George Lopez to Appear on NBC’s “A Toast to 2024!” Special

George Lopez is preparing for a special toast to 2024…

The 63-year-old Mexican American stand-up comedian and actor will appear on the two-hour primetime special A Toast to 2024!, which will be hosted by Today‘s Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager.

George LopezKotb and Bush Hager will help viewers ring in the New Year when they return as the hosts of the special airing on December 31 at 9:00 pm ET/8:00 pm CT.

In addition to Lopez, who stars on NBC’s Lopez vs. Lopez, others who will be featured to discuss the year’s buzziest and brightest moments are Happy’s Place and The Voice‘s Reba McEntire and NBC Paris Olympics correspondent and rapper Snoop Dogg,.

NBC recently revealed its full NYE lineup, which kicks off with an encore performance of the St. Denis episode “Salamat You Too” at 8:00 pm followed by a repeat of the Night Court episode “The Judge’s Boyfriend’s Dad” at 8:30 pm.

A Toast to 2024! airs at 9 p.m. and serves as the lead-in for The Day Drinking with Seth Meyers New Year’s Special at 11:30 p.m. The night’s celebrations conclude with E! News Presents NBC’s Hot 10 of 2024 at 12:35 am.

A Toast to 2024! marks the 10th New Year’s Eve special from NBC News and Dateline NBC. Liz Cole is the senior executive producer; Paul Ryan is the executive producer; Charmian Ling is the senior producer; Justin Smith is the supervising producer.

 

Ally Brooke to Appear on Upcoming Season of MTV’s The Surreal Life

Things are about to get (sur)real for Ally Brooke.

The 30-year-old Mexican American singer has joined the celebrity cast of MTV’s upcoming season of The Surreal Life, which is set to begin production this month.

Ally BrookeAlly Brooke, a former member of Fifth Harmony, will be joined by Macy Gray, Chet Hanks, O.T. Genasis, Kim Zolciak, Johnny Weir and Josie Conseco for the new season of the revival of the iconic VH1 series.

Per MTV, “known for its legendary “celeb-reality,” The Surreal Life returns with unexpected stars coming together for a wild, over the top journey that pushes them to reveal different sides of themselves in surprising ways.”

Last season’s lineup included Dennis RodmanAugust Alsina, CJ Perry, Frankie Muniz, Kim Coles, Manny MUA, Stormy Daniels and Tamar Braxton. The series previously aired on VH1.

The Surreal Life is executive produced by Adam Gonzalez for A Game Productions with MTV Entertainment Studios and by Samuel Duque for Telecolombia International Studios.

For MTV Entertainment Studios, executive producers include Tolani Holmes, Elena Diaz and Camilo Valdes with Matthew Parillo as executive in charge of production.

Justina Machado to Compete on ABC’s Upcoming Season of “Dancing With The Stars”

The 47-year-old Puerto Rican actress, who currently stars on PopTV’s One Day at a Time, will compete on ABC’s Dancing With The Stars this season.

Machado will compete against Tiger King’s Carole Baskin, rapper Nelly, Selling Sunset’s Chrishell Stause and NBA legend Charles Oakley among others for the coveted DTWS mirrorball trophy.

The ABC celebrity ballroom dancing competition series, based on the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, will premiere on September 14 with new host Tyra Banks.

This season’s other competirors include Monica Aldama, star of Netflix’s Cheer, Disney Channel actress Skai Jackson, The Real’s Jeannie Mai, Catfish’s Nev Schulman, Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir, Super Bowl champion Vernon Davis, Anne Heche, Backstreet Boys member AJ McLean, and The Bachelor’s Kaitlyn Bristowe.

This season’s professional dancers include Brandon Armstrong, Alan Bersten, Sharna Burgess, Cheryl Burke, Artem Chigvintsev, Val Chmerkovskiy, Sasha Farber, Jenna Johnson, Daniella Karagach, Keo Motsepe, Peta Murgatroyd, Pasha Pashkov, Gleb Savchenko, Emma Slater and Britt Stewart.

In addition to hosting, Banks will also serve as an executive producer this season. She replaces Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews as the show’s host in season 29.

One of the challenges for this season is to ensure that the production adheres to COVID-19 protocols, a trickier move for a dance competition format than many other productions. Details of the health and safety protocols and other format refreshes are expected imminently.

First Look: Martin’s New M.A.C. Viva Glam Ad

Ricky Martin isn’t just an international singing sensation, he’s now officially a M.A.C. daddy…

The 39-year-old Puerto Rican heartthrob appears in the cosmetic company’s 2012 Viva Glam campaign with rap-sensation Nicki Minaj.

M.A.C. released an oh-so-colorful image for the campaign on the company’s Facebook page, which features Martin and Minaj. Shot by noted photographer David LaChapelle, the image shows Martin holding a supersized Viva Glam lipstick above his head while Minaj sits perched atop a motorcycle.

M.A.C. has said “every cent of Ricky and Nicki’s Viva Glam products, on-counter February 2012, goes to support the M·A·C AIDS Fund.”

Martin and Minaj are the latest celebrities to represent the line. Previous spokespeople include Fergie, Christina Aguilera and Lady Gaga.

Meanwhile, Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir was also announced as a new face of the brand in June.

To date, the M.A.C AIDS Fund has raised more than $224 million exclusively through the sale of its Viva Glam lip products, with 100 percent of the sale price going to fight HIV/AIDS.
