Sebastian Armesto to Star in Netflix’s Original Series “Cursed”

The 36-year-old part-Spanish actor has been cast in Netflix’s forthcoming original series Cursedwhich will begin production this month.

Armesto joins a cast that includes Katherine LangfordDevon TerrellGustaf SkarsgårdPeter MullanLily NewmarkShalom Brune-FranklinDaniel SharmanEmily CoatesCatherine Walkerand Billy Jenkins.

Comic book writer/artist Frank Millerand writer/producer Tom Wheelerjoined forces for the original drama series, which received a 10-episode order from Netflix.

The series is a re-imagining of the Arthurian legend, told through the eyes of the young woman, played by Langford, who would become the Lady of the Lake. Cursed explores timely, familiar themes including obliteration of the natural world, religious zeal and oppression, senseless war and finding the courage to lead in the face of the impossible.

It will be based on Miller and Wheeler’s upcoming illustrated book of the same name. It will be published in fall 2019 by Simon & Schuster. This is believed to be the first time the same creative team will be writing a book and television series based on it simultaneously as they get to explore the characters from the book in more detail on screen.

Latina director Zetna Fuentes (Ray DonovanJessica Jones) is set to direct and serve as an executive producer on the first two episodes. 

Lionsgate & MRC to Release Ana de Armas’ Murder Mystery “Knives Out” in November 2019

Lionsgate will partner with MRC to distribute worldwide Knives Out, the contemporary murder mystery starring the 30-year-old Cuban actress.

Looper and Star Wars: The Last Jedi helmer Rian Johnson wrote and is directing the film, which stars Daniel Craig as a detective trying to solve a murder.

In addition to de Armas and Craig, the killer ensemble cast includes Chris EvansMichael ShannonLakeith StanfieldJamie Lee CurtisToni ColletteChristopher PlummerKatherine Langford and Don Johnson.

Lionsgate has scheduled the film for nationwide release on November 27, 2019 for the Thanksgiving holiday corridor.

The film became possible when director Danny Boyleexited James Bond 25. While that film regrouped — Cary Fukunagais directing it — Craig suddenly had an open slot, and Johnson and his producing partner Ram Bergman took full advantage with an Agatha Christie-style murder mystery that Johnson wrote and was able to squeeze in before he and Bergman drill down on a new trilogy in the Star Wars universe.

It appears that Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why, starring the 25-year-old Puerto Rican actor, may be getting a second-season renewal soon, according to reports by Deadline.com.

The series, executive produced by Selena Gomez, is an adaption of the bestselling 2007 Young Aduly book by Jay Asher.

13 Reasons Why has been well received by critics and has created buzz on social media, quickly developing a following. There had been talks about how to extend the premise beyond Season 1.

The series follows teenager Clay Jensen (Dylan Minnette) as he returns home from school to find a mysterious box with his name on it lying on his porch. Inside he discovers cassette tapes recorded by Hannah Baker (newcomer Katherine Langford) —his classmate and crush—who tragically committed suicide two weeks earlier. On tape, Hannah explains that there are thirteen reasons why she decided to end her life. Will Clay be one of them? If he listens, he’ll find out how he made the list.

In addition to Navarro, who portrays Tony Padilla, the series also stars Kate Walsh, Brian D’Arcy James, Derek Luke, Brandon Flynn, Justin Prentice, Alisha Boe and Tommy Dorfman.

13 Reasons Why is directed by Oscar winner Tom McCarthy (Spotlight), written by Tony and Pulitzer Prize Winner Brian Yorkey (Next to Normal), and executive produced by Gomez.

The series is produced for Netflix by Paramount Television.

Netflix has scheduled the global premiere of 13 Reasons Why for March 31.

The highly anticipated adaption of the bestselling 2007 young adult book by Jay Asher is being executive produced by the 24-year-old Mexican American actress/singer.

Gomez announced the news via her Instagram account, along with a sneak peek at the series.

Netflix also released key art with the tagline “If you’re listening, you’re too late.”
