Louis C.K. Earns Second Consecutive TCA Award…

It’s like a case of déjà vu for Louis C.K.

The 45-year-old Mexican American stand-up comedian and actor picked up his second consecutive Television Critics Association Award on Saturday.

Louis C.K. once again picked up the award for Individual Achievement in Comedy for his Emmy-winning FX series Louie.

It’s the latest award for Louis C.K., who recently received a remarkable nine Emmy nominations.

This year alone he’s claimed a Producers Guild of America Digital V.I.P. Award, a Peabody Award and a Writers Guild Award. And the comedian was named one of Time magazine’s100 Influentials last year.

Louis C.K. Breaks His Own Record with Nine Primetime Emmy Nods

Louis C.K. has proven to be the Emmy darling once again, breaking his own record for the most  nominations in a single year.

The 45-year-old Mexican American actor/stand-up comedian has earned a massive nine individual for the 65th Primetime Emmy Awards nods, breaking the record for individual nods in a single year that he set last year.

Louis C.K., the creator of FX’s Louie, earned acting, producing, writing and directing nominations for his work on the critically acclaimed comedy series.

He also earned a Guest Actor in a Comedy nomination for hosting NBC’s  Saturday Night Live last fall.

But that’s not all… Louis C.K. also earned producing, writing, directing and editing nominations for his hit HBO special Oh My God.

Louis C.K. isn’t the only multiple nominee…

Bobby Cannavale, who earned two SAG Award nominations in December,  has earned two Emmy nods this year.

The 43-year-old half-Cuban American, an Emmy Award winner in 2005 for his recurring role on NBC’s Will & Grace, has earned guest actor nods in the comedy and drama categories for his roles on HBO’s Boardwalk Empire and Showtime’s Nurse Jackie.

Meantime, perpetual Emmy nominee Sofia Vergara has landed another nod for her scene-stealing role on ABC’s Modern Family.

The 41-year-old Colombian actress has earned her fourth consecutive Emmy nomination in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series category.

From fourth to first… Morena Baccarin has earned the first Emmy nomination of her career.

The 34-year-old Brazilian American actress, who is expecting her first child, earned the nod in the Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series category for her work on Showtime’s Homeland.

Other Latino nominees include former SNL star Fred Armisen in the Outstanding Writing For A Variety Series category for penning IFC’s Portlandia.

The nominations were announced on Thursday morning in Hollywood by actor Aaron Paul and Emmy host Neil Patrick Harris, who was a last-minute fill-in for actress Kate Mara.

The Primetime Emmy Awards will be presented on September 22 at 8:00 pm on CBS.

Smits Earns Critics’ Choice Television Award Nomination for His “Sons of Anarchy” Role

It’s no wonder Jimmy Smits is returning for the next season of Sons of Anarchy… His role as Neron “Nero” Padilla has earned some serious praise.

The 57-year-old Puerto Rican actor has earned a Critics’ Choice Television Award nomination in the Best Guest Performer in a Drama Series category for his performance on FX’s biker drama.

Smits starred in 12 of Sons of Anarchy’s 13 episodes last season. And, he’s set to appear in all episodes next season.

It’s the first Critics’ Choice Television Award nomination for the former West Wing star and Golden Globe and Emmy-winning actor.

Meanwhile, Louis C.K. continues to earn critical love…

The 45-year-old Mexican American actor/comedian has been nominated in the Best Actor in a Comedy Series category for his role on FX’s Louie, a show he created.

In addition, his series in nominated for Best Comedy Series. The show is up against The Big Band Theory, The Middle, New Girl, Parks and Recreation and Veep.

The awards will be handed out June 10 at the Beverly Hilton.

Louis C.K. Honored at the Producers Guild of America Digital V.I.P. Awards

Louis C.K. is receiving kudos for his work in the digital world…

The 45-year-old Mexican-American stand-up comedian/actor has been honored by the Producers Guild of America for his contributions to the advancement of digital entertainment and storytelling in the past year.

Louis C.K., who will be starring in a new stand-up comedy special for HBO soon, received the award last night  at the inaugural Digital V.I.P. Awards (Visionaries, Innovators and Producers) at the Bel Air home of entrepreneur Elon Musk.

Louis C.K., who earned a Peabody Award last week, was recognized in the Producers category, for having created content whose reach, execution and influence has advanced the audience experience. He was heralded for his FX series Louie and re-engineering the role of artist in entertainment distribution.

Other honorees include Jim Carrey, Conan O’Brien and Oscar-winning VFX supervisor Bill Westenhofer.

Louis C.K.’s FX Series “Louie” Wins Peabody Award

It’s no wonder Louis C.K. was named to Time’s 100 Influentials List… He’s just added another award to his mantle.

The 45-year-old Mexican-American stand-up comedian actor, who will be starring in a new HBO comedy special soon, has been named as one of the 39 recipients of the 72nd Annual Peabody Awards.

The winners, chosen by the Peabody board as the best in electronic media for the year 2012, were named in a ceremony last month in the Peabody Gallery on the University of Georgia’s Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication.

Louis C.K.’s FX series Louie was selected for its “serrated, boundary-testing take on being a single, showbiz dad.”

But Louis C.K.’s series wasn’t the only Peabody winner with a Latin connection.

ABC Family’s drama Switched at Birth, which stars Constance Marie, was recognized for its multicultural elements, which include major characters who are deaf.

Other winners include Rapido y Furioso, Univision’s Mexican perspective on the infamous Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosive gun-tracking debacle; and What Happened at Dos Erres, a This American Life spellbinder about a Guatemalan immigrant who learns that the man he believed to be his father actually led the massacre of his village.

“Our list of Peabody recipients for 2012 demonstrates the range of superb work,” said award organizers. “From local to national to international, from radio to television, broadcast to cable to web, the Peabody sets the goals for every type of media production. We’ll continue to do this, no matter how the world of electronic media develops.”

The 39 Peabodys will be formally presented at a luncheon on May 20 at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York.

HBO Releases Trailer for “Louis C.K.: Oh My God” Stand-Up Special

HBO has released the official trailer for the 45-year-old Mexican American comedian/actor’s latest stand-up special for the network, Louis C.K.: Oh My God.

In the clip, Louis C.K. dramatically describes the concept of the promotional trailer, announcing that the narrator will say things like “coming soon on HBO,” “a stand-up comedy event like no one has ever seen” and “the Greatest Comedian of the Generation of blah blah ever to do a thing on a thing.’ ”

In the hour-long TV special, the creator, star and writer of FX’s Emmy-winning series Louie will poke fun on wide range of topics such as “the food chain, animals, divorce, strange anecdotes, broken morality, murder and mortality.”

Louis C.K. has picked up his first Writers Guild Award…

The 45-year-old half-Mexican American actor, stand-up comedian and Emmy-winning writer was named the winner in the comedy series category at Sunday’s 65th Annual Writers Guild Awards ceremony.

Louis C.K., who will be starring in Woody Allen’s latest film Blue Jasmine this summer, won the award for penning his critically acclaimed FX series Louie, alongside Pamela Adlon and Vernon Chatman.

Fred Armisen won the WGA Award in the Comedy/Variety Series category. The 46-year-old half-Venezuelan actor and former Saturday Night Live star took home the prize for penning his IFC series Portlandia, along with fellow writers Carrie Brownstein, Karey Dornetto, Jonathan Krisel and Bill Oakley.

PBS’ Marcela Gaviria won the WGA Award in the Documentary – Current Events category. The Colombia-born journalist and filmmaker earned the award for penning Frontline’s “Money, Power and Wall Street: Episode One” documentary with Martin Smith.

The Writers Guild Awards, presented by the Writers Guild of America, honor outstanding achievement in writing in film, television, radio, new media, and other awards categories.

Louis C.K. In Talks to Star in David O. Russell’s Next Film

He’s the king of comedy… And, now Louis C.K. is thisclose to partnering with one of Hollywood’s hottest directors…

The 45-year-old half-Mexican American actor/comedian, who recently starred in Woody Allen‘s upcoming comedy Blue Jasmine, is in talks to take on a key role in David O. Russell‘s next project, an untitled film formerly dubbed American Bullshit.

The period drama, which has Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Jeremy Renner and Amy Adams attached to star, begins production next month.

Penned by The International’s Eric Singer, the film centers on con artist Mel Weinberg, who worked with the FBI in a far-reaching corruption case that stretched from Atlantic City to Washington, D.C. Louis C.K. will portray an FBI agent.

The film is tentatively set for release in late 2013. Columbia Pictures will handle U.S. distribution.

Louis C.K., who took home multiple Emmys in September for his work on FX’s Louie, is up for best performance by an actor in a TV series musical or comedy for the hit series at this weekend’s Golden Globes.

It’s a case of déjà vu for Michael Cuesta…

The 49-year-old filmmaker has earned his second consecutive DGA Award nomination from the Directors Guild of America for directing Showtime’s smash hit series Homeland.

Cuesta was nominated in the Dramatic Series category for directing Homeland’s episode entitled “The Choice.”

He’d previously earned a nomination for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Dramatic Series for the show’s “Pilot” episode in 2011.

Meanwhile, Louis C.K. has earned his first DGA Award nomination. The 45-year-old half-Mexican American actor/comedian received the nod in the Comedy Series category for directing the “New Year’s Eve” episode of his critically acclaimed FX series Louie.

Louis C.K. serves as the creator, star, producer, writer, director and editor of the series.

Winners will be announced at the 65th annual DGA Awards Dinner hosted by Kelsey Grammer on February 2.

The third time could turn out to be the charm for Sofia Vergara…

During a special announcement ceremony this morning co-hosted by Jessica Alba, the 40-year-old Colombian actress received yet another Golden Globe nomination from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA).

It’s Vergara’s third consecutive Golden Globe nomination in the Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television for her role as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on ABC’s Modern Family. She lost in 2011 to Glee’s Jane Lynch and to American Horror Story’s Jessica Lange in 2012.

Vergara – who picked up two SAG Award nominations earlier this week – will be competing against Nashville’s Hayden Panettiere, The Good Wife’s Archie Panjabi, Game Change’s Sarah Paulson and Downton Abbey’s Maggie Smith.

Meanwhile, Louis C.K. has earned the first Golden Globe nomination of his career, for his critically acclaimed role on FX’s Louie.

The 45-year-old half-Mexican actor is nominated in the Best Performance by an Actor In A Television Series — Comedy Or Musical category. He’ll face off against 30 Rock’s Alec Baldwin, House of Lies’ Don Cheadle, Episodes’ Matt LeBlanc and The Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons.

NBC will televise the 70th annual Globes awards show on January 13, with Amy Poehler and Tina Fey co-hosting the event.
