Myke Towers Earns Second No. 1 on Billboard’s Tropical Airplay Chart with “La Capi”

Myke Towers is celebrating another tropical chart-topper…

The 30-year-old Puerto Rican rapper, singer and songwriter has earned his second No. 1 on Billboard’Tropical Airplay chart as “La Capi” rises 2-1 to lead the May 18-dated list.

Myke TowersIt’s the second ruler on the radio ranking for Towers, who first crowned the list with “Travesuras” in 2021. While Towers picks up his second No. 1 with his second entry, he’s notched 30 titles on the Latin Rhythm Airplay ranking, including 11 No. 1s.

“La Capi,” released November 23, is one of 23 songs on Towers’ LVEU: Vive La Tuya…No La Mía album, which debuted at No. 9 on Top Latin Albums (December 2023).

The song launched at No. 7 on Tropical Airplay in March and completes a steady climb to the summit in its eighth week, with 9.17 million audience impressions, up 49% on U.S. reporting radio stations during the May 3-9 tracking week, according to Luminate.

The song’s eight-week trek to the penthouse bests Towers’ preceding ruler: “Travesuras,” with Nio García, Casper Mágico, Ozuna, Wisin & Yandel, Towers and Flow La Movie, wrapped a 17-week journey to in March 2021.

With “La Capi” ascending to the summit on Tropical Airplay, Towers joins six other artists outside the genre who have secured a No. 1 through a collaboration or as soloists in the last year.

“La Capi” also rallies 11-3 on the overall Latin Airplay chart, and gives Towers his 13th top 10.

Beyond its radio popularity, “La Capi” debuts at No. 45 on Hot Latin Songs, the airplay-, digital- and streaming-combined chart, despite a 2% decline in streaming activity, which translates to 145,000 official U.S. streams logged during the same period. The song joins two other Tower tracks on the multi-metric tally, “Adivino,” with Bad Bunny, which drops 2-4, and “La Falda” dips 15-19.

Grupo Frontera & Shakira Reach No. 1 Simultaneously on Two Billboard Charts with “(Entre Paréntesis)”

Grupo Frontera is celebrating a double victory…

The Regional Mexican band’s collaboration with Shakira, “(Entre Paréntesis),” has reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay and Regional Mexican Airplay.

Grupo Frontera, Shakira“(Entre Paréntesis)” crowns both lists dated May 18.

The track is Shakira’s second regional Mexican pair-up, and her first to rule both charts simultaneously.

On Latin Airplay, “(Entre Paréntesis)” jumps 2-1 to top the overall Latin radio list despite a 3% dip in audience impressions, to 9.63 million, on U.S. reporting radio stations during the May 3-9 tracking week, according to Luminate.

With the ascension, Shakira adds her record-extending 23rd No. 1 on Latin Airplay among women in the chart’s almost 30-year history.

Grupo Frontera, meanwhile, captures its third champ, after “Bebe Dame,” with Fuerza Regida, for one week atop in 2023 and “Un X100to,” with Bad Bunny, with a six-week domination in 2023.

“(Entre Paréntesis)” is the ninth single off Shakira’s 12th studio album Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, released March 22. The set made a splash across Billboard’s charts, including a No. 1 start on Top Latin Albums and Latin Pop Albums, and a top 10 debut on Top Album Sales and Vinyl Albums charts (dated April 6).

“(Entre Paréntesis)” is the second regional Mexican song to concurrently top Latin Airplay and Regional Mexican Airplay. Previously, “Por El Contrario” by Becky G with siblings Leonardo and Angela Aguilar, topped both rankings for one week on the chart dated March 9.

Over on Regional Mexican Airplay, “(Paréntesis)” takes the lead (rising 2-1) with 7.32 million audience impressions, down 4% across regional Mexican stations. The move earns Shakira a first No. 1 on the tally, after “El Jefe,” with Fuerza Regida, took her to a No. 9 high in Nov. 2023.

The Edinburg, Texas band picks up its ninth No. 1, and enters a tie with Banda MS de Sergio Lizarraga and Grupo Firme for the third-most No. 1s this decade.

Grupo Frontera’s Christian Nodal-Collab “Ya Pedo Quien Sabe” Reaches No. 1 on Billboard‘s Regional Mexican Airplay Chart

Grupo Frontera has another chart-topping hit on their hands…

The Regional Mexican group’s first collaboration with Christian Nodal’s “Ya Pedo Quien Sabe” rises 3-1 on Billboard‘s Regional Mexican Airplay chart dated May 11.

All eight of Grupo Frontera’s leaders are collaborations.

The duet crowns Regional Mexican Airplay after a 17% gain in audience impressions, to 7.8 million, earned in the U.S. during the April 26-May 2 tracking week, according to Luminate.

“Ya Pedo Quien Sabe” was released on March 7 via the Grupo Frontera label.

The song is the second cut from Frontera’s forthcoming album, Jugando A Que No Pada Nada (slated for May 10 release).

Ya Pedo Quien Sabe” was composed by Edgar Barrera, Horacio Palencia, Nathan Galante and Diego Bollella and produced by Barrera.

As the dynamo collaboration takes the lead on Regional Mexican Airplay, it becomes the fourth team-up by a group and a soloist in 2024 to top the list. Here’s the recap:

With “Ya Pedo Quien Sabe,” Nodal extends his record for the most No. 1s among soloists, with 17 champs in his account since the chart’s inception in November 1994. Plus, he enters a tie with La Arrolladora Banda el Limón de René Camacho for the fifth-most rulers in the Regional Mexican Airplay’s chart’s nearly 30-year history. They trail Calibre 50 who remains at the lead, way ahead of its next competitor, with 25 No. 1s, Banda MS de Sergio Lizárraga with 20, Intocable (19) and Banda El Recodo de Cruz Lizárraga (18).

Grupo Frontera picks-up its eighth No. 1; a collection that began a little over a year ago, when “Que Vuelvas,” with Carín León, topped the Regional Mexican radio ranking for six weeks starting the Jan. 28, 2023-dated list.

Further, “Ya Pedo Quien Sabe” takes the crown from Calibre 50’s “Días Buenos, Días Malos” after the latter’s one week in charge. The song drops to No. 14, marking the biggest fall from No. 1 since Los Temerarios’ “Sin Que Lo Sepas Tú” equally tumbled 1-14 in 2007.

With the Regional Mexican Airplay locked, “Ya Pedo Quien Sabe” next looks to give each act a new No. 1 on the overall Latin Airplay chart, where it climbs 10-5 with a 16% gain, and adds 8 million in audience.

Prince Royce & Gabito Ballesteros’ “Cosas de la Peda” Rises to No. 1 on Billbaord’s Latin Airplay Chart

Prince Royce and Gabito Ballesteros are celebrating the success of their collaboration on a second Billboard chart…

Ten weeks after the 34-year-old Dominican American bachata star and the 24-year-old Mexican singer-songwriter and record producer monopolized Billboard’s Tropical Airplay chart with “Cosas de la Peda,” the song slides to the top of the overall Latin Airplay chart dated April 27, up from No. 3 a week ago.

Prince Royce & Gabito Ballesteros The hit is the seventh single from Royce’s album, Llamada Perdida, the 23-track set that placed the bachata singer back in the top five on Tropical Albums after a four-year pause (No. 2 debut in March).

“Cosas De La Peda” shoots to No. 1 on the overall Latin Airplay chart due to a 27% boost in audience impressions, to 10.9 million, logged in the U.S. in the week ending April 18, according to Luminate. With almost 2 million additional impressions, the song wins the weekly Greatest Gainer award on the Latin radio ranking for the largest increase in audience among its 50 titles.

Further, thanks to its radio surge, “Cosas De La Peda” debuts at No. 46 on the multi-metric Hot Latin Songs, which ranks the most popular Latin songs of the week by blending streaming, airplay, and sales activity.

Royce and Ballesteros’ first team-up gives the regional Mexican soloist his maiden No. 1 on Latin Airplay. The new achievement arrives 10 weeks after he picked up his first champ on any Billboard radio ranking, as “Cosas de la Peda” rose to the top of Tropical Airplay on the February 24-dated list, where it has held strong since.

“Cosas de la Peda” is a cause for celebration for Ballesteros, who joins a select group of regional Mexican artists who likewise achieved their premiere No. 1 on Latin Airplay in 2024 among the seven rulers this year including a regional Mexican act (whether through a regional Mexican song or a collab outside the genre). Those new highfliers comprise Xavi, whose “La Diabla” led for two weeks (starting with the February 10-dated list) and siblings Leonardo and Angela Aguilar through their Becky G collab, “Por El Contrario,” for one week atop (March 9).

Prince Royce moves ahead with 17 No. 1s on Latin Airplay and breaks from a tie with Carlos Vives for the second-most champs among tropical artists in the survey’s almost 30-year history, where Romeo Santos continues at the lead with 21 No. 1 hits.

In its 10th consecutive week atop Tropical Airplay, “Cosas de la Peda” continues to hold the record for the longest-leading song in 2024 thus far.

Enrique Iglesias Releases “Final, Vol. 2,” The Last Musical Set of His Career

It’s a final bow for Enrique Iglesias.

The 48-year-old Spanish singer and songwriter has released his new studio album Final, Vol. 2 via Sony Music Latin—almost three years after dropping Final, Vol. 1.

Comprised of 10 tracks, Final, Vol. 2 finds Iglesias navigating from his signature electronic dance and Latin pop fusions to other genres including bachata (“Así Es La Vida” featuring Maria Becerra), dembow (“La Botella” featuring El Alfa), country (“Space in my Heart” featuring Miranda Lambert), and cumbia (“Llórame Un Río featuring Belinda). His collaboration with Lambert is also available in Spanish with only Iglesias performing it called “Espacio En Tu Corazón.”

In addition to “Space in my Heart,” two other songs on the set are in English: “Love and Pain” and “Be Together”—further stamping the Spanish crooner’s global connection to his fans.

His sensual bachata with Becerra reached No. 1 on the Billboard Tropical Airplay chart for eight weeks, starting the December 9, 2023-dated chart, and it reached a No. 12 high on Latin Airplay chart (December 16).

Final, Vol. 2 follows Final, Vol. 1 (2021), his first album in seven years after Sex & Love and that includes hits such as the Nicky Jam-assisted “El Perdón,” “Duele el Corazón” with Wisin, “Súbeme la Radio” with Descemer Bueno and Zion y Lennox, and the Bad Bunny-assisted “El Baño.”

Final (Vol. 1) debuted and peaked at No. 12 on Top Latin Albums and at No. 2 on Latin Pop Albums (charts dated Oct. 10, 2021).

Ozuna Earns 34th No. 1 on Billboard Latin Airplay Chart with “Baccarat”

Ozuna is shuffling his way to the top of the charts…

The 32-year-old Puerto Rican singer has notched his 34th No. 1 on the Billboard Latin Airplay chart as “Baccarat” climbs 6-1 on the list dated March 30.

Ozuna“Baccarat” leads the way on the 50-deep tally as the Greatest Gainer of the week due to a 26% increase in audience impressions, to 9.2 million, earned during the March 15-21 tracking week, according to Luminate.

Among “Baccarat’s” biggest supporters during the tracking week, New York’s WSKQ (1.4 million) and WXNY (1.2 million) steer the ship, with KXOL in Los Angeles (1.1 million), coming in on second place.

As the Chris Jedi and Gaby Music-produced tune rises to No. 1 on Latin Airplay, Ozuna captures his 34th champ on the overall radio ranking, still the second-most leaders since the chart launched in 1994.

“Baccarat” is one of the 15 tracks from Ozuna’s sixth-studio album, Cosmos (his seventh top 10 on Top Latin Albums), which reached No. 9 high last December.

The song concurrently grants Ozuna his eighth champ on Latin Airplay as a soloist, unaccompanied by any other act, and first since “Deprimida” reached No. 1 in June 2022, for one week in charge.

Karol G & Peso Pluma’s “Qlona” Rises to No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay Chart

Karol G and Peso Pluma’s smash collaboration is back atop the charts…

Five months after the 33-year-old Colombian Grammy-winning singer and 24-year-old Mexican Grammy-winning singer’s “Qlona” concluded its fifth week at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart, the collaboration rises 2-1 to lead the Latin Airplay chart dated March 2.

Karol G & Peso Pluma“Qlona” lands at the summit with a 17% gain in audience impressions, to 9.54 million, earned in the U.S. in the week ending February 22, according to Luminate.

It ousts Myke Towers’ “La Falda” from the top after one week in charge, dropping 1-2 with a 10% dip in impressions, to 9.5 million.

As “Qlona” reaches the summit in its 23rd week on the list, it wraps the longest journey to the top spot this decade, passing the 22-week trek that two Towers’ songs needed to their reign in 2020: “Bandido,” with Juhn, and “Bésame,” with Luis Fonsi. (The last song to take longer to reach No. 1 was Pedro Capo and Farruko’s “Calma,” which hit the top in its 24th week, on the April 13, 2019 chart.)

With “Qlona” on top, Karol logs the 17th No. 1 in her Latin Airplay career. The new champ arrives five months after her own “Mi Ex Tenía Razón” reigned for two weeks last October.

Peso Pluma, meanwhile, picks up his third, after “Ella Baila Sola,” with Eslabon Armado, ruled for one week last June.

Elsewhere, “Qlona” wins a first term at No. 1 on Latin Rhythm Airplay, marking a 16th win for Karol. It’s the second Latin rhythmic crown for Pluma, after the four-week champ “La Bebe,” with Yng Lvcas, in 2023.

Thanks to its radio haul, “Qlona” rebounds 5-4 on the multimetric Hot Latin Songs chart — which blends airplay, streaming activity, and digital sales — after five weeks in charge.

Myke Towers Earns 11th No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay Chart with “La Falda”

Myke Towers has skirted his way to the top of the charts…

The 30-year-old Puerto Rican rapper, singer and songwriter has pounced to No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart as “La Falda” rises from No. 5 to lead the list dated February 24.

Myke TowersThe song, announced on Towers’ X account in November, is the focus track from his 23-song album LVEU: Vive La Tuya… No La Mía, which debuted and peaked at No. 9 on Top Latin Albums on the December 9-dated list.

With the new leader, Towers collects his 11th Latin Airplay No. 1 and second in 2024, after the Yandel collab, “Borracho y Loco” (February 17 chart).

“La Falda” likewise ascends to No. 1 on Latin Rhythm Airplay, securing Towers an 11th champ there as well.

For the tracking week February 9-15, “La Falda” registered 10.54 million audience impressions in the U.S., up 47% from the week prior, according to Luminate, and takes the Greatest Gainer honors.

Towers’ run of Latin Airplay No. 1s began just a little more than three years ago, when “Caramelo,” with Ozuna and Karol G, peaked at No. 1 in late 2020, where it remained for three weeks.

“La Falda” rises to new peaks on both Global charts as well. It lifts 85-75 on Billboard Global 200, powered largely by with 24 million worldwide streams. Meanwhile, it pushes 56-47 on Global Excl. U.S. supported in great part by 20 million clicks outside the U.S.

Yandel & Myke Towers’ “Borracho y Loco” Rises to No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay Chart

Yandel is back on top…

The 47-year-old Puerto Rican singer and songwriter and the half-member of the reggaeton duo Wisin & Yandel and Myke Towers have notched another No. 1 on Billboard’Latin Airplay chart as “Borracho y Loco” crowns the list dated February 17.

Yandel & Myke TowersIt’s the first collaboration by two Latin rhythm acts to top the chart in 2024.

Yandel and Towers’ track advances from the runner-up slot with 10.3 million audience impressions earned in the U.S. in the week ending February 8 (up 18%), according to Luminate.

It sends last week’s No. 1, Xavi’s “La Diabla” down to No. 7 after one week in charge. The latter declined 26% to 7.1 million in audience.

“The truth is that it makes me very happy that with so many years making music my songs still reach the first places and top lists in the United States and other parts of the world,” Yandel told Billboard.

As “Borracho y Loco” lands at the summit, it becomes the pair’s second No. 1 team-up. The Puerto Ricans last ruled the overall Latin Airplay ranking through a Nio Garcia, Casper Mágico, Ozuna, Wisin and Flow La Movie collab, when “Travesuras” topped the tally for one-week in 2021.

With “Borracho y Loco” Yandel scores his 16th champ on Latin Airplay. Further, he ties with Nicky Jam for the seventh-most No. 1s among male urban artists since the tally launched in 1994.

For Towers, the rapper and singer-songwriter lands his 10th No. 1 with his 31st chart appearance. He last topped the chart with the viral TikTok hit “Lala,” which spent two weeks at No. 1 in September 2023.

“Borracho y Loco” takes over Latin Airplay in its 18th week, marking the second-longest climb to the top for both artists. Previously, Yandel placed three songs at the summit each one in its 20th week, including two featured roles: through Maluma’s “El Perdedor,” and in IAmChino’s “Ay Dios Miío,” which also featured Pitbull and Chacal, and with “Nunca Me Olvides,” all in 2016.

Tower’s, meanwhile, secured two songs at No. 1 in 22 weeks each: “Bandido” with Juhn, and “Bésame,” with Luis Fonsi, in June and Nov. 2021, respectively.

Xavi Earns First No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay Chart with “La Diabla”

It’s a devilish first for Xavi

The 19-year-old Mexican American Regional Mexican singer-songwriter and breakout star, who recently announced his first tour of the U.S., has earned his first No. 1 on Billboard’Latin Airplay chart dated February 10 with his sophomore hit “La Diabla.”

XaviThe track races 17-1 on The chart, giving the Mexican-American singer-songwriter his first champ on a radio ranking.

The romantic corrido, released via Interscope, tops the overall Latin Airplay list with 9.6 million audience impressions, up 89%, earned in the U.S. in the week ending Feb. 1, according to Luminate.

Notably, it’s the first No. 1 by a regional Mexican artist on Interscope. The label was last on top with another song in the genre, Karol G’s “Mi Ex Tenia Razon” for two nonconsecutive weeks last October and November.

“’La Diabla’ has topped so many charts that it’s been hard to keep up, but this one is particularly special,” Manny Prado, VP of Marketing and A&R, Interscope Geffen A&M tells Billboard. “The fact that radio has embraced Xavi’s innovative sound is a significant statement and validates that he is successfully pushing the boundaries of Mexican music.”

Xavi’s radio success follows the song’s domination on both Hot Latin Songs and Latin Streaming Songs.

On the multi-metric tally, “La Diabla” spends a fifth nonconsecutive week at the summit, powered largely by 15.4 million streams during the same period. That’s enough to hold its No. 1 spot for a fourth week on Latin Streaming Songs and its No. 9 ranking on the overall Streaming Songs for a second week.

Back on Latin Airplay, “La Diabla” ejects another regional Mexican track from the lead: Fuerza Regida and Marshmello’s “Harley Quinn” falls to No. 3 after one week in charge with 8.2 million, down 9%.

Beyond its Latin Airplay domination, “La Diabla” surges 8-1 on Regional Mexican Airplay for its first week atop the 40-deep song tally; also, a first champ there for the Phoenix-born artist. Sales too, contribute to the song’s rise across Billboard charts: “La Diabla” sold 1,000 downloads for a No. 2 on Latin Digital Sales for a third week (topped the list for one week on the Jan. 20-dated survey).

Elsewhere, “La Diabla” remains steady at No. 4 on the Billboard Global 200 chart for a fourth week after its No. 3 peak in January. Plus, it remains at No. 3 for a third week on Global Excl. U.S. following its No. 2 high also in January.

Thanks to its gain in all metrics (streaming, sales, and radio), Xavi holds strong at its at No. 33 peak on the Billboard Artist 100 for a second week, which measures artist activity across key metrics of music consumption- album and track sales, radio airplay and streaming – to provide a weekly multi-dimensional ranking of artist popularity.
