Wearing one of his signature outfits — a custom white Versace double-breasted jacket paired with black Bottega Veneta shoes — the wax figure coincides with Maluma’s homecoming concert, Medallo en el Mapa, set to take place on April 30 at the Atanasio Girardot stadium.

“The work that the entire team at Madame Tussauds created is unreal,” the chart-topping artist said in a statement. “The figure is a true replica of me and I am honored to have them bring a piece of me to my fans before my concert. Throughout my career, I have worked hard to share with the world that Medellin, Colombia, is art, culture, music and much more. I am excited to continue representing my roots globally. I am grateful to both museums for collaborating and making it a historic moment where a wax figure is featured in Colombia, and South America for the first time.”

According to the museum, it took a team of 20 studio artists nearly six months to create the figure.

The wax likeness will be on display at Maluma’s show on Saturday (April 30), and it will also spend a few days in Medellín’s Modern Art Museum from April 26-29.

After spending a few days in Colombia, fans will be able to see “Maluma 2.0” at its permanent home in Madame Tussauds Orlando beginning early May.

Most recently, the “Hawái” singer made his debut as a director, helming his first music video, “Mojando Asientos.”

The video also marked the first project released under Maluma’s new production company, Royalty Films, which was created to “support new Latin creatives within the music, film and television and commercial fields.”

Selena to be Immortalized with Her Own Wax Figure at Madame Tussauds Hollywood

Selena Quintanilla fans, prepare to wax nostalgic…

After a formal online petition held by the La Reina de La Musica Tejana’s fans, representatives of Madame Tussauds announced that the late Tejano singer will be immortalized with her own wax figure.

Selena Quintanilla

Quintanilla’s wax-figure unveiling will be in commemoration of the 21st anniversary of her last studio album, Dreaming of You.

Madame Tussauds Hollywood’s sculptors and artists’ team of experts researched and captured Selena’s authentic likeness, iconic pose and expression, signature hairstyle, makeup and wardrobe, after traveling to the Selena Museum in Corpus Christi, Texas, for an initial meeting with the Quintanilla family.

“At Madame Tussauds, our figures represent icons who have made a significant impact on our culture,” Colin Thomas, general manager of Madame Tussauds Hollywood, said in a statement. “Her influence has transcended generations and her passionate fans continue to be inspired by her to this day. We recognize this, and in response, we are proud to join her fans in celebrating her legacy by immortalizing her,” he added.

Valued at approximately $350,000, the figure will be dressed in a re-created stage look from Selena’s concert held at the Memorial Coliseum in Corpus Christi, Texas, on Feb 7, 1993. The performance was recorded for the album Selena Live!, which won the Grammy for best Mexican/American album in 1994.

Meanwhile, Selena’s sister Suzette Quintanilla expressed her gratitude on behalf of her family. “This is yet another step in making sure that her legacy lives on and that her fans new and old can appreciate her as a person, an artist and one whom we can all identify with,” she said.

The official unveiling will take place at Madame Tussauds Hollywood on August 30.

Vergara to be Immortalized in Wax at Madame Tussauds

It’s true… Sofia Vergara has one heckuva (wax) figure…

The 40-year-old Colombian actress will be immortalized with lifelike wax figures at New York City’s Madame Tussauds wax museums in New York and Las Vegas beginning June 4.

Sofia Vergara

“We are very excited about Sofia Vergara’s arrival at Madame Tussauds. She has become one of the most recognized and popular talents in the world and we know her fans and our visitors will love her figures,” said museum representative Janine DiGioacchino in a statement.

The three-time SAG Award-winning Modern Family star was an “enthusiastic participant” in the figure creation process, which took four months.

The museum’s artists had to take thousands of photos and measurements of Vergara to get her image just right.

In New York, the wax figure of Vergara will show off her curvas with the same Marchesa dress that she wore last year to New York City’s Met Gala.

For her Las Vegas waxwork, Vergara gave the museum the form-fitting black dress accented with leopard-print sleeves originally worn to promote the third season of Modern Family.

Vergara joins the list of celebrities who in recent years have seen their immortalized in wax, including Penelope Cruz, Angelina Jolie and Lady Gaga.
