Hayek Endorses LA Mayoral Candidate Eric Garcetti

Following in Eva Longoria’s Obama-size footsteps, Salma Hayek is throwing her support for a candidate in the race for Los Angeles mayor…

The 46-year-old Mexican actress appears in a video released by Los Angeles City Councilman Eric Garcetti showing the Oscar-nominated star of Frida endorsing the former council president’s mayoral aspiration.

Salma Hayek

In the video, Hayek calls the candidate “an amazing dancer,” “a great chef,” “a good gardener,” “a professor,” and “a fierce activist.”

Garcetti has recently stressed his own Latino heritage in efforts to garner support from the city’s Hispanic community, and Hayek’s backing may help in that regard.

The video comes on the heels of Sunday’s announcement that Moby, Jimmy Kimmel and Will Ferrell will appear with Garcetti for a fundraiser at the Fonda Theater on February 7. Tickets for that event are priced at $250 apiece.
