Cannavale In Talks to Star in the John Lennon-centric “Imagine”

Bobby Cannavale could very well be imagining his next role…

The 42-year-old half-Cuban-American actor is in talks to star in the John Lennon-centric story Imagine, the directorial debut of Dan Fogelman, the writer behind Cars and Crazy, Stupid, Love.

Imagine centers on an aging rocker (portrayed by Al Pacino) who discovers a letter written to him by the late John Lennon and decides to alter the course of his life.

Along with Cannavale, Annette Bening is in negotiations to board Imagine. Meanwhile, Pacino, who had been previously attached, is in the process of closing his deal to star in the movie.

Bening would play Pacino’s love interest, while Cannavale would play Pacino’s son, a very normal man compared to the rocker with whom he has an estranged relationship.

Fogelman plans to being filming Imagine in July.

Cannavale appeared in HBO’s Boardwalk Empire and Showtime’s Nurse Jackie. And, he appears in the film Lovelace. He’s also in talks to join Jon Favreau in the filmmaker’s indie, Chef.

 

Cannavele’s “Lovelace” to Premiere at the Sundance Film Festival

The 42-year-old half-Cuban American’s latest film Lovelace has just been added to the out-of-competition Premieres section of the 2013 Sundance Film Festival.

Starring Amanda Seyfried, the biopic shines a spotlight on the life of adult film star Linda Lovelace. Deep Throat, the first pornographic feature to be a mainstream success, was an international sensation in 1972 and made its star, Lovelace, a media darling. Years later the “poster girl for the sexual revolution” revealed a darker side to her story.

Cannavale plays film financier Butchie Peraino in the film, which also stars Peter Sarsgaard, Hank Azaria, Adam Brody, James Franco and Sharon Stone.

Meanwhile, Eduardo Noriega will also be seeing his latest film premiere at the Sundance Film Festival.

Sweetwater, starring the 39-year-old Spanish actor, has been added to the festival’s lineup.

Set in the late 1800s, the film centers on a fanatical religious leader, a renegade Sheriff and a former prostitute as they collide in a blood triangle on the rugged plains of the New Mexico Territory.

Along with Noriega, the film stars Ed Harris, January Jones, Jason Isaacs and Amy Madigan.

Cannavale to Star in Woody Allen’s Next Film

The 42-year-old half-Cuban American actor has been cast in Woody Allen’s upcoming ensemble comedy.

Details about Allen’s follow-up project to To Rome with Love, which stars Penelope Cruz, haven’t been released yet. But Cannavale will join Cate Blanchett, Bradley Cooper and Alec Baldwin in the film.

Cannavale was most recently cast in the latest season of HBO’s Emmy-winning drama series Boardwalk Empire. And the award-winning actor will star in the Broadway revival of The Big Knife, which opens next April.

Cannavale most recently completed the Jeffrey FriedmanRob Epstein-directed Lovelace, which stars Amanda Seyfried as adult film star Linda Lovelace.

Cannavale Headed to HBO’s Bowardwalk Empire

After guest-starring on Modern Family and Nurse Jackie, Bobby Cannavale is officially heading back to television. Only this time he’ll a regular on a Golden-Globe winning dramatic series.

The 41-year-old half-Cuban American actor has joined HBO’s Boardwalk Empire. He’ll star as Gyp Rosetti, who is described as “a charming but ruthless gangster who challenges Steve Buscemi’s character Nucky,” in the hit period drama.

Cannavale’s casting comes just months after Boardwalk Empire’s sophomore season saw the series kill off Michael Pitt‘s well-likd character Jimmy Darmody—a former confidant-turned-rival for Nucky.

The Emmy-winning actor’s hiring will now provide a high-profile counterpart to Buscemi.

Boardwalk Empire, which HBO renewed for a third season in October, recently won a second Screen Actors Guild Award for outstanding ensemble in a drama series.

Cannavale recently completed production on his upcoming 10-episode arc on Showtime‘s Nurse Jackie and he recently wrapped shooting on the film Lovelace with Amanda Seyfried.

In addition, he co-starred with Chris Rock on Broadway’s The Motherf—er With the Hat, snagging a Tony Award nomination for his work.

Cannavale’s Got the XXX-Factor…

Bobby Cannavale is about to steam up the silver screen.

The 41-year-old half-Cuban actor has signed on to appear opposite Amanda Seyfried in Lovelace, a biopic of adult film star Linda Lovelace.

Cannavale will play film financier Butchie Peraino, while Seyfried will play the lead role in film, which will begin shooting on location in Los Angeles this week.

Along with Cannavale and Seyfried, the film will star Hank Azaria, Chris NothRobert Patrick, Wes Bentley, Sharon Stone and Juno Temple.

The movie is being filmed with the cooperation of the Lovelace estate.
