Becky G Showcases Italian Singing Skills on Remix of “Bella Ciao,” the Unofficial Theme Song of Netflix’s “Money Heist”

Becky G is switching tongues yet again…

The 24-year-old Mexican American singer/rapper, who sings in English and Spanish, has given the theme song to Netflix’s series Money Heist her own twist.

Becky G

Bella Ciao” is an Italian protest folk song from the late 19th century, and the song’s connection to the Spanish heist series (originally titled La Casa de Papel) is because “’the Professor’s whole life revolved around one idea… resistance,” according to an official statement.

In a new extended version, released under Kemosabe/RCA Records, Becky G not only gives the song an uptempo reggaeton beat, but also flaunts her Italian singing skills.

“I have always loved La Casa de Papel and the way this show connected with millions of people across the world,” she said. “’Bella Ciao’ is an iconic song and marks an important moment in the series, so being asked to reimagine it and be a part of the Casa de Papel world is truly an honor. From recording the song to shooting the video, I hope everyone enjoys this cover as much as I do!”

“Bella Ciao” premiered Wednesday alongside a music video, directed by Megan Gamez, which pays tribute to the red jumpsuit, mask and bars of gold from the Bank of Spain, seen on the series.

The show’s finale (part 5, volume 2) will premiere globally Friday on Netflix.

Netflix to Release Final Season of Úrsula Corberó’s “La Casa De Papel” in Two Volumes

Úrsula Corberó’s last heist will be split in two…

Úrsula Corberó

The first part will launch on September 3, and the second on December 3, according to the streamer.

“When we began to write Part 5 in the midst of the pandemic, we felt that we had to change what was expected from the 10-episode season and used every tool we could to create the sensation of a season finale or series finale in the first volume itself,” said Álex Pina, the series creator. “We decided to work in an extremely aggressive genre, putting The Gang on the ropes.

“In Volume 2, we focus more on the emotional situation of the characters. It is a journey across their sentimental map that connects us directly to their departure.”

According to the Netflix official synopsis, the gang has been shut in the Bank of Spain for over 100 hours. They have managed to rescue Lisbon, but their darkest moment is upon them after losing one of their own. The Professor has been captured by Sierra and, for the first time, doesn’t have an escape plan. Nuria Roca to Appear in TNT’s Spanish Original Docu Series “Road Trip” with Esty Quesada

Nuria Rocais hittin’ the highway…

TNT is hitting the highways and byways of the United States in its latest Spanish original series,“Road Trip,” featuring the 47-year-old Spanish   writer, TV presenter and actress.

Nuria Roca

Produced by Atresmedia Studios, the factual show will accompany Roca and Esty Quesada as odd-couple celebrities on a car trip that begins in Miami, where Roca, a popular TV host, and Quesada, who rose to fame with her provocative YouTubeshow Soy una pringada, will first get to know each other. As they set off to explore the U.S., they will share their views of the people and places they encounter and their own personal journeys of self-exploration.

“I don’t know Esty, I don’t know this kind of format, I don’t know Miami, I don’t know the East Coast of the U.S.,” Roca said. “I’m dying to embark on this story and see where it takes me. It’s a great opportunity for the viewer to see us as we are, without a script, in a borderline situation. Not only will it be a road trip, I am convinced that it will be an intense emotional journey.”

Quesada, who enjoys a large online following and popularity among younger viewers, likened the show to a “Thelma and Louise” adventure, adding that it would be an exciting and emotional journey in which the two stars “will soak up the Yankeeessence.”

Road Trip, which is set to begin shooting in the coming days, follows TNT’s hit political comedy Vote For Juan, starring Javier Cámara, which launched earlier this year and likewise features Quesada.

“It is a format that has a lot of adventure and that is precisely what makes it so attractive,” said Guillermo Farré, TNT’s director of content. “At TNT we like to explore new territories,” he added, noting that TNT did precisely that with Vote For Juanand would continue to do so in upcoming original productions currently in development.

“In Road Tripit’s a luxury to have both Nuria Roca and Esty Quesada as they each, in their own way, reflect very well the spirit of our brand,” Farré said.

Road Trip, which will comprise five episodes, is set to premiere on TNT in early 2020. It marks the latest production and second factual series from the rapidly building Atresmedia Studios, launched by Spanish broadcast network Atresmedia, which produced the original La Casa de Papel, to create and sell content for third-party platforms and operators. Its latest scripted show, period romantic drama La Templanza, a Prime Original series for Amazon Prime Video, marks one of the biggest of upcoming series from Spain.

France’s TF1 Acquires Alex Pina’s Romantic Thriller “The Pier”

Alex Pina’s latest project is feeling the love…

France’s TF1 has acquired the Spanish television producer’s Movistar + Original The Pier, sold by Beta Film, and produced with Atresmedia Studios.

Alex Pina

Also produced by Pina and Esther Martínez Lobato’s Vancouver Media, The Pier marks the showrunner duo’s follow-up to La Casa de Papel (Money Heist), declared by Netflix to be its most watched non English-language series ever.

Alvaro Morte, the professor inLa Casa de Papel plays the male lead. Capturing a near futuristic Valencia, and the nearby Albufera National Park, an expanse of marshland and rice paddy fields, where time seems to move at another race, Pina has commented, the cinematography looks stunning.

In other ways, this is a departure, a sensual romantic thriller in which an accomplished architect (Verónica Sánchez) is confronted with the alleged suicide of her husband. Investigating on her own, she discovers the secret double-life he had led with another woman (Irene Arcos) and also her own unsuspected new depths and desires.

The main cast, co-director Jesús Colmenar and the producers will be present when The Piercelebrates its red carpet world premiere at Mipcom on Tuesday, October 16, at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes.

“As a leading channel, TF1’s role is to create events and to work with the best talents and partners. The Pierand the work of Alex Pina meet our requirements,” said Fabrice Bailly, head of program and acquisitions, TF1 Group, who added: “After the excellent performances of ‘Good Doctor’ and ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ on our channels this year, we are sure that ‘The Pier’ will add to our success.”

Pina and Martínez’s stylish, innovative and morally ambiguous money mint robbery thriller La Casa de Papelwas a huge hit in France. In its take on modern sexual relations, The Pieris likely to maintain their envelope-pushing on traditional morality.

The Pieris a woman’s drama, Martinez has said, where “women behave as women.”
