The 20-year-old Mexican and Cuban singer and former Fifth Harmony member cruises to her first No. 1 on Billboard‘s Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart dated December 23, as “Havana” climbs 2-1.
As a soloist, Cabello had hit a previous No. 3 high on the Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart with “Bad Things,” with Machine Gun Kelly, in February.
As a member of Fifth Harmony, which she left nearly a year ago, she hit a No. 5 best with the group’s “Worth It,” featuring Kid Ink, in 2015.
Cabello’s smash single had previously hit No 1. on Billboard’s Pop Songs chart.
It’s a special accomplishment for Camila Cabello, Ally Brooke Hernandez and Lauren Jauregui…
The Latina singers and their fellow Fifth Harmony members have earned their first No. 1 on a Billboard airplay chart as the all-girl group’s “Work From Home,” featuring Ty Dolla $ign, moves up 2-1 on the Rhythmic Songs chart.
The song breaks a 15-year drought for girl groups atop the list. Not since Destiny’s Child crowned the list in 2001 with “Survivor” has a girl group reached the chart’s top spot.
Fifth Harmony becomes the 12th female group overall to top the chart, which was launched on October 3, 1992.
“Work From Home” reaches the top in its 10th charting frame, rising 18 percent in spins in the week ending May 8, according to Nieslen Music. The act had previously charted on Rhythmic Songs with “Worth It,” featuring Kid Ink, peaking at No. 19 in August, 2015.
The climb bumps rapper Bellyfrom a three-week topping run with “Might Not.”
Between 1992 and 2001, these all-female groups led the chart with 21 total songs. Here are the 12 acts that have topped Rhythmic Songs (by number of No. 1s, then alphabetical):
On the Billboard Hot 100 chart, Fifth Harmony scores its first top 5 as “Work From Home” hops 7-5, besting their previous No. 6 peak. An 8 percent climb at radio, to 10.5 million audience impressions, according to Nielsen Music, aids in the climb while 15.9 million weekly U.S. streams, through the week ending May 5, also contribute to the ranking.
“Work From Home” becomes the first top five Hot 100 hit by a girl group since Dixie Chicks‘ country hit “Not Ready to Make Nice” (No. 4) in 2007; the latter act offered its approval upon learning the stat, tweeting a hearty, “Congrats ladies!”
“Work From Home” is the first Hot 100 top five by a pop girl group since the Pussycat Dolls‘ “Buttons,” featuring Snoop Dogg (No. 3), in 2006.
Ally Brooke Hernandez, Camila Cabello and Lauren Jauregui have worked their way to a special milestone.
The Latina singers and their fellow Fifth Harmony bandmates have achieved their first top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with “Work From Home,” featuring Ty Dolla $ign.
The song, the debut single from the all-girl group’s upcoming album 7/27, moved up 12-10 on the chart dated April 16
With the advance, the quintet passes its prior best rank, first set when “Worth It,” featuring Kid Ink, reached No. 12 last August.
The group’s new single jumps 6-4 on Digital Songs (89,000, up 34 percent); 8-5 on Streaming Songs (14.4 million, up 20 percent); and 22-17 on Radio Songs (49 million, up 22 percent). The track, already a No. 1 on the Billboard + Twitter Trending 140, previews 5H‘s upcoming album 7/27, a nod to the date (in 2012) that the act formed on Fox’s The X Factor. The set arrives May 20 and follows the group’s debut full-length, 2015’s Reflection.
“Work From Home” additionally flies the flag for girl groups, becoming the first Hot 100 top 10 by a girl group this decade. The last such hit? The Pussycat Dolls‘ “When I Grow Up,” which became the act’s fourth and final top 10, reaching No. 9 back in July-August 2008.
Camila Cabello, Lauren Jauregui and Ally Brooke Hernandez are apparently making new music…
The Latina singers and their fellow Fifth Harmony members are heading back to the studio.
“We’re about to start recording our new album the day after tomorrow,” Cabello revealed to Billboard backstage at the iHeartRadio Music Festival 2015 over the weekend.
“We’ve heard some of the demos and we’re really, really excited about some of them,” Cabello said about their sophomore album, which will follow up their debut, Reflection.
“They’re really, really cool. I heard one the other day that I was like, that was probably my favorite song that we’re gonna record.”
The group will begin recording in Los Angeles.
Fifth Harmony is still making strides with Reflection’s third single, “Worth It,” featuring Kid Ink, which has peaked at No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Though the song’s bouncy appeal is clear, Cabello credits their Harmonizers with making it a success.
“I think it was really the fans that propelled that song,” said Cabello. “They requested it on the radio stations and they were so driven for us to have a successful song on the radio. We have a really, really passionate core group fanbase and I think they just worked that. They were just on it.”
Ally Brooke Hernandez, Camila Cabello and Lauren Jauregui have joined the One Million Club…
The Latina singers and their fellow Fifth Harmony mates’ latest single, “Worth It,” is the group’s first single to sell more than 1 million downloads. Since its release in March, the single has sold 1.2 million digital copies to date, according to Nielsen Music.
“Worth It,” Fifth Harmony’s third single from debut album Reflection, has continued to perform well on the Billboard Hot 100 after becoming the group’s first Top 20 hit earlier this year. The Kid Ink-assisted track stays at its No. 14 peak on the chart this week. And the girls tell Billboard they’re elated — and more than a little shocked — that the song has taken off.
“With ‘Worth It,’ we were really surprised,” 5H’s Normani Kordei tells Billboard. “We love the song, but we were kind of surprised, to be honest.”
“It’s normally the songs that you don’t really think that are the hits!” added Dinah Jane Hansen.
Fifth Harmony tracks like “BO$$” and “Sledgehammer” helped earn the group a loyal fan base, but “Worth It” is growing at radio, up 7 percent this week with 79 million in audience while staying at No. 10 on the Radio Songs chart.
“This is definitely our biggest single to date for sure, and so just to see it continue to climb and see it on the charts with Ed Sheeran or Taylor Swift, or whoever’s big right now, it’s right next to them and right there with them,” says Jauregui. “It’s frickin’ platinum! To say it’s platinum, that a million people bought that song, it’s amazing. It’s so incredible to see that the support has gone beyond our fan base.”
The wait’s been worth it for Ally Brooke Hernandez, Lauren Jauregui and Camila Cabello.
The Latina singers and their fellow Fifth Harmony members have reached a new best rank on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The all-girl group’s latest single, “Worth It,” featuring Kid Ink, rises 41-39 this week to enter the Top 49.
The track tops by one spot the peak of The X Factor finalist’s single “Sledgehammer.”
“Worth It” also pushes 24-22 on Billboard’s Digital Songs chart, despite a 5 percent slip to 48,000, and retreats 47-49 on the Streaming Songs charts, but with a 4 percent increase to 3.6 million.
