Manuel Turizo is helping celebrate another holiday in the United States…
Following his debut appearance at this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, the 23-year-old Colombian singer will helping light the iconic Rockefeller Center Christmastree in New York City.
The popular Manhattan landmark will be hosting its 91st annual lighting ceremony on Wednesday, November 29 at 8:00 pm ET. The 2023 Christmas tree lighting ceremony is bound to get you in the holiday spirit with the help of a slew of guests and musical performances.
This year, Kelly Clarkson will be hosting the tree lighting ceremony and performing on the show that will feature appearances from Today’s Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb, Al Roker and Craig Melvin.
In addition to Turizo, you can also expect musical performances from Chloe Bailey, Adam Blackstone, Cher, David Foster, Liz Gillies, Darlene Love, Seth MacFarlane, Barry Manilow, Katharine McPhee, Keke Palmer, Carly Pearce, Radio City Rockettes and more.
The 26-year-old part-Puerto Rican American singer and former American Idol champion will appear in this year’s AI finale.
Even though it won’t be the typical AI finale to announce the winner of season 18 due to the COVID-19 lockdown, next Sunday’s (8:00 – 10:00 pm ET, May 17) shelter-at-home-based season-ender will still feature A-listers, including McCreery, who claimed the crown in Season 10.
During Sunday’s semifinal, host Ryan Seacrest revealed some of the special guests who’ll dial in for the finale, which include two performances from the top five (who’ll be announced at the beginning of the episode after two eliminations) preceding the live vote to determine this year’s winner.
The top five will then perform a song celebrating their induction into the semifinal round, followed by a previously performed song and, then, their official AIsingle. (The winner will be determined live in a real-time vote on the East Coast broadcast.)
In addition to the return of the top 11 and a fan favorite from this season, there’ll be a once-in-a-lifetime special performance of “We Are The World” by the inspiring anthem’s co-writer, Idoljudge Lionel Richie. In the first television take on the song in 35 years, Richie will team up with fellow judges Katy Perry and Luke Bryan to pay tribute to all the families at home around the world now.
Joining the judges on the all-star anthem will be a giant cast of former Idolcontestants including last year’s runner-up, Alejandro “ScaryPoolParty” Aranda, Gabby Barrett, Jordin Sparks, Katharine McPhee, Kellie Pickler, Laine Hardy, Lauren Alaina, Phillip Phillips, Ruben Studdard and McCreery.
Additionally, Cynthia Erivo singing a medley of Aretha Franklin songs, two-time Idol contestant Lauren Daigle singing her hit “You Say,” as well as Rascal Flatts and Doug Kiker doing “Bless the Broken Road,” Bryan performing his single “One Margarita” and Perry offering up the television debut of her new single, “Daisies.”
After Sunday night’s Mother’s Day special, the top seven semi-finalists are: Just Sam (Samantha Diaz), Louis Knight, Francisco Martin, Julia Gargano, Arthur Gunn, Dillon James and Jonny West.
The 35-year-old Latina actress/singer is expected to take part in a virtual Smash cast reunion.
Rodriguez, who portrayed Ana Vargas on NBC’s 2012-2013 musical series, will appear in the one-night-only Actors Fund benefit event alongside her Smashcastmates Jaime Cepero, Will Chase, Brian d’Arcy James, Jack Davenport, Ann Harada, Jeremy Jordan, Andy Mientus, Leslie Odom Jr. and Wesley Taylor.
The show’s stars Debra Messing, Katharine McPhee, Christian Borle, Megan Hilty and other cast members will virtually reunite on May 20 for a streaming of the 2015 Bombshell in Concert, with Renée Zellwegerintroducing the event and Julie Klausner hosting a live, virtual cast reunion.
The concert of the show-within-the-show about the life of Marilyn Monroewas taped at Broadway’s Minskoff Theateron June 8, 2015, an event that remains one of the most successful fundraisers ever for The Actors Fund. Bombshell– the creation of which formed the plot of Smash– features a score by Marc Shaimanand Scott Wittman, who also served as executive producers of Smash.
Rodriguez and her cast members will appear in a livestream reunion during the intermission.
The concert and reunion will stream on Wednesday, May 20, at 8:00 pm ET on people.com, PeopleTV, and People social platforms.

In the past seven weeks, The Actors Fund has distributed $10.1 million in emergency financial assistance to 8,558 people in need due to the current COVID-19pandemic, or more than five times the funds normally provided in a year.
Smashwas based on an original idea by Steven Spielberg, who was also executive producer of the series, and created by Theresa Rebeck.
Mariah Carey isn’t just busting out notes… She’s also busting off bottle caps!
The 49-year-old half-Venezuelan American chanteuse has magically mastered the Bottle Cap Challengeusing only her voice.
Carey posted a video on social media over the weekend where she jokingly spins the cap right off a bottle with one of her signature high-pitched notes.
“Challenge accepted! #bottlecapchallenge,” she captioned the clip.
The viral challenge, which has been going on for about a month, requires participants to untwist a cap using only just a spin kick without touching any other part of the bottle.
The astonishing feat didn’t go unnoticed by Carey’s millions o fInstagram followers. Ex-husband Nick Cannon commented that the stunt was “Hilarious!” while Rita Ora noted, “You win hands down.” Katharine McPhee chimed in, writing, “Girl all the bottle caps in my room just popped off while watching this ———-.”
Carey isn’t the only musical artist to take on the Bottle Cap Challenge. Justin Bieber ,John Mayer, Diplo, Ellie Goulding and Blake Shelton, among others, have also hilariously taken it on.
The Television Academy has announced the second wave of presenters for the Creative Arts Emmys on September 10 and 11, with the 57-year-old Cuban actor and comedian making the list.

McCreery comes in at No. 6 on the list, raking in $3 million dollars.
“Still not old enough to drink legally and not quite three years removed from his Idol win, McCreery is already making a name for himself as a solo act,” states the magazine’s description of McCreery. “His debut album, Clear As Day, sold over 1 million copies; on the road, he opened for Brad Paisley before launching a solo tour in 2013.”
Forbes determined this year’s Top-Earning list by calculating pretax earnings from June 2012 through June 2013 “with the help of data from Pollstar Pro, the RIAA, Nielsen SoundScan as wells industry veterans, the musicians’ handlers and some of the artists themselves.”

Krysta Rodriguez is preparing to make a smash on television…
The 27-year-old Latina Broadway actress/singer has joined the cast of NBC’sSmash as a series regular, according to TVLine.
Rodriguez, who most recently starred as Wednesday in the Broadway adaptation of The Addams Family, will playAna, the roommate to Katharine McPhee’s character Karen, in the Broadway drama’s second season.
She joins new cast members Jennifer Hudson, Newsies‘ Jeremy Jordan and Andy Mientus.
Rodriguez has previously appeared in In the Heights, Spring Awakening, A Chorus Line and Good Vibrations. On television, Rodriguez has guest-starred on the CW’s Gossip Girl.
The second season of Smash, the musical drama about the Broadway starring Emmy winner Debra Messing, Oscar winner Anjelica Huston and Megan Hilty, is set for a midseason premiere.
Javier Colon has locked in his plans to kick-off the upcoming holiday season… He’ll be a special guest at the Christmas tree lighting at New York City’s Rockefeller Center.
The 33-year-old Dominican & Puerto Rican American winner of NBC’s hit reality singing competition The Voice will perform live on NBC’s Christmas Tree Lighting Special.
Colon will join Tony Bennett, Justin Bieber, Michael Buble, Cee Lo Green, Faith Hill, Carole King and Katharine McPhee as they perform classic and modern holiday songs.
The holiday special, which dates back to 1933, will air live on NBC on November 30 at 8:00 pm with co-hosts Al Roker and Savannah Guthrie.
The event will showcase a 10-ton Norway Spruce holiday tree measuring 74 feet tall and 46 feet in diameter.
