Diego Luna is heading back to the Force…

Pivoting off 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars story, the 40-year-old actor is returning to the Star Wars franchise with the new series Andor.

With Tony Gilroy running the show, the 12-episode series will debut in 2022, Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy has revealed.

Having launched production just a few weeks ago in the United Kingdom on the Fiona Shaw co-starrer, Andor offered a sneak peek at this latest expansion of the tales from a galaxy far far away:

Luna originally starred as Cassian Andor in Rogue One back in 2016.

Disney+ Announces “The Mandalorian” Spinoff Series “Ahsoka Tano,” Starring Rosario Dawson

Rosario Dawson is extending her Star Wars run…

The Mandalorian spinoff series Ahsoka Tano is in the works from Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, based on the famed Clone Wars cartoon character brought to life by the 41-year-old Puerto Rican and Cuban American actress this past season on the second season of the Disney+ series.

Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy announced the spinoff news during Disney Investor Day.

No footage was shared for the series from Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, but the show’s official logo was revealed.

The series, starring Dawson, is set within the timeline of The Mandalorian.

As for what Ahsoka Tano’s arc may be in the series, that remains to be seen. When she made her debut on The Mandalorian, she told Din Djarin she would not train Grogu in the ways of a Jedi.

Ahsoka’s timeline in the post-Return of the Jedi era is unknown, so this series will presumably fill out those details and potentially give Star Wars new territory to play with during the time between and during the events of the new trilogy movies.

Directed by Gareth Edwards, the film focuses on resistance fighters who unite to steal plans to Death Star.

Along with Luna, who last starred in Elysium, cast members include Felicity Jones, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk and Riz Ahmed.

Star Wars Rogue One

Rogue One takes place before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope and will be a departure from the saga films but have elements that are familiar to the Star Wars universe,” producer Kathleen Kennedy said in a release. “It goes into new territory, exploring the galactic struggle from a ground-war perspective while maintaining that essential Star Wars feel that fans have come to know.”

Rogue One is slated for a December 16, 2016 release.
