Yandel Signs with Warner Music Latina

Yandel has a new deal…

The 46-year-old Puerto Rican singer and songwriter, whose real name is Llandel Veguilla Malavé, has signed with Warner Music Latina, marking his first deal with a major label after releasing his latest albums (Quien Contra Mi 2 and Resistencia) via his own company, Y Entertainment.

YandelThe signing took place at the Empire State Building in New York City, where Yandel kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month festivities by leading the lighting ceremony and treating a group of attendees to an intimate concert at the Empire State Building Observatory.

“I am truly excited to join the Warner Music Latina family and look forward to bringing new music to fans worldwide, fostering this new adventure with the label, and continuing to write my musical story together,” said Yandel, who rose to fame more than 20 years ago as one half of the iconic reggaetón duo, Wisin & Yandel.

Yandel’s first release on the label was his Myke Towers collaboration “Borracho y Loco,” which came out on Thursday, September 21.

After scoring countless hits as part of Wisin & Yandel, including “Abusadora” and “Rakata,” Yandel launched a full-fledged solo career in 2013.

In addition to 2003’s Quien Contra Mí — a solo album released prior to Wisin & Yandel’s 2013 hiatus — he’s released a total of eight solo albums, including his 2013’s De Líder a Leyenda, which peaked at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Top Latin Albums chart. In February, he scored his first solo Billboard Hot 100 entry with “Yandel 150” in collaboration with Feid.

The 39-year-old Puerto Rican reggaeton singer, whose real name is Llandel Veguilla Malavé, has earned his ninth top 10 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart (dated December 3), as “Nunca Me Olvides” hops 12-10 in its 19th charting frame.

Before going solo in 2013, the reggaetonero also notched 21 top 10s on the chart as part of the Grammy-winning duo Wisin & Yandel, bringing his career top 10 total to 30.

The chart rise follows his performance of the track on the Latin Grammys, which was broadcast live November 17 on Univision.

Yandel took home awards for best urban song and best urban/fusion performance, for his song “Encantadora” — his highest-charting song to date on Hot Latin Songs, reaching No. 3 on the April 9, 2016, tally.

The latest chart frame also provides the track with its best airplay, sales and streaming week. At radio, the track rises 17 percent (to 14 million audience impressions in the week ending Nov. 20, according to Nielsen Music), bumping it up 4-2 on the Latin Airplay chart.

The song was streamed 747,000 times in the week ending November 17 (up 6 percent), achieving a new high, with the bulk (71 percent) of plays coming from YouTube. The music video, uploaded in July, has over 87 million global views to date. Sales increase 29 percent (to 1,000 downloads in the week ending Nov. 17), pushing it 24-22 on the Latin Digital Song Sales chart.

Wisin & Yandel Release “Algo Me Gusta De Ti” Music Video

Wisin & Yandel continue their efforts to crossover into mainstream…

Following the Puerto Rican reggaeton duo’s dancetastic Follow the Leader” collaboration with Jennifer Lopez, Juan Luis Morera Luna (Wisin) and Llandel Veguilla Malavé (Yandel) have joined voices with Chris Brown and T-Pain for the duo’s latest single “Algo Me Gusta De Ti“.

In the just-released music video for the track, the men are joined by several hot ladies at a rave party as they show off some fancy footwork on the dance floor.

The clip opens with a skinny man cleaning a swimming pool while eying a sexy brunette who walk by.

“What are you looking at?” the owner of the house scolds him. “Finish your job and let yourself out. I’m already late for my vacation.”

Algo Me Gusta De Ti” is the latest single from Wisin & Yandel’s ninth studio album “Lideres,” which has been in stores since this summer.

Pitbull Receives BMI President’s Award

He’s made music that has seriously entertained the masses… And, now Pitbull is being recognized for his influence on the entertainment industry.

The 31-year-old Cuban American rap superstar—who recently partnered with Jennifer Lopez on “Dance Again,” their second hit single together—received the BMI President’s Award during the 19th edition of the BMI Awards.

Held Friday night at the Encore Hotel in Las Vegas, the gala also served to recognize the work of songwriters and recording studios for the success of their musical creations in 2011.

Pitbull, who performed at the ceremony, also received the BMI award for songwriter of the year, a recognition he shared with Juan Luis Morena LunaWisin,” Llandel Veguilla MalaveYandel” and Espinoza Paz.

Niña de mi corazon,” recorded by La Arrolladora Banda El Limon, was selected as the BMI Latin song of the year with the award going to songwriter Horacio Palencia.
