Kehlani Releases Teaser For Upcoming Third Album “Blue Water Road”

Kehlani is taking it to the Road

The 26-year-old part-Mexican American Grammy-nominated singer is set to release her next album, Blue Water Road, this winter.

Kehlani

Kehlani took to Twitter to share the minute-long trailer soundtracked by dramatic orchestral music, which shows Kehlani “coming out of the rubble of It Was Good Until It Wasnt and into the light, on to the road,” as she described it. The singer, who has an injured leg in the video, hobbles down the titular road and befriends a dragonfly that succumbs to a larger, unknown power.

The R&B singer released her second studio album It Was Good Until It Wasn’t on May 8, 2020. The project reached No. 2 on both the Billboard 200 and BillboardTop R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts.

One fan on Twitter noticed the continuity in the imagery from IWGUIW, which depicted on its cover art the “Toxic” singer escaping the chaos on one side of a brick wall only to find out the other side doesn’t promise an easier life, to Blue Water Road. “WAIT THIS MAKES SENSE!!! So your leg was hurt from the It was Good Until It Wasn’t Cover!” Twitter user @_serialov3r wrote.

The Grammy-nominated singer shared the theory with the bullseye emoji to commend the fan for nailing it.

Jhene Aiko Releases 15-Minute Medley of Her Hits on Instagram

Jhene Aiko is welcoming you into her home in a special way…

The 32-year-old part-Spanish & part-Dominican American R&B singer & songwriter, a three-time Grammy nominee this year for her critically acclaimed album Chilombo, has shared a 15-minute medley on Instagram, kicking off the new year with a vibe-filled performance complete with violet lighting, cups of tea, a fire in the fireplace and even Tibetan singing bowls — you can practically smell the incense.

Jhené Aiko

Aiko also hosted an immersive sound bath live performance featuring a variety of color and aroma therapy, sound healing, conscience breathing, and guided meditation.

Over the years she’s collaborated with Big Sean, Childish Gambino, Rae Sremmurd, Kehlani, John Legend, Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa, Chris Brown, and Mila J.

Although she got her start as a teenager working with the pop group B2K, her proper career began in 2011 with the release of her first mixtape, Sailing Soul(s).

Later that year she signed with Kanye West/Jay-Z producer No I.D.’s ARTium label (via Def Jam), following with the Sail Out EP in 2013. Her major-label debut, Souled Out, garnered three Grammy noms, and she followed in 2017 with Trip.

The songs are from Chilombo and Souled Out.

Medley Track List:
“Triggered (freestyle)”
“Trigger Protection Mantra”
“W.A.Y.S.”
“Born Tired”
“Summer 2020”
“10K Hours”

Jhené Aiko

The album charged 43-6 with 50,000 equivalent album units earned (up 247 percent) in the week ending July 23, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data

The album’s rise back up the list is due to the release of a deluxe edition on July 17, with an additional nine tracks.

The deluxe album includes appearances from KehlaniMila JChris BrownSnoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa.

The album was initially released on March 6, and debuted and peaked at No. 2 on the March 21-dated chart.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The new Aug. 1-dated chart will be posted in full on Billboard‘s website on July 28.

Kehlani Earns Third Straight No. 1 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums Chart with “It Was Good Until It Wasn’t”

Make that three in a row for Kehlani

The 25-year-old part-Mexican American singer-songwriter has captured her third straight No. 1 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart as It Was Good Until It Wasn’t debuts at the summit on the list dated May 23.

Kehlani

The album arrives with 83,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending May 17, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data, the highest one-week total of her career.

It Was Good Until It Wasn’t, released on Tsunami Mob/Atlantic/AG, follows a pair of previous chart-toppers: SweetSexySavage in 2017 and last year’s While We Wait, which both ruled for one week.

Kehlani’s debut effort, You Should Be Here, debuted and peaked at No. 2 on the Top R&B Albums chart in 2015.

“I’m grateful, I can’t believe it,” Kehlani tells Billboard. “Imma [sic] celebrate by laying in bed and getting some much needed rest with my daughter.”

It Was Good Until It Wasn’t marks her first album since the birth of her daughter, Adeya, in March 2019.

Beyond its R&B victory, It Was Good Until It Wasn’tconcurrently opens at No. 2 on both the Billboard 200 and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums.

Accompanying Kehlani’s Goodstart, nine of the album’s tracks debut on Hot R&B Songs, led by a No. 4 entrance for “Can I,” featuring Tory Lanez. The tune marks Kehlani’s highest debut on the chart and ties for her best peak with “Nights Like This,” featuring Ty Dolla $ign.

Here’s a full rundown of Kehlani’s new collection on Hot R&B Songs:

Rank, Title, Additional Artists (if any)
No. 4, “Can I,” featuring Tory Lanez
No. 9, “Change Your Life,” featuring Jhene Aiko
No. 14, “Water”
No. 15, “Bad News”
No. 18, “Hate The Club,” featuring Masego
No. 21, “Serial Lover”
No. 22, “Can You Blame Me” featuring Lucky Daye
No. 24, “Open (Passionate)”
No. 25, “Grieving,” featuring James Blake

Activity surrounding Kehlani’s It Was Good Until It Wasn’thelps the singer-songwriter jump 40-3 on Billboard’s Artist 100 chart. The leap secures her first week in the top 10, after narrowly missing out (No. 11) upon SweetSexySavage‘s chart arrival in February 2017.

Kehlani’s “It Was Good Until It Wasn’t” Predicted to Be Her Highest Charting Album on the Billboard 200

Kehlani’s thisclose to achieving a personal best…

The 25-year-old part-Mexican American singer-songwriter’s latest album, It Was Good Until It Wasn’t, is expected to debut in the Top 10 on next week’s Billboard 200 albums chart.

Kehlani

Kehlani’s album is predicted to reach around 75,000 equivalent album units sold in the week ending May 14, putting it in the race for the No. 2 stop on the chart.

And if the numbers hold up, Kehlani could capture her highest charting album, and best week in terms of units earned, with this latest release. Kehlani’s new album is supported by a small range of merchandise/album bundles.

Presently, her highest charting set is SweetSexySavage, which debuted and peaked at No. 3 in 2017 with 58,000 first-week units (her biggest week, in terms of volume).

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which comprises traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA).

The top 10 of the May 23-dated Billboard 200 chart is scheduled to be revealed on Billboard’s website on Sunday, May 17.

Bad Bunny Becomes First Latino to Achieve No. 1 Album Debut on Apple Music

Bad Bunny’s making Apple Musichistory…

The 26-year-old Puerto Rican Latin trap and reggaeton singer’s Los Que No Iban a Salir is currently the No.1 album on Apple Music, making Bad Bunny the first Latino artist to achieve a No.1 debut on Apple’s All-Genre charts.

Bad Bunny

Bad Bunny posted the news to his Instagram Stories on Monday.

The 10-track collection arrived as a massive surprise on Sunday, even though he’d revealed bits and pieces of the record during his epic IG live performance the night of May 2.

Bad Bunny’s ahead of Kehlani’s It Was Good Until it Wasn’tLittle Richard hits comp that’s soaring in the wake of the rock ‘n’ roll pioneer’s passing, as well as the solo debut of Paramore’s Hayley Williams.

Only two of the cutting-floor tracks on the album, “Bad Con Nicky” and “Pa’ Romperla” (with Don Omar) have landed in the top 200 songs on Apple Music’s top songs chart, though. That means that Bad Bunny fans are listening to his album of resurrected gems from start to finish—over and over again.

Kehlani Reveals Complete Track List for Sophomore Album “It Was Good Until It Wasn’t”

Kehlaniis sharing the good (and the bad)…

The 25-year-old part-Mexican American singer has revealed the entire track list for her sophomore album It Was Good Until It Wasn’t, which features collaborations with Tory LanezJhené AikoMasegoLucky Daye and James Blake.

Kehlani

Kehlani caps the 15-song listing with “Lexii’s Outro” to commemorate late Minnesota-based rapper Lexii Alijai, who first collaborated with Kehlani on “Jealous” from her 2015 mix tape You Should Be Here. Alijai died January 1 from an accidental overdose at age 21.

The new songs will arrive with her previously released singles, “Toxic,” “Everybody Business” and “F&MU,” this Friday, May 8.

Kehlani announced her second LP on her 25th birthday (April 24) with the official album artwork that teased the grass ain’t always greener on the other side.

Today, she revealed the climactic back cover of IWGUIW, which speaks volumes to how bad things can seem as utter chaos ensues behind the spooked singer.

Kehlani Releases Heartbreaking Single “Valentine’s Day (Shameful)”

Kehlani has released a new heartbreaking single…

The 24-year-old part-Mexican American singer publicly moves on from an ex while putting him on blast with the “Valentine’s Day (Shameful),” recently released on her YouTube channel and SoundCloud

Kehlani

Without addressing the subject by name, Kehlani subliminally airs out a former partner for repeated cheating and says she was there to help him through his crippling addictions.

“Wish I didn’t check your text when you was drunk asleep/ I’ve seen everything that I ain’t wanna see/ That I needed to see, that I needed to be/ Hope you live happily ever after with the b—h, uh/ Fly to France, wine and crackers, honeymoonin’ with the b—h/ Hope you f–k around and have the son you wanted with the b—h,” she painfully sings.

In a since-deleted tweet, Kehlani announced that she’s indeed single again.

“Feel something and get it off. 3 therapeutic hours. appreciating those who see and hear me, and those around me holding me up. real grateful for expression right now. inward & onward, love always ALL ways,” Kehlani captioned behind the scenes footage of the track organically coming together in the studio.

The song follows her “Konclusions” duet with what appears to be her now-ex YG, released on Valentine’s Day.

Kehlani Collaborates with Zedd on New Single, “Good Thing”

Kehlani has a good thing coming…

The 24-year-old part-Mexican and part-Spanish American singer has joined voices with Zedd.

Kehlani

The hit producer has shared a snippet of his forthcoming single called “Good Thing” with Kehlani.

An innocent, syncopated synth bounces softly as if in intro. While there isn’t a preview of the singer’s work, one can imagine she’s put on her dance-pop best.

This is Zedd and Kehlani’s first collaboration. She usually works in the pop, hip-hop and R&B worlds, though she did famously appear on Calvin Harris‘ funk tune “Faking It” with Lil Yachty

“Good Thing” follows Zedd’s Katy Perry collab “365,” released in February.

The Kehlani single is due out Friday, September 27.
