Bonham Carter Earns Critics’ Choice Television Award Nod for “Burton and Taylor”

Helena Bonham Carter’s on-screen transformation as a Hollywood legend is still earning recognition…

The 47-year-old part-Spanish actress, who earned a British Academy of Film and Television Arts’ TV Awards nomination last month, has been nominated for a Critics’ Choice Television Award from the Broadcast Television Journalists Association.

Bonham Carter received the nod in the Best Actress in a Movie or Mini-Series category for her portrayal of the late Elizabeth Taylor in the BBC biopic Burton and Taylor.

She’ll face off against Return to Zero’s Minnie Driver, A Day Late and a Dollar Short’s Whoopi Goldberg, Bonnie & Clyde’s Holliday Grainger, American Horror Story: Coven’s Jessica Lange and The Trip to Bountiful’s Cicely Tyson.

Meanwhile, Louis C.K. has been nominated for Best Actor in a Comedy Series for his performance in his FX series Louie.

The 46-year-old Mexican American actor, who just earned a similar nod from the Television Critics Association, will compete against The Mindy Project’s Chris Messina, Silicon Valley’s Thomas Middleditch, The Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons, Parks and Recreation’s Adam Scott and The Crazy Ones’ Robin Williams.

Programs and performances for this round of Critics Choice Television Awards are eligible if they were telecast between June 1, 2013 and May 31, 2014. But submissions still are being accepted for The Most Exciting New Series category, and any series premiering after May 1, 2014 is eligible – including any announced summer, fall or winter premieres.

That category will be announced on June 9 — 10 days before CW broadcasts the Critics Choice Television Awards on June 19, at 8:00 pm ET, hosted by Cedric the Entertainer.

The awards show will be tape-delayed for an 8:00 pm PT start time.

Louis C.K. Nominated for Television Critics Association TCA Award

Louis C.K. may have matching Television Critics Association trophies soon.

The 46-year-old Mexican American comedian, actor, screenwriter and producer has been nominated for a TCA Award in the Individual Achievement in Comedy category, an award he picked up last year.

Louis C.K. is nominated once again for his performance in FX’s Emmy-winning comedy series Louie, which is written, directed, edited and produced by the comedian, who also happens to be the show’s creator.

He’ll face off against The Mindy Project’s Mindy Kaling, Veep’s Julia Louis-Dreyfus, The Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons and Parks and Recreation’s Amy Poehler.

Meanwhile, Louie is nominated in the Outstanding Achievement in Comedy category.

The series, now in its fourth season,is up againstThe Big Bang Theory, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Mindy Project and Veep.

Hosted by the Television Critics Association, the media organization comprised of television critics, reporters, columnists, and bloggers working in the U.S. and Canada, this year’s TCA Awards recognize outstanding television programming in the 2013-2014 season, honoring actors, producers and programs in a variety of categories, including news and information, youth, reality, drama and comedy achievements.

The winners of the 30th Annual TCA Awards will be announced at the invitation-only presentation on Saturday, July 19, 2014, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

Louis C.K. is officially a two-time American Comedy Awards winner…

The 46-year-old Mexican American actor/comedian picked up two trophies at this year’s American Comedy Awards, which aired on NBC on May 8.

Louis C.K., a four-time Primetime Emmy-winner, picked up the award for Comedy Supporting Actor – Film for his performance in American Hustle.

He beat outThis Is the End’s Danny McBride, Nebraska’s Will Forte, Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues’ Steve Carell and This Is the End’s Jonah Hill.

The star of FX’s Louie also took home the award for Comedy Special of the Year for his Emmy-winning HBO comedy special Louis C.K.: Oh My God.

The awards, which were launched in 1987, recognize performances and performers in the field of comedy, with an emphasis on television comedy and comedy films.

Louis C.K.’s FX Comedy “Louie” Registers Strong Season 4 Premiere Numbers

Louis C.K.’s television absence has apparently made viewers’ hearts grow fonder…

After a 19-month break, the 46-year-old Mexican American actor/comedian’s Emmy-winning FX comedy Louie has registered strong numbers in its Season 4 premiere.

The premiere episode saw a 19-percent rise in viewership over the show’s Season 3 average (941,000 vs. 791,000).

Louie was also up 26% in adults 18-49 (635,000 vs. 505,000).

The Season 4 debut of Louie outperformed its half-hour lead-in audience – 9:30 PM’s Horrible Bosses — by 16% (941,000 vs. 809,000) in total viewers.

The second Louie episode of the new season grew its demo crowd by 3% (651,000 vs. 635,000) compared with the first episode and retained 97% of the overall audience (910,000 vs. 941,000).

Compared with its Season 3 average, Season 4 of Louie is up 17% in overall audience (925,000 vs 791,000) and 27% in the key demo (643,000 vs. 505,000).

Louis C.K. Appears in Promos Announcing His Upcoming SNL Hosting Gig

Louis C.K. is ready to make his triumphant return on NBC’s Saturday Night Live…

The 46-year-old Mexican American actor/comedian appears alongside SNL cast member Kenan Thompson in a series of promos announcing his hosting gig on the network’s long-running sketch comedy series this weekend.

In one of the clips, the Thompson asks the Emmy-winning creator and star of FX’s Louie what the “C.K.” stands for. After receiving a rather mundane response, Thompson whispered his previous (possibly obscene) guess in C.K.’s ear. Thompson: “What? You look like the type of guy who would do that!” Louis C.K.: “What’s wrong with you?! Why would you …?”

U.K. singer-songwriter Sam Smith, whose hits include “Money on My Mind,” “Lay Me Down” and “Stay With Me,” will be the musical guest this weekend.

Saturday Night Live airs Saturdays at 11:30 pm ET.

Louis C.K.’s “Louie” Returning with Back-to-Back Episodes on May 5

Louis C.K.’s critically acclaimed series is returning to television in May.

Following its one-year hiatus, FX has announced that the 46-year-old Mexican American actor/comedian’s comedy series Louie will premiere on May 5 with back-to-back new episodes.

In announcing the hiatus in 2012, Louis C.K. and FX president John Landgraf referred to the first three seasons of Louie as the first act of a trilogy, with the comedian noting he hoped the show could go to nine seasons.

FX had ordered a 13-episode season of the single-camera show, but series creator-director-writer-star Louis C.K. delivered a 14th episode.

The offbeat comedy earned Louis C.K., the show’s creator, an Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series in 2012.

Louie also earned the first-ever Outstanding Comedy Series nomination for a basic cable show in 2013.

Louis C.K. has kept busy during the series’ hiatus, inking an overall deal with FX Productions in December, co-writing a comedy series with Zach Galifianakis that FX ordered to pilot in January; touring with his stand-up acts and offering $5 downloads his 1998 feature film directorial debut.

He also has been tapped for a voice role in Illumination Entertainment’s untitled animated Pets film and is set to host Saturday Night Live for a second time on March 29.

Leto Wins First-Ever SAG Award for His Performance in “Dallas Buyers Club”

It’s turning out to be a rewarding week for Jared Leto…

The 42-year-old part-Spanish American actor/singer took home his first-ever SAG Award on Saturday night at the 20th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Leto, a first-time SAG Award nominee, earned “The Actor” statuette for best supporting actor for his performance as male-to-female transgender character Rayon in Dallas Buyers Club.

Leto’s SAG Award marked his third prize in a week for the role — he also won his first-ever Golden Globe and a Critics’ Choice Movie Award. Additionally, he earned his first-ever Academy Award nomination this week, an award Hollywood insiders believe he’ll take home on March 2.

Leto dedicated his supporting actor SAG award to “the Rayons of the world, the people who made a choice to live their lives not as others would have them live it but as they have chosen to dream it.”

But Leto wasn’t the only Latino actor to pick up the first SAG Award of his career…

Mexican American comedian Louis C.K., a previous nominee for Male Actor in a Comedy Series for his starring role on FX’s Louie, and first-time nominee Michael C. Peña each earned “The Actor” for forming part of the cast of David O. Russell’s drama American Hustle, which took outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture.

Breaking Bad star Steven Michael Quezada also picked up his first SAG Award. The 50-year-old Mexican American actor and two-time nominee, who portrays DEA Agent Steven Gomez on the series, and his cast mates took home the award for took outstanding performance by a cast in a drama series.

From first to fourth…

Sofia Vergara and Rico Rodriguez made history when they picked up their fourth consecutive SAG Award for outstanding performance by a cast in a comedy series for starring on Modern Family.

With the victory, the hit ABC sitcom broke a tie with Seinfeld for most ensemble cast in a comedy series wins in the history of the SAG Awards, cementing the show’s status as one of the best television comedies of all time.

The SAG Awards were handed out during a live simulcast on TNT and TBS on Saturday night from the Shrine Exposition Center in Los Angeles.

FX Orders Zach Galifianakis-Starring Comedy Pilot Co-Written by Louis C.K.

FX may have landed its next critically acclaimed series, with help from its star Louis C.K.

The network has ordered a comedy pilot created by and starring Zach Galifianakis and co-written by the 46-year-old Mexican American comedian and star of FX’s Emmy-winning series Louie, which also earned a Peabody Award last April.

There’s still no concept yet for the project, the first to come out of Louis C.K. and his company Pig Newton’s overall pact which FX Productions.

Louis C.K. had previously signed a production deal with FX Productions to help get new projects off the ground.

Galifianakis will executive produce alongside Louis C.K.

This marks the 12th greenlighted comedy pilot for FX Productions as the company is beefing up its comedy production efforts to supply both FX and sibling FXX with content.

FX Networks has inked an overall deal with the 46-year-old Mexican American comedian/actor and his company Pig Newton to create and produce new programming.

Louis CK’s agreement is separate from the one the has with the network to produce his critically acclaimed comedy series Louie, which earned the network its first Primetime Emmy Awards nod for Outstanding Comedy Series.

The comedy series, which Louis CK created, returns for Season 4 in May 2014.

Under the new pact, Louis CK’s first, the future series will be created or supervised by the comedian, who would have the option to write or direct any of them and will executive produce.

“Working with Louis CK has been one of the most rewarding and enjoyable experiences of my career,” said John Landgraf, CEO of FX Networks and FX Productions. “So many incredibly talented artists want to work with Louis and follow down the independent and idiosyncratic creative trail he has blazed. I can’t wait to see who he brings through our door, not to mention any new projects that he wants to create for us.”

Louis C.K.’s Emmy count continues to rise…

The 46-year-old Mexican American stand-up comedian and actor picked up the fourth Primetime Emmy of his career on Sunday night at the 65th annual Creative Arts Emmy Awards, held at the Nokia Theatre at L.A. Live.

Louis C.K., a record-breaking nine-time Emmy nominee this year, won the statuette for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series for penning his hit HBO comedy special Louis C.K.: Oh My God.

He still has a chance to add to his haul during Sunday night’s Primetime Emmy Awards show. The creator of FX’s Louie, has earned acting, producing, writing and directing nominations for his work on the critically acclaimed comedy series.

The Creative Arts Emmy Awards are typically held one week before the televised Primetime Emmy Awards.

Louis C.K. was not present for the show.

This year’s Creative Arts show will air, in an edited two-hour special, on FXX this coming Saturday, September 21, at 9:00 pm.
