Adrian Martinez has 37 reasons to smile…
The Latino actor, who has been hailed as “the sidekick to the stars,” has joined the ensemble cast of 37, a film inspired by the horrific 1964 murder of Kitty Genovese and a group of neighbors who witnessed the attack and did nothing as she screamed for help.
Written and directed by first-time filmmaker Puk Grasten, 37 stars Martinez, Samira Wiley, Michael Potts, Christina Brucato, Jamie Harrold, Maria Dizzia, Evan Fine, Thomas Kopache, Sophia Lillis and Lucy Martin.
37 examines the lives of a group of families living in the Kew Gardens area of Queens, New York in the 1960s who witness the murder of 28-year-old Genovese (Brucato) and do nothing to intervene. 37 is an expansion on the short film by Grasten, which premiered at the 2013 Slamdance Film Festival.
Martinez, who most recently starred as Will Smith‘s sidekick in Warner Bros.’ Focus, has appeared in Piranha 3DD, Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close and Kick-Ass.
