Alfred Molina is about to do the Taliban Shuffle

The 61-year-old half-Spanish actor has signed on to appear in Paramount Pictures’ Untitled Tina FeyMargot RobbieMartin Freeman project.

Directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, the film is based on the autobiography The Taliban Shuffle: Strange Days in Afghanistan and Pakistan by Kim Barker. The book is being adapted by 30 Rock scribe Robert Carlock.

Production has already started in New Mexico.

Molina joins a cast that includes Billy Bob Thornton, Sheila Vand, Christopher Abbott, Nicholas Braun, Stephen Peacocke and Evan Jonigkeit.

Molina most recently appeared on the big screen in the drama Love is Strange.

Sony Pictures Classics has released the official trailer for the Ira Sachs-directed drama Love Is Strange, starring the 61-year-old half-Spanish actor and John Lithgow.

Molina and Lithgow portray longtime gay lovers who finally tie the knot. But their idyllic situation begins to unravel when one of them then gets fired and is unable to pay the rent. The couple must move in, separately, with a nephew and his family in Brooklyn and the two gay cops next door.

In addition to Molina and Lithgow, the film also stars Marisa Tomei, Cheyenne Jackson, Darren Burrows and Charlie Tahan.

Sony Pictures Classics will release Love Is Strange on August 22.

Molina to Star in El Rey Network’s New Drama “Matador”

Alfred Molina has landed a new gol

The 60-year-old half-Spanish actor has joined the cast of El Rey Network’s upcoming drama series Matador.

Created by Bob Orci and Alex Kurtzman, the series chronicles the unlikely rise of Antonio “Matador” Bravo (portrayed by Gabriel Luna), a popular soccer star who in reality uses his sports career as a cover for his job as a skilled covert operative executing missions for a little known branch of the CIA.

Luna’s character is described as the “Latino take on James Bond.”

Molina will portray Andres Galan, owner of the ascendant LA Riot franchise.

Molina recently wrapped the feature Love Is Strange, which is slated for release later this year. He also appears in HBO’s The Normal Heart.

Molina most recently starred in TNT’s short-lived medical drama Monday Mornings.

Sony Pictures Classics and Alfred Molina are set to make strange bedfellows…

The art-house film distributor has acquired the distribution rights to the gay marriage drama Love is Strange, starring the 60-year-old half-Spanish actor.

Written and directed by Ira Sachs, the film centers on two longtime gay lovers who finally get married. One of them then gets fired and is unable to pay the rent. The couple must move in, separately, with a nephew and his family in Brooklyn and the two gay cops next door.

Along with Molina, the film also stars John Lithgow, Manny Pérez, Kelly Reilly, Tracy Letts, Marisa Tomei and Cheyenne Jackson.

The film received a strong response from the audience when it premiered earlier this year at the Eccles Theater.

The film has also garnered a French distribution deal with Pretty Pictures.

The 44-year-old Dominican actor has been cast in Ira SachsLove Is Strange, which is currently filming in New York City.

Perez will portray Roberto, the partner to Cheyenne Jackson’s character, in the drama about an older gay couple (Alfred Molina and John Lithgow) forced to live separately with friends and family shortly after they marry.

Love is Strange also stars Tracy Letts and Marisa Tomei.

Perez, best known for his roles on television Third Watch and the film Washington Heights, will be starring in 2014′s Crosstown and will appear in the upcoming season of Showtime’s Homeland.

The 59-year-old half-Spanish actor, who will be starring in TNT’s new medical drama series Monday Mornings this winter, will star in Ira Sach’s New York-based relationship drama Love is Strange.

Molina and Michael Gambon will star as a married couple in the follow-up to Sachs’ semi-autobiographical drama Keep the Lights On. Love is Strange will similarly explore the romantic ups and downs of a gay relationship, with Gambon and Molina playing longtime partners forced to live separately after their Manhattan nuptials.

Shooting on the film is set to begin this summer in New York.

Meanwhile, Molina’s new series by David E. Kelley’s premieres next month.

Michele’s First TV Spot for Candie’s for Kohl’s Released

Lea Michele is fallin’ in love big time in her latest Candie’s for Kohl’s commercial…

In the latest ad, which is set to the classic song “Love is Strange,” by R&B duo Mickey & Sylvia, the 25-year-old part-Spanish American Glee actress and Candie’s’ newest spokesperson appears walking down the street when she spots a pair of shoes in the window.

Michele immediately falls head over heels and begins to draw a heart in lipstick on the store window. But there’s a handsome shoe salesman working inside and he thinks she’s flirting with him, not falling for a perfect pair of heels.

Michele says: “He thinks I’m falling in love with him! But girls love their shoes!”

The TV spot, part of the shoe brand’s fall 2012 media campaign, will debut mid-month. Meanwhile, the print ads will start appearing in the August issues of fashion and lifestyle magazines, as well as online, outdoor and in Kohl’s marketing vehicles.

Pitbull Writes & Performs “Men in Black III” Track

He’s the sharpest dressed rapper in the business… And, now Pitbull is sharing his voice with the Men in Black franchise.

The 31-year-old Cuban American rap superstar has written a new song for the upcoming installment of Men in Black entitled “Back in Time.” The song, co-written with Marc Kinchen, Adrian Trejo and Urales Vargas, includes a sample of Mickey & Sylvia‘s 1950s hit “Love Is Strange.”

“It’s an incredible honor to be a part of such an amazing franchise as Men in Black and I have so much respect for Will Smith, especially with our similar musical backgrounds,” says Pitbull. “Wanting to keep the music fun yet modern, we used the slogan of the movie and flipped it back into the song that ‘in order to understand the future, you have to go back in time’.”

Men in Black 3 director Barry Sonnenfeld, meanwhile, gushes, “My 19-year-old daughter turned me on to Pitbull. I’m thrilled that he wrote such a great song for our movie that totally gets it.”

The song will be available as a digital single and released to radio across the United States on Monday, March 26, while the movie itself will be released in 3D in theaters nationwide on May 25.
