Janelle Rodriguez is switching teams…
The Latina television executive is leaving CNN and joining NBC News as SVP Editorial.
Starting in January, Rodriguez will work with editorial chiefs across all platforms, according to NBC News chief Deborah Turness, to whom Rodriguez will report.
Rodriguez will have oversight of specialist editorial units at NBC News — currently Investigations and Medical, though more are planned. She has been tasked with generating editorial initiatives and driving long-range planning; she will lead the division’s regular editorial planning meetings.
In February 2012, Rodriguez was promoted to VP Programming at CNN; she had been the cable news network’s director of programming, overseeing its Atlanta-based programs since 2010 after a stint as a New York-based EP at the cable news network.
