Willy Chirino Recruits Fellow Cuban Artists to Release New Version of Cuban Protest Single “Que Se Vayan Ya”

The 74-year-old Cuban musician has released a new version of his single “Que Se Vayan Ya,” 13 years after its original release.

The award-winning salsa artist recruited Cuban artists Lenier, El Micha, Chacal, Osmani Garcia, and Srta. Dayana to show solidarity with the Cuban community through the powerful protest anthem and its continuous chant for “Viva Cuba, libre!”

“Que Se Vayan Ya,” which appeared on Chirino’s 2008 album Pa’ Lante, was co-produced by Chirino, Nelson Albareda, Nelson Martínez, Lenier, and Mauro Bertrán, giving this extended version a Cubaton twist while keeping its tropical essence.

“It is our duty as citizens of the world to support the movement that arose on the island to achieve Cuba’s freedom,” Albareda, producer and CEO of Loud and Live, said in a statement. “What better way to do it than with a new anthem that inspires those brave people on the island to continue with this fight? With that objective in mind, I turned to Willy, with whom I’ve been friends with and shared projects for many years, to make this musical production with other notable artists in a cry for freedom.”

“Que Se Vayan Ya” comes almost two months after the social unrest in the island due to the power outages, and food and medicine shortages as COVID-19 cases are on the rise.

The July rallies, which ended with several arrests, were in part set off by Cuba’s deteriorating economic situation that was intensified by the pandemic that’s cut off tourism dollars and has left people unable to work because of the COVID-imposed lockdown.

“The events of July 11 have given us hope that the end of this totalitarian regime is coming,” Chirino added. “It’s important that this flame is not extinguished and that the whole world becomes aware of the crimes that are committed daily on ‘Prison Island.’ United for this purpose, we are raising our voices to demand once and for all that they [the government] leave!”

Farruko is taking La 167 to the mainland U.S.

The 30-year-old Puerto Rican singer-songwriter will hit the road in November, as he launched his La 167 U.S. tour.

Named after his upcoming studio album and in honor of one of the main highways in Puerto Rico near his hometown, the La 167 tour will kick off on November 19 in San Diego’s Viejas Arena and make pit stops in Houston, Atlanta, Miami and San Juan and Puerto Rico, among other cities.

The tour, presented for the most part by Loud and Live and Live Nation on select shows, is set to wrap up February 20 in Chicago’s Rosemont Theatre.

“I am very excited to be able to return to the stage after being away for more than a year due to the pandemic,” the urban artist said in a statement. “Also, I am very happy because this will be my first tour at some of the most important arenas in the United States. With this tour, I will be giving back encouragement to all my fans who during the lockdown continued to connect with my music. I promise to provide you with a show full of energy and a lot of great music as you all deserve it.”

In addition to his tour, Farruko is finalizing his next studio album and appears on the F9 soundtrack on a track called “Rapido” alongside Myke Towers, Amenazzy and Rochy RD.

Soda Stereo’s COVID-19-Postponed “Gracias Totales” Tour Getting an Early 2022 Reboot

Soda Stereo is preparing for a restart…

The Argentine rock band’s long-awaited Gracias Totales tour — which launched on February 29, 2020, in Colombia but was postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak – is set to resume with new U.S. dates.

Part tribute to the rock band’s late frontman Gustavo Cerati and part reunion of the band’s surviving members Zeta Bosio and Charly Alberti, the tour will resume on February 27, 2022, at Miami’s FTX Arena (formerly American Airlines Arena) and on March 3 at The Forum in Inglewood, California. The Miami show will be presented by Move Concerts and Loud And Live and Live Nation will present the LA area show.

The Gracias Totales tour will feature special performances and state-of-the-art technology that will make it possible for fans to enjoy the voice and image of Cerati.

“It is exciting to hear the whole process of how the band is doing,” the tour’s production manager and the band’s first manager and sound engineer said in a statement. “I think that people are going to be moved, not only because of the technical aspects but also the spirit and energy are impressive.”

Fourteen invited artists were set to appear during the previous U.S. dates including Gustavo Santaolalla, Draco Rosa, Julieta Venegas, Richard Coleman and Aterciopelados’ Andrea Echeverri, to name a few. No word yet on the final guest lineup.

The previously announced shows in New York and Houston will not be rescheduled according to a “lack of availability of adequate venues because of the post-COVID concert schedule.” However, promoters will fully refund those who purchased their tickets.

Soda Stereois bringing special thanks to the U.S.

The Argentine rock band officially announced that is Gracias Totales tour is hitting the United States in 2020, as revealed by bassist Zeta Bosio and drummer Charly Alberti.

The tour, presented by Loud and Live, and Move Concerts, will honor the band’s late Argentine frontman and guitarist Gustavo Cerati, who passed away on September 4, 2014, after suffering a stroke. 

More than 10 years after Cerati last stepped foot on a stage at Miami’s AmericanAirlines Arena in 2007, Soda Stereo’s members, joined by a roster of special guests via in-person or audiovisual format, will perform some of their timeless hits such as “De Musica Ligera,” “Persiana Americana,” “Tratame Suavemente” and more. 

“In life, there are moments to laugh, to cry, to get excited,” Bosio and Alberti expressed in a press statement. “To show gratitude with love and respect. We want to celebrate these songs. Share in their good vibes together. Friends from everywhere will accompany us.” 

The Gracias Totalestour marks Soda Stereo’s farewell tour and will visit fans in New York, Miami, Houston, and Los Angeles throughout the month of April next year.
