Carter to Receive Lifetime Achievement Honors at This Year’s Gracie Awards

Lynda Carter has a special reason to be Gracie-ous…

The 64-year-old part-Mexican and part-Spanish American actress, best known for her portrayal of the original Wonder Woman, will be presented with a lifetime achievement award at the 41st annual Gracie Awards Gala.

The Gracie Awards recognize programming created by, for and about women in all media.

Carter starred as the titular female superhero in Wonder Woman, an adventure-drama series that aired on ABC and later CBS from 1975-1979.

In the 2000s she guest starred on television shows including Law & Order, Law & Order: SVU, Smallville and Two and a Half Men.

Carter also appeared in the 2005 movie reboot of Dukes of Hazzard alongside Johnny Knoxville and Jessica Simpson, and she later lent her voice to video games like The Elder Scrolls series and Fallout 4.

Aside from acting, Carter devoted herself to singing, beauty pageants and charity work.

“Lynda is the definition of a trailblazer as she has paved the way for women in media, carrying a national television show as Wonder Woman, and producing and starring in five highly rated network television specials,” Kristen Welch, the senior VP of global content operations at Discovery Communications, said in a statement. “Her success on screen, on the music charts and on stage showcase her talent and drive to break down barriers.”

Carter, along with this year’s other national honorees, will be recognized in a May 24 ceremony at the Beverly Wilshire. Local, public and student Gracie Award winners will be honored at the Gracies Luncheon on June 21 at Cipriani in New York City.

Ferreira to Make Feature Debut in the Indie Film “Elvis & Nixon”

The 22-year-old part-Brazilian singer-songwriter has joined the star-studded cast of the film Elvis & Nixon, the true story drama that has begun shooting in Atlanta.

The indie film centers on actor Michael Shannon as Elvis Presley, The King, has he embarks on a trip to Washington, D.C., to meet President Richard Nixon, being played by Kevin Spacey.

Liza Johnson is directing the film that also has Evan Peters, Colin Hanks, Alex Pettyfer, Johnny Knoxville and Tracy Letts in its supporting cast.

The movie tells of the infamous Dec. 21, 1970, meeting between Presley and Nixon, both men at the height of their power in their respective fields.

The meeting was initiated by Presley, who wrote Nixon an urgent six-page letter requesting a visit and suggesting that he be made a “Federal Agent-at-Large” in the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs.

Pettyfer is playing Jerry Schilling, Elvis’ best friend who accompanies the singer to D.C. In her screen debut, Ferreira will portray Schilling’s love interest.

Trailer Released for Rodriguez’s “The Last Stand”

Genesis Rodriguez is joining forces with “The Governator”…

Lionsgate has released the official trailer for Arnold Schwarzenegger’s The Last Stand, which co-stars the 25-year-old Venezuelan American actress.

The action-packed film centers on the leader of a drug cartel who busts out of a courthouse and speeds to the Mexican border, where the only thing in his path is a sheriff (Schwarzenegger) and his inexperienced staff.

Rodriguez, who will next make an apperance in Identity Thief, will play Agent Ellen Richards in the film.

Rodriguez, who made her big screen debut in Man on a Ledge, most recently appeared in Will Ferrell‘s Casa de mi Padre.

Directed by Kim Jee-woon, the film also stars Luis Guzmán, Rodrigo Santoro, Forest Whitaker and Johnny Knoxville.

The Last Stand is set to open on January 18.

Justice’s “Fun Size” Trailer Released

She’s already Victorious on the small screen as the star of a hit Nickelodeon series… And now Victoria Justice is setting her sights on big screen stardom.

Paramount Pictures has just released the trailer for Fun Size, which stars the 19-year-old half-Puerto Rican actress/singer in her first feature film lead role.

The coming of age comedy features Justice in the role of Wren, a troubled but whip-smart girl who loses her oddball little brother on Halloween and has one desperate night to track him down.

Along with Justice, the Josh Schwartz-directed film also stars Josh Pence, Johnny Knoxville and Chelsea Handler.

Fun Size is scheduled for release October 26.

Pitbull to Lend His Voice to the Animated Film “Epic”

He’s already conquered the music world… And, now Pitbull is preparing to take on Hollywood.

The 31-year-old Cuban American singer—who sings the theme song to Men In Black III, entitled “Back in Time—has been cast in Epic, a new 3D CG-animated film by the makers of Ice Age and Rio.

Pitbull is set to lend his voice to one of the animated film’s characters, Bufo.

The film, which had been developed under the title Leafmen, will star Beyonce Knowles as Queen Tara, Colin Farrell as Ronin, The Hunger GamesJosh Hutcherson as Nod, Amanda Seyfried as Mary Katherine, Johnny Knoxville as Mandrake and Aziz Ansari as Mub.

Epic is described as a battle deep in the forest between the forces of good and evil. When a teenaged girl finds herself magically transported into this secret universe, she must band together with a rag-tag team of fun and whimsical characters to save that world, which in turn saves the real world.

Epic is slated for release on May 24, 2013.
