Angela Aguilar Launches New Line of Perfumes

Angela Aguilar is bracing for the sweet smell of success…

The 19-year-old Mexican American singer, the daughter of Pepe Aguilar, has launched a new line of perfumes this week , hich includes three scents: Caricia (green bottle), Joy (white bottle), and Mexican in Love (red bottle) — the colors of the bottle represent the Mexican flag.

Ángela AguilarThe perfumes will be sold at her virtual store and at her concerts, and a large part of the profits will go to the Gilberto AC Association, which “is made up of Mexican women who help, support and make a big difference in housing, education and in areas affected by natural disasters,” according to a press statement.

The 37-year-old Dominican actress is set to star in MGM’s superhero thriller movie Samaritan

Polanco joins a cast that includes Javon ‘Wanna’ WaltonSylvester StalloneMartin StarrPilou Asbækand Moises Arias.

Walton will play a young boy who’s out to discover if a mythic superhero, who vanished 20 years earlier following a tragic event, is still alive.

Julius Avery is directing from a screenplay by Bragi F. Schut, with additional writing by Mark L. SmithZak Penn, and Chuck MacLean

The story is based on Schut’s original idea. 

The film is scheduled for release on December 11 via United Artists Releasingwith Universal handling foreign. 

Polanco portrayed Dayanara Diaz on Netflix’s Orange is the New Blackfor seven-seasons and starred in Ava DuVernay’s 2019 Netflix limited series When They See Us. She’ll soon be seen in her first lead film role in Adrian Martinez’s indie dark comedy iCreep, and Warner Brothers’ adaption of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s In The Heightsthis summer. Arias first made a name for himself as series regular on the Disney Channel hit original series Hannah Montana, and has since gone on to appear in several Sundance films including Kings of Summer, The Land and Stanford Prison Experiment. Last year, he appeared in CBS Films’ Five Feet Apart as well as the Sundance World Dramatic Competition Special Jury Award winner Monos and the SXSW opening weekend film The Wall of Mexico

Polanco to Star in the Indie Dark Comedy “iCreep”

The 33-year-old Dominican actress, a regular on the Netflix dramedy Orange Is the New Black, has landed her first starring film role.

Polanco is set as the female lead in iCreep, an indie dark comedy from writer-director Adrian Martinez, who also stars in and will produce the film.

iCreep follows the life of a loner, Gilbert (Martinez), and the love of his life, Jana (Polanco).

Polanco plays Dayanara Diaz on Orange Is the New Black, sharing a pair of SAG Awards for the ensemble cast, and also appeared in the features Joy and The Perfect Match.

Her other credits include The Cobbler and Gimme Shelter.

The 36-year-old Brazilian-American actress has earned her first ever MTV Movie Awards nominations for playing Ryan Reynolds’ love interest in Deadpool.

The former Homeland star is nominated for Best Female Performance, where she’ll face stiff competition from Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina), Anna Kendrick (Pitch Perfect 2), Charlize Theron (Mad Max: Fury Road), Daisy Ridley (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) and Jennifer Lawrence (Joy).

Baccarin and Reynolds are also nominated in the Best Kiss category.

The awards show will be hosted by Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart on Sunday, April 10.

Jesse & Joy Notch The Duo’s Chart-Topper on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums

The Mexican pop duo, comprised of siblings Jesse Huerta and Joy Huerta, has earned its first No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums (chart dated Dec. 26).

The announcement comes as Jesse & Joy’s,Un Besito Mas arrives at the top spot with 3,000 copies sold during the tracking week ending Dec. 10 (according to Nielsen Music).

The entry marks the fourth charted set for the Mexican siblings who first reached the tally in 2009 with Electricidad (No. 14 peak).

Meanwhile, single “Ecos de Amor,” from Besito, hops 35-32 on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart in its 12th week.

When the track debuted on the Oct. 10-dated chart, it ended a 22-week run of having no female-led songs on the chart. “Ecos” peaked at No. 30 (Nov. 7).

Over on Billboard’s Latin Pop Songs, chart the pair net the highest weekly debut with the set’s second single, “No Soy Una De Esas” featuring Alejandro Sanz. The song arrives at No. 19 — the act’s best entrance to date (of 15 charted songs). “Ecos” concurrently slides 19-24 on the list.

Ramirez to Star Opposite Matthew McConaughey in the Mining Drama “Gold”

The 37-year-old Venezuelan actor, who starred in Zero Dark Thirty, will star opposite Matthew McConaughey in Black Bear Pictures’ upcoming mining drama Gold.

In the Stephen Gaghan-helmed project, Ramirez will portray geologist Michael Acosta opposite the Oscar winner’s role of prospector Walsh.

Written by Patrick Massett and John Zinman and based on the true story about the 1993 Bre-X Mineral Corporation mining scandal, the film revolves around the unlikely pair traveling to the Indonesian jungle in search of the highly valued soft metal of the title.

Production begins in June with filming in New York, New Mexico and Thailand.

Best known for playing 1970s terrorist Ilich Ramírez Sánchez in the 2010 miniseries Carlos, a role that earned him the César Award for Most Promising Actor, Ramirez’s more recent credits include David O. Russell’s Joy opposite Jennifer Lawrence and the Alcon reboot of Point Break, both of which are set for Christmas Day releases this year. Additionally, the actor stars as boxer Roberto Duran in the biopic Hands of Stone opposite Robert DeNiro. Hands of Stone is scheduled to hit the big screen in October.

Ramirez In Talks to Star Opposite Jennifer Lawrence in David O. Russell’s “Joy”

It could be a joyous occasion for Édgar Ramírez

The 37-year-old Venezuelan actor is in final talks to play the husband of Jennifer Lawrence’s character in Joy, director David O. Russell’s take on Miracle Mop inventor Joy Mangano.

Mangano (being portrayed by Lawrence) is a prominent fixture on the Home Shopping Network with her many inventions, though the mop was her claim to fame and fortune. She began inventing things as a teenager and kept on dreaming and tinkering while still a single mom raising three kids.

Ramírez will play Mangano’s dapper but cheating husband, whom she eventually divorces.

Robert De Niro is already on board to portray Mangano’s father.

Ramírez was last seen on the big screen this summer in Deliver Us From Evil, the supernatural thriller that also starred Eric Bana. He recently wrapped shooting on Point Break, the remake of the 1980s classic in which he plays Bodhi, the role first played by Patrick Swayze. Warner Bros. plans to release the film on July 31, 2015.

Additionally, he leads the cast of Hands of Stone, a biopic about boxer Roberto Duran that also includes De Niro. That movie is expected to be released sometime next year.

Joy is expected to begin production in early February.
