Bardem Earns Saturn Award Nomination…

He may not have earned an Academy Award nomination this year, but Javier Bardem is still having an out of this world awards season…

The 43-year-old Spanish actor has received a Saturn Award nomination from the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films for his critically acclaimed role in the latest installment of the James Bond franchise, Skyfall.

The awards, in their 39th year, celebrate the best genre films, television shows and home entertainment.

Bardem, whose performance has earned recognition from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts and the London Film Critics’ Circle, has been nominated in the Best Supporting Actor category. He’s up against Prometheus’ Michael Fassbender, The Avengers’ Clark Gregg, The Dark Knight Rises’ Joseph Gordon-Levitt, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’s Ian McKellen and Django Unchained’s Christoph Waltz.

Meanwhile, Oscar-nominee Paco Delgado is nominated in the Best Costume category for his work on Tom Hooper‘s film adaptation of the Broadway musical Les Misérables.

The Saturn Awards will be presented in June, though the ceremony’s exact date and location have yet to be announced.

Pablo Berger’s “Blancanieves” Wins Big at the Goya Awards

Pablo Berger’s Blancanieves has proven to be the belle of the ball at this year’s Goya Awards…

The 49-year-old Spanish director’s silent, black-and-white film, a retelling of the Snow White story, earned 10 statues, including the top prize for Best Film, at the Spanish Film Academy‘s annual awards show, Spain’s equivalent of the Academy Awards.

Maribel Verdu, who said she’s “grown to enjoy playing the bad guy,” won her second Goya for her role as the evil stepmother in Blancanieves. The 42-year-old Spanish actress edged out Naomi Watts, Penélope Cruz and Aida Folch for the award.

Blancanieves’ re-imagined Snow White, Macarena Garcia, was named New Actress. It’s the 24-year-old Spanish actress’ first starring role.

Paco Delagado, currently nominated for an Oscar for his costume design work for Les Miserables, won the Goya for his work on Blancanieves, which included the creation of 18 different costumes for Verdu’s character.

Meanwhile, Juan Antonio Bayona’s dramatic The Impossible, which has broken box office records in Spain, scored five awards, including the Goya for Best Director.

Bayona brought down the house when he left the stage after receiving his Goya to present it to Maria Belon, the mother of the real-life family that survived the 2004 tsunami upon which the film is based.

Bonham Carter to Star in the BBC’s Burton & Taylor TV Movie

Helena Bonham Carter will be portraying one of the great screen actresses of Hollywood’s Golden Age in an upcoming BBC project…

The 47-year-old part-Spanish actress and Dominic West have been cast as legendary, volatile ex-lovers Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton in the BBC’s television movie Burton & Taylor.

The 90-minute film, which will air on the British network’s BBC Four, will chart the pair’s ill-fated appearance in a 1983 revival of the Noel Coward play, Private Lives, which ran for 63 performances on Broadway. Burton and Taylor were famously married twice, from 1964-1974 and again from 1975-1976.

Most recently, Lindsay Lohan and Grant Bowler starred in a Lifetime biopic about the turbulent couple.

Burton & Taylor is an in-house project from BBC Drama Productions based on the screenplay from Made In Dagenham’s William Iory.

Bonham Carter, a two-time Academy Award nominee who most recently starred in the film adaptation of the musical Les Misérables, has starred in The King’s Speech, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Alice in Wonderland and several of the Harry Potter films.

Delgado Receives Costume Designers Guild Award Nod

Paco Delgado continues to receive kudos for his costume design work on Les Misérables…

The Spanish costume designer, who earned his first Oscar nomination earlier this month, has picked up a Costume Designers Guild Award nomination.

Delgado is nominated for a CDG Award in the Excellence in Period Film category for overseeing the creation of more than 2,200 outfits for the cast of Tom Hooper‘s film adaptation of the Broadway musical Les Misérables.

Paco Delgado has a date with Oscar…

The Spanish costume designer has earned his first Academy Award nomination in the Best Costume Design category for his impressive work in Oscar-winning director Tom Hooper‘s film adaptation of the Broadway musical Les Misérables.

Delgado, considered a favorite to earn an Oscar nod all season, oversaw the creation of more than 2,200 outfits for the cast of the epic film. He recently opened up about his designs in an online featurette.

Meanwhile, Chilean cinematographer Claudio Miranda has picked up his second Oscar nomination for his work Ang Lee’s adventure drama Life of Pi. He’d previously earned a nod for 2008’s The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

Pablo Larraín earned his firstAcademy Awardnomination in the Best Foreign Language Film categoryfor directingthe Spanish-language drama No, starring Gael García Bernal as an in-demand advertising executive who develops a campaign that helps overthrow Chilean military dictator Augusto Pinochet’s regime.

Mexican sound mixer José Antonio García, who earned critical acclaim for his sound mixing Alejandro González Iñárritu’s Babel, earned his first Academy Award nomination in the Best Sound Mixing category for his work on Ben Affleck’s Argo.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has nominated Malik Bendjelloul’s Searching for Sugar Man – the critically acclaimed film which tells the story of Mexican-American singer-songwriter Sixto Rodriguez – in the Best Documentary Film category.

Bardem Receives BAFTA Award Nomination

Skyfall’s Javier Bardem is a hit in England…

The 43-year-old Spanish actor, who masterfully plays the villain in the latest James Bond film has followed up his London Film Critics’ Circle nod with a BAFTA Award nomination.

Bardem was revealed as a candidate in the Best Supporting Actor category during the announcement of nominees by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.

Bardem, who previously won a BAFTA Award in 2007 for his performance in No Country for Old Men, will face off against Argo’s Alan Arkin, Django Unchained’s Christoph Waltz, The Master’s Philip Seymour Hoffman and Lincoln’s Tommy Lee Jones.

Bardem’s nomination is one of eight nominations for Skyfall, which is now the highest-grossing film in United Kingdom history.

Meanwhile, Malik Bendjelloul and Simon Chinn’s Searching for Sugar Man, the documentary about Mexican-American musician Rodriguez was nominated in the Best Documentary category.

Chilean cinematographer Claudio Miranda earned a BAFTA Award nomination, the second of his career, for his work on Ang Lee’s Life of Pi.

Spanish costume designer Paco Delgado earned his first BAFTA Award nomination for his costume design work on the film adaptation of Broadway’s Les Misérables.

The BAFTA Awards ceremony will take place on February 10.

Bardem Receives Critics Choice Movie Award Nomination

It’s turning out to be a rewarding awards season for Javier Bardem…

The 43-year-old Spanish actor and Oscar-winner has been nominated for a 2013 Critics Choice Movie Award for Best Supporting Actor from the Broadcast Film Critics Association for his villainous role in the latest Bond film, Skyfall.

Bardem is competing against Argo’s Alan Arkin, Silver Linings Playbook’s Robert De Niro, The Master’s Philip Seymour Hoffman, Lincoln’s Tommy Lee Jones and Magic Mike’s Matthew McConaughey.

Last week Bardem received a Satellite Award nomination from the International Press Academy for his Skyfall performance.

Meanwhile, the Broadcast Film Critics Association nominated Chilean cinematographer Claudio Miranda for Best Cinematography for his work on Ang Lee’s Life of Pi, as well as Spanish costume designer Paco Delgado for Best Costume Design for his work on Les Misérables.

Winners will be announced on January 10, 2013, at a ceremony to be broadcast live on the CW network.

Delgado Discusses The Inspiration for His “Les Misérables” Costumes

He’s been nominated for Spain’s Goya Awards and Mexico’s Ariel Awards for his inspired work on The Skin I Live In and Biutiful… But Paco Delgado could soon receive his first Academy Award nod…

The Spanish costume designer, new to the Hollywood scene, is seeing his name at the top of many Oscar prediction lists thanks to his work in Oscar-winning director Tom Hooper‘s much anticipated film adaptation of the Broadway musical Les Misérables.

And now Delgado’s opening up about his inspiration and the resulting costumes in a special video leading up to the film’s release.

Starring Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried, Les Misérables opens nationwide on December 25.

Bardem Receives Satellite Award Nod

He’s being hailed as one of the greatest villains in Bond history… And, now Javier Bardem is getting some awards recognition to go with it…

The 43-year-old Spanish actor has received a Satellite Award from the International Press Academy for his inspired role in the latest installment of the James Bond franchise, Skyfall.

Bardem is nominated in the Actor in a Supporting Role category. He’s up against some stiff competition: The Master’s Philip Seymour Hoffman, Silver Linings Playbook’s Robert De Niro, Flight’s John Goodman, Lincoln’s Tommy Lee Jones and Les Miserables’ Eddie Redmayne.

Meanwhile, Searching for Sugar Man, the documentary about 70-year-old Mexican American singer/songwriter Rodriguez is one of the eight nominated films in the Motion Picture, Documentary category. Last week the critically acclaimed film was nominated for a PGA Award in the same category by the Producers Guild of America.

Other Latinos nominated for a Satellite Award include Chilean cinematographer Claudio Miranda in the Cinematography category for his visually stunning work on Ang Lee’s Life of Pi and Spanish costume designer Paco Delgado in the Costume Design category for his work on the musical Les Miserables.

The 17^th annual Satellite Awards cover a total of 31 film and TV categories. Winners will be announced during a gala on December 16 at the Intercontinental Hotel in Century City, California.

Martin to Perform at the Tony Awards

Following his triumphant return to The Great White Way in Evita, Ricky Martin will be performing on Broadway’s biggest night.

The 40-year-old Puerto Rican singer/actor will bring his role as Ernesto “Che” Guevara to life at the upcoming Tony Awards, which will be hosted by How I Met Your Mother’s Neil Patrick Harris.

Martin, who made his Broadway debut in Les Miserables, has wowed audiences on Broadway alongside his Evita co-stars Elena Rogers, who plays Eva Perón, and Michael Cerveris, who plays Juan Perón.

To get in character as the controversial revolutionary icon—in a role that has taken him to “another place mentally, physically, and spiritually”—Martin has grown a moustache. But the experience has had more than a physical impact on him.

“I’ve felt emotions onstage that I never felt before, it has strengthened me as a person and as an artist,” Martin said in a press conference in March. “It’s been a great journey. I’m here to grow and to learn. It’s been a fascinating trip,” he added.

In addition to Martin, the list of performers at this year’s Tony Awards include

Cuban-American Broadway star Rául Esparza, Audra McDonald, Matthew Broderick and the casts of Godspell and Ghost The Musical, among many others.

The Tony Awards will take place on Sunday, June 10.
