Carla Jimenez Starring in Hulu’s Horror Comedy “Carved”

Carla Jimenez is carving out another scene-stealing role…

The 50-year-old Latina character actress is starring in Carved, a horror comedy starring Peyton Elizabeth Lee and produced for Hulu Originals by WorthenBrooks (formerly 20th Digital Studio).

Directed by up-and-comer Justin Harding, from his script written with Cheryl Meyer, Carved is based on the 2018 short of the same name, written and directed by Harding for Hulu’s Bite Size Halloween.

The story is about a heartbroken teenage playwright, her younger brother, and a group of survivors who become trapped in a historical reenactment village on Halloween night and must band together to survive a relentless attack by a sentient and vengeful pumpkin.

Others in the cast include Corey Fogelmanis (Ma), Wyatt Lindner (Titans), Sasha Mason (Ozark), Jonah Lees (The Phantom of the Open), DJ Qualls (The New Guy), Marc Sully Saint-Fleur (Curb Your Enthusiasm), Elvis Nolasco (Godfather of Harlem), Matty Cardarople (Stranger Things), Jackson Kelly (Chucky), and Chris Elliott (Schitt’s Creek).

Part of WorthenBrooks’ first-look horror slate with Hulu Originals, the film was developed by WorthenBrooks, with David Brooks, Debbie Liebling, Arbi Pedrossian and Jenna Cavelle serving as producers.

Jimenez’s previous roles include Lincoln HeightsNacho Libre, Lady in the Water, Accepted, My Name Is Earl and Little Britain USA.

Carrero to Voice Lead Princess on Disney Junior’s “Elena of Avalor”

Disney Junior has announced plans to launch an animated spinoff from Sofia The First, with the 26-year-old Dominican actress voicing the lead character.

Entitled Elena of Avalor, it centers on Princess Elena of Avalor, a confident and compassionate teenager in an enchanted fairytale kingdom inspired by diverse Latin cultures and folklore.

The title character will be introduced in a special episode of its mothership series Sofia The First, in a story arc that will usher in the 2016 launch.

Carrero’s journey as Princess Elena began long ago when her parents and kingdom were taken from her by the evil sorceress, Shuriki. She bravely faced the sorceress to protect her little sister, Princess Isabel, and grandparents but in the process, her magical amulet pulled her inside its enchanted jewel, saving her life but imprisoning her at the same time. Decades later, Princess Sofia of Enchancia discovers the truth about the amulet she has worn since joining her royal family and sets out to restore Elena to her human form and help her return to the kingdom of Avalor.

The series will be presented in 25 languages on Disney Junior channels and daily programming blocks for kids age 2-7 on Disney Channels, among other platforms, in 154 countries around the world.

Disney Television Animation is producing Elena Of Avalor and Sofia The First‘s Craig Gerber is executive producing. Silvia Cardenas Olivas (Moesha, The Brothers Garcia), is the story editor, and Elliot M. Bour (The Little Engine That Could) is the supervising director.

Carrero’s credits include television appearances on The Americans, The Mentalist, Lincoln Heights, Young & Hungry, Hannah Montana, Men of a Certain Age, The Middle, Greek, Zeke and Luther and Baby Daddy.

Carrero Cast in Recurring Role on FX’s “The Americans”

Aimee Carrero will be proving her intelligence on television in the near future…

The 25-year-old Dominican actress has landed a recurring role on FX’s spy series The Americans, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Carrero, who was a series regular on the Cartoon Network live-action series Level Up, will portray Chena, a smart yet impulsive Sandinista freedom fighter who “will go to any lengths to support her cause.”

The casting indicates that the United States’ assistance of the Nicaraguan Contras will be among the historical events of the 1980s that the FX political drama will explore in its second season.

Carrero has also been cast in Young and Hungry, a multi-camera comedy pilot from ABC Family and CBS Studios. Carrero will play Tessa, the best friend of series protagonist Gabi (Emily Osment).

Tessa is described as an ambitious banking intern who is always hustling to make ends meet. If the pilot is picked up, it will be a series regular role.

Carrero’s credits include Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel and Blue Lagoon: The Awakening as well as guest spots on Greek, Lincoln Heights and Hannah Montana.

The second season of The Americans will premiere in January.
