’s disease, is feeling that day. Gaga may perform individually if Bennett is not up to joining her, but such a move, even if planned, has not been announced.

Silk Sonic are nominated for four awards, including record and song of the year, for “Leave the Door Open.

J Balvin is nominated in the new best música urbana album category for Jose.

Nuviola is nominated for best tropical Latin album for Sin Salsa No Hay Paraíso.

Trevor Noah is set to host the 64th annual Grammy Awards, which will air live from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, April 3 at 8:00 pm ET/5 p.m. PT on CBS. The show will be available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+.

The Latin boy band is among the latest acts appearing on the performance roster for this year’s Latin American Music Awards, which will take place at Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas

They join previous performers Black Eyed Peas, Boza, Calibre 50, Chiquis, Christian Nodal, Esteman, Gerardo Ortiz, Gloria Trevi, Jesse & Joy, Jhay Cortez, Lit Killah, Los Ángeles Azules, Lupita D’Alessio, María Becerra, Nicki Nicole, Ozuna, Sofía Reyes, and Tiago PZK.

The three-hour event will “pay tribute to today’s most influential and iconic Latin artists” in 26 categories, including favorite video and favorite social artist, selected by a committee of industry professionals who consider the quality, content, creativity, and fan engagement.

The 2022 Latin AMAs nominations are led by Bad Bunny with 10 nominations. He’s followed by the eight-time nominee Jhay Cortez, and Karol G, J Balvin, and Rauw Alejandro with seven nods each.

This year’s nominees, which are determined by fan voting via LatinAmas.com, are based on key fan interactions with music, including streaming, sales, airplay, and social activity tracked by Billboard through its data partners Luminate — formerly MRC Data — and Next Big Sound for data covering the periods of Feb. 6, 2021, through Jan. 29, 2022.

The 2022 Latin AMAs will take place on Thursday, April 21, live from the Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. The seventh annual ceremony will be broadcast on Telemundo starting at 7 p.m. ET with the red-carpet pre-show followed at 8 p.m. ET by the awards show.

Prince Royce to Launch 11-Date “Classic Tour” Across U.S.

Prince Royce is embracing his classics…

The 32-year-old Dominica American bachata star has announced an upcoming 11-date “greatest hits” trek that he’s called the Classic Tour.

Prince RoyceAs part of the trek, Royce will not only serenade fans with the songs that catapulted his career, but he’ll also celebrate his decade-long trajectory.

“I am thrilled to be able to share the Classic Tour with all of my fans who have been there for me unconditionally since the very beginning of my career,” said Price Royce in a statement. “I am still here thanks to you all and this tour is for you. I’m filled with gratefulness.”

Produced by Loud and Live, the 11-date tour will kick off September 16 in Miami and take Royce across the U.S., visiting major markets like Chicago, New York and Los Angeles before wrapping up in Santa Barbara, Calif., in October. This will his first tour since the pandemic shutdown, which halted his Alter Ego Tour in March 2020.

Most recently, Royce and Maria Becerra scored a top 10 on Billboard’s Tropical Airplay chart with their collaboration “Te Espero.”

For the Argentine artist, the track marked her first top 10 on the tally. Meanwhile, for Royce, it added a 30th top 10 his Tropical Airplay chart account.

The romantic bachata samples British rock band Cutting Crew’s “(I Just) Died in Your Arms” — a No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 hit in 1987 — and was produced by D’lesly “Dice” Lora and Royce, and written by Royce alongside Becerra, Nelsen and Bobby Sierra.

Jesse & Joy to Perform at This Year’s Latin American Music Awards

The Latin American Music Awards have announced the first round of performers for its 2022 edition, with the Mexican sibling duo – comprised of brother Jesse Huerta and sister Joy Huerta – set to take the stage.

Jesse & JoyJesse & Joy are among a roster of performers that includes The Black Eyed Peas, Boza, Calibre 50, Chiquis, Esteman, Gerardo Ortiz and Gloria Trevi.

The Latin AMAs will be broadcast on Telemundo from Las Vegas starting at 7:00 p.m. ET with the red-carpet pre-show.

Other acts confirmed to grace the stage include Jhay Cortez, Lit Killah, Los Ángeles Azules, María Becerra, Nicki Nicole, Sofia Reyes, Ozuna and Tiago PZK.

The awards show kicks off at 8:00 p.m. ET live from the Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.

According to a press release, the forthcoming three-hour event will “pay tribute to today’s most influential and iconic Latin artists” in 26 categories, including favorite video and favorite social artist, selected by a committee of industry professionals who consider the quality, content, creativity and fan engagement.

As it was previously announced, Mexican songstress Lupita D’Alessio will be honored with the Legend Award and Regional Mexican chart-topping artist Christian Nodal will receive the Extraordinary Evolution Award. Nodal is also a five-time nominee at this year’s Latin AMAs.

The 10-time-nominated Bad Bunny leads the list of nominees. The Puerto Rican hitmaker is followed by Jhay Cortez with eight nominations, and Karol G, J Balvin and Rauw Alejandro with seven nods each.

It’s a Perfect 10 for Bad Bunny…

The nominees for the 2022 Latin American Music Awards have been revealed, with the 27-year-old Puerto Rican rapper, singer and songwriter leading the pack with 10 nods.

Bad BunnyAmong his nominations, Bad Bunny is nominated in three of the four top categories.

He’s up for Artist of the Year, Song of the Year for “Dákiti,” and Album of the Year for El Último Tour del Mundo.

Jhay Cortez, who appears on Bad Bunny’s “Dákiti,” follows with eight nominations.

The 28-year-old Puerto Rican singer and rapper is up for Artist of the Year and Favorite Artist – Male, among others.

Karol G is the top-nominated female, tied with J Balvin and Rauw Alejandro with seven nods each…

The 31-year-old Colombian singer is the sole female nominated in the Artist of the Year category. She’s also up for Album of the Year for KG0516.

The 32-year-old Dominican American singer/songwriter has teamed up with Maria Becerra in their first-ever collaboration “Te Espero.”

The track, which smoothly interpolates Cutting Crew’s “(I Just) Died In Your Arms,” finds the pair grappling with the idea of letting go of each other and their relationship.

“I’ll wait for you in the same place as ever, where we fell in love,” Royce proposes. “You left me alone but now you need me … even if I’d want to go back, this wouldn’t make sense anymore” the Argentine singer responds.

“Te Espero” was produced by D’lesly “Dice” Lora and Royce.

The 26-year-old Mexican pop singer has released her highly-awaited sophomore album Mal De Amores, five years after her debut set Louder!

On her new set, Reyes not only experiments with new musical approaches but also flaunts her maturity over the years.

She’s unapologetic, and the opening track “MUJER” is proof of that — a saucy cumbia with elegant violins where she simply says “I don’t regret being a woman.”

It follows with the galactic reggaetón banger “Marte,” the set’s focus track, performed in collaboration with Maria Becerra — a friendly reminder that women should never tolerate toxicity.

Reyes also navigates musical styles in Mal de Amores ranging from norteño (“GALLINA”) to corridos (“Amigos” with Adriel Favela, Danny Felix) to her signature pop-urban.

The 17-track set includes previously-released collaborations such as “1, 2, 3” with Jason Derulo and De La Ghetto, “R.I.P.” with Rita Ora and Anitta, “A Tu Manera (Corbata)” with Jhay Cortez, “De Casualidad” with Pedro Capo, and the Becky G-assisted title track.

Tiago PZK Signs Recording Deal with Warner Music Latina, via Partnership with Grand Move Records

The 20-year-old soulful Argentine singer and rapper, who has already placed three songs on the Billboard Global Excl U.S. chart, has signed a recording deal with Warner Music Latina, via a partnership with indie Grand Move Records.

Tiago PZK, whose real name is Tiago Uriel Pacheco, uses the suffix PZK in honor of his freestyle crew in Argentina, but his music defies categorization, often shifting from R&B and pop to rap.

Moreover, instead of resorting to the sexually explicit lyrics that define so many reggaetón hits today, Tiago’s themes lean more toward love and loss and his own journey from the housing projects of Buenos Aires to nascent fame.

His breakout single “Sola,” for example, talks about his childhood and his mother’s abuse at the hands of his father.

Tiago PZK’s signing to Warner makes him the youngest in a string of urban-leaning acts defining a new Argentina music scene that includes acts like Nicki Nicole, Duki, Maria Becerra, Cazzu and Paulo Londra who are making waves internationally.

News of his deal coincides with this week’s release of the remix of “Entre Nosotros” with fellow Argentines Killah, Nicki Nicole and Maria Becerra.

The original track alongside Killah, which has garnered more than 212 million views on YouTube, was No 1 on Argentina’s Billboard charts entered the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart last year. The remix is this week’s highest entry on Spotify’s Top Songs Global chart at No. 44.

“For me, having signed with Warner was a very big step professionally; it is good to be able to enlarge the team and know that much bigger projects are coming with the support of a company full of good and hardworking people, willing to give it their all in order for us to take the world ahead. I am very happy and grateful,” said Tiago PZK.

Tiago began gaining notoriety around 2016 with his participation in local rap battles in Argentina and his self-released track, “Andamo en la Cima.” In 2019, he signed to indie SyP Recors in Argentina, eventually catching the eye of concert promoter Phil Rodriguez, the CEO of Move Concerts, one of Latin America’s biggest indie promoters. Rodriguez signed Tiago to management and to his new Grand Move Records label.

Moving to a major label was the next step for an act with increasing international traction. Alejandro Duque, president of Warner Music Latina, set his sights on Tiago since he was appointed to his post in mid 2021. Now, the new deal includes both future and past works.

“He is a young artist with a great ambition and a natural talent,” Duque said in a statement. “His lyrics resonate with a massive audience. At his young age and short musical career Tiago PZK, has managed to make his music known not only in Argentina but has placed several of his singles on the Billboard and Spotify Global 200 Charts. Our goal at Warner is to lead Tiago PZK to conquer the world and become a global superstar.”

“Our decision to close with Warner Latin was not taken lightly,” says Rodríguez, a veteran executive who has worked in some capacity with most Latin industry leaders. “The deal closer was the enthusiasm and commitment that Alejandro Duque and the Warner Latina team transmitted to us at every step on the negotiations. Tiago PZK is a unique and amazing artist that truly is “the real deal.”

Last year, Tiago signed a publishing deal with Sony Music Publishing Latin America.

Nicki Nicole & Maria Becerra Bring Girl Power to Tiago PZK & LIT Killah’s “Entre Nosotros” Remix

Nicki Nicole and Maria Becerra are bringing some girl power to Tiago PZK’s most recent single…

The 21-year-old Argentine rapper and singer and 21-year-old compatriot have joined voices with Tiago PZK (real name: Tiago Uriel Lezcano) and LIT Killah for the official remix of “Entre Nosotros.”

Released in the summer of 2021 via Mad Move Records/Warner Music Chile, the original track is a collaboration between Tiago and LIT, which has garnered more than 212 million views on YouTube and entered the Billboard Global 200 chart last year.

Now, the two artists have reeled in fellow Argentine stars Nicole and Becerra for a fiery remix.

Produced by Big One, the new version keeps its sultry R&B and rap fusion intact, but each artist shines in their own right with their powerhouse vocals.

“Entre Nosotros” is about a person who’s struggling to forget an ex-lover.

In the music video, helmed by director Ballve and producer Anestesia, all four artists appear to be battling their internal feelings and lying on stretchers inside a laboratory as a scientist experiments with each of their minds.
