Jacqueline Bracamontes Returning to Host 2nd Annual Billboard Latin Women in Music Special

The 44-year-old Mexican actress, former model and beauty pageant titleholder and television personality will host the Billboard Latin Women in Music special, which is scheduled to return for its second edition on June 9 at 9:00 p.m. ET via Telemundo.

Jacqueline BracamontesHailing from Billboard and Telemundo, the two-hour music special will celebrate “Latin female artists proactively working for positive change, inclusion, and gender parity in the music industry,” as noted in the press release.

Bracamontes will return as host for a second time.

Produced at Telemundo Center in Miami, the event captures the essence of Latin culture through dynamic musical showcases and special acknowledgments from leading Latin female artists. It will also be available for simultaneous streaming on the Telemundo app and Peacock.

The recipients of this year’s honors will be revealed at a later time.

Bracamontes holds a prominent position in Latin American television.

She has anchored Telemundo’s broadcasts of prestigious events such as Miss Universe, the Billboard Latin Music Awards and the Latin American Music Awards.

Additionally, she has helmed programs like the dance competition Así se Baila and starred in the popular primetime series La Suerte de Loli.

Furthermore, Bracamontes joined the U.S. Hispanic network as the host of Viva el Mundial y Más, a sports and entertainment show that aired during the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia, and co-hosted two seasons of the hit music competition La Voz (The Voice).

At last year’s Latin Women in Music event, honors were granted to those who’ve made significant contributions to Latin music and its industry. The recipients included included Shakira as Woman of the Year, Ana Gabriel as Living Legend, Thalia as Global Powerhouse, Maria Becerra as Visionary, Emilia as Rising Star, Evaluna as Tradition and Future and Goyo as Agent of Change.

The 22-year-old Mexican singer is preparing to unveil his first-ever collaboration with his love, Belinda.

The Regional Mexican star and renowned pop songstress are behind the theme song of Univision’s upcoming telenovela Si Nos Dejan, bringing to life a new version of José Alfredo Jiménez’s mariachi-bolero classic of the same name.

The lovebirds met in 2020 on the set of TV Azteca‘s La Voz and even sealed their relationship with matching tattoos. “Si Nos Dejan” is their first collaborative effort.

Luis Fonsi to Serve as Kelly Clarkson’s Team Advisor on Season 20 of NBC’s “The Voice”

The 42-year-old Puerto Rican singer will join Kelly Clarkson as her team advisor on season 20 of NBC’s The Voice.

Fonsi, who has been a coach on Telemundo‘s La Voz since 2018 — the network’s Spanish-language version of the singing competition series — is a “natural at giving constructive criticism.”

“It means a lot to them,” Clarkson told Extra. “I’ve been them, and it means a lot when people actually take the time to invest in your performance.”

“Getting to work with Kelly truly is an honor,” said Fonsi of Clarkson. “I’m a fan … I’ve been doing this for 22 years and you meet talented people every day, but to meet a normal talented person? Somebody who is kind-hearted — it is so refreshing. ‘Oh, wait, you are famous, talented and nice … What?’”

In 2019, Fonsi made a surprise appearance on The Voice to promote the second season of Telemundo’s La Voz. There he found a new fan, Kelly Clarkson, who asked for a Spanish lesson. The “Despacito” singer told her to repeat: Mi nombre es Kelly Clarkson y soy una mujer hermosa (My name is Kelly Clarkson and I’m a pretty woman).

Season 20 of The Voice kicks off March 1 with returning judges Clarkson, Nick JonasJohn Legend and Blake Shelton.

Alejandra Guzman to Star on Season 2 of Pantaya’s Spanish-Language Series “El Juego de Las Llaves”

The 52-year-old Mexican Latin Grammy-winning singer/songwriter and actress has joined the Season 2 cast of Pantaya’s hit Spanish-language scripted series El Juego de Las Llaves.

Guzman joins a roster of cast newcomers that includes Laura Leon and Cristián de la Fuente.

Also joining the ensemble cast are Barbara Lopez, Michelle Rodriguez and Gustavo Egelhaaf.

El Juego de las Llaves streams on Pantaya, a Lionsgate and Hemisphere Media Group joint venture, in the U.S. and Puerto Rico and internationally via Amazon Prime Video.

El Juego de las Llaves is a provocative half-hour Spanish-language scripted series that follows four long-lasting couples and friends who decide to swing, and are left to face the impact of their decisions in the comedic aftermath.

The all-star cast includes Maite Perroni, Sebastián Zurita, Marimar Vega, Horacio Pancheri, Humberto Busto, Hugo Catalan, Ela Velden and Fabiola Campomanes.

Guzman, known for her television role in Una familia con suerte, most recently served as a coach on La Voz… Mexico and La Voz in the U.S., the Spanish-language versions of the singing competition The Voice.

Leon has appeared in telenovela hits like Dos mujeres un camino, El premio mayor and Mujeres engañadas, whose theme songs she also sang and have become classics of Latinx pop culture.

de la Fuente has had leading roles in Amor bravio, Quiero amarte and Sueño de amor. He has also appeared in a number of English-language film and television series including In Plain Sight, Driven, Basic and CSI: Miami.

El Juego de Las Llaves was created by Marisa Quiroga and developed by Patrick McGinley, Veronica Bellver and Corazon FilmsSandro Halphen, alongside Amazon Prime Video and Pantaya.

Directors on season 2 include Kenya Marquez, Javier Colinas and Roberto Fiesco.

The series is produced by Pantaya and Corazón Films.

Sammy Colon Named the Winner of Telemundo’s “La Voz”

The 32-year-old Puerto Rican singer has been crowned the winner of the second season of Telemundo’s La Voz.

Colon, a member of Carlos Vives’ team, not only won the highly coveted trophy. He also takes home a $200,000 cash prize and a recording contract with Universal Music Group.

After Telemundo paused production on the show due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the grand finale, which aired Sunday night, comes less than a month after the network resumed the show with coaches Alejandra Guzmán, Vives, Luis Fonsi and Wisin, and the remaining 28 contestants to kick-off “Los Enfrentamientos” or Cross Battles.

Ultimately nabbing the most audience votes, Colon takes the title, followed by finalists Jose Class (Team Fonsi), Sugeily Cardona (Team Guzman), and Andrea Serrano (Team Wisin).

“Thank you to everyone who voted at home,” Vives said during the show. “Sammy is very deserving of this title. Thank you for believing in this boricua.”

Colon dedicated his win to all the 80-plus contestants who formed part of the competition.

Colon is the second winner of La Voz U.S., following the winning voice Jeidimar Rijos of Team Fonsi on the inaugural season in 2019. Colon also became the second Puerto Rican to win the competition.

Wisin Launches Own Record Label, La Base Music

Wisin is set to help new Latin artists… 

The 41-year-old Puerto Rican reggaeton rapper, singer and record producer, one half of the Wisin & Yandel, has launched his own record label, La Base Music, in an effort to support up-and-coming Latin talent.

Wisin says he was inspired to become a resource for young talent and help foster their careers following his stints as a coach on reality television shows La Voz and La Banda.

“There is so much talent out on the streets and there are artists who don’t have the tools to achieve great things or don’t have any direction in their career,” says Wisin. “It was just a matter of time for me to do something like this and I have been working on creating a top-level studio that can compete with any other studio around the world.”

Headquartered in Wisin’s native Puerto Rico, La Base Music launches with new signees Chris Andrew and Abdiel Larralde, who will soon release new music under the label.

“Our new artists have potential and the hunger to grow,” adds Wisin. “That’s the most important thing for us here at La Base. Attitude is everything. I’m looking for people who want to grow but also listen. We are here with the intention of making good music. And it’s not just new artists we are collaborating with. We actually just finished Ozuna‘salbum at La Base and we’re almost done with Wisin & Yandel’sforthcoming album.”

La Base Music’s resident engineer and award-winning producers include Hyde Quimico and Los Legendarios who have worked with Latin superstars like Daddy Yankee, Ozuna and Reik.

Although La Base Music will be distributed by The Orchard via WK RecordsWalter Kolm‘s recently-launched imprint (Kolm’s WK Entertainment manages Wisin), all artistic decisions will be taken independently.

“All the decisions and everything that has to do with our artists, I will be in charge of that,” Wisin explains.

Wisin says he doesn’t take this new venture lightly as it comes with great responsibility. “I’m grateful that life has given me the opportunity to become a resource for artists who maybe in three or four years will be great musicians. It’s very fulfilling and it makes me proud that I can still contribute to music in that way.

Carlos Vives Added to Coaching Lineup of Telemundo’s “La Voz”

The 57-year-old Colombian singer, songwriter and actorhas been confirmed as the fourth superstar to join the coaching lineup for Telemundo’s La Voz.

Vives, a legend of vallenato music, completes the panel of coaches that includes Luis Fonsi, Alejandra Guzmánand Wisin.

“I feel very proud to be part of this first season accompanied by great friends and colleagues,” said Vives. “Together we will go in search of that unique voice that will captivate the audience across the United States and Puerto Rico, with the hope that this great voice will be born in Team Vives.”

The show will premiere at the beginning of 2019.

Wisin to Serve as Coach on Telemundo’s “La Voz”

Wisin is ready to find and coach the next big Latin music voice…

The 39-year-old Puerto Rican reggaeton superstar, whose real name is Juan Luis Morera Luna, has been confirmed as the third coach of Telemundo‘s La Voz, according to Billboard.

In addition to being a singer, Wisin produces his own music, is part of the duo Wisin y Yandel and was also in charge of CNCO‘s first album, Primera Cita.

He has also co-produced forJenniferLopezChayanneOzuna and more.

“I’m more than ready to start this new adventure and have the challenge of finding that voice,” Wisin said in a statement.

Wisin now joins Luis Fonsi and Alejandra Guzman as coaches for the first season of the reality show, which is currently in the auditions phase.

La Voz will visit three more cities: Chicago (July 14), San Antonio (July 21) and Miami (July 28).

The 50-year-old Mexican rockerahas been confirmed as a coach for the first season of La Voz, according to Telemundo.

Guzman, who has sold over 20 million albums throughout her career, joinsLuis Fonsiand two more coaches, who are yet to be announced.

“It is a great honor to be a Coach of this prestigious singing competition that will allow us to witness the discovery of La Voz,” Guzman said in a statement. “I’m ready to win!”

Rubio to Serve as a Coach on Telemundo’s “La Voz Kids”

Paulina Rubio will be coaching the next generation of singing superstars…

The 41-year-old Mexican singer, who began her own singing career at the age of 10 as a member of the popular children’s pop group Timbiriche, will serve as a coach for Telemundo’s Spanish-language, pint-sized version of The Voice, La Voz Kids.

In the competition, children ranging in age from 7 to 14 will compete to win the prize for best voice under the direction of three music coaches.

Rubio, who has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide, is the first artist to join the program’s lineup. The network says two other celebrities will be announced as coaches soon.

Telemundo’s vice president of development and content, Daniel Cubillo, recalled Rubio’s early beginnings Timbiriche, saying it puts her “in a very special position to share with kids what she experienced on her way to making her dreams come true.”

For her part, La Chica Dorada who coached Mexico’s edition La Voz with the late Jenni Rivera and Spanish singer Miguel Bosé, said she’s “very excited” about the project that will open the doors to a new generation of singers.

La Voz Kids, which is part of NBC’s successful The Voice franchise, will premiere next spring.
