Diaz Offers Her Twitter Followers a Glimpse at Her Evil “Annie” Character

Cameron Diaz is showing off her evil side…

The 41-year-old half-Cuban American actress has introduced her on-screen alter ego, the oh-so-cruel Miss Hannigan in the contemporary take on the classic Broadway musical Annie.

Cameron Diaz as Annie's Miss Hannigan

“I want you to meet someone,” she recently tweeted. “Her name is Ms.Hannigan. She ain’t nice and she ain’t pretty. #Annie.”

Diaz pouts for the camera. In some on-set pictures landing online around the same time, she is seen wearing a grey sweater, cut-off denim shorts, sheer tights, and black boots. She finishes off her look with big hoop earrings and a selection of necklaces.

In the original story, Miss Hannigan is the wicked owner of the orphanage where Annie resides. Oscar nominee Quvenzhane Wallis plays the titular red-haired girl, Jamie Foxx stars as her savior, and Rose Byrne as her mother figure.

Directed by Will Gluck and produced by rapper Jay-Z and actor Will Smith, the modern-day musical adaptation will hittheaters in the U.S. on December 19, 2014.

Cannavale Wins Emmy for His Supporting Role on HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire”

Bobby Cannavale has a matching pair of golden bookends…

The 43-year-old half-Cuban American actor claimed the second Primetime Emmy award of his career Sunday night for his critically acclaimed performance on HBO’s Boardwalk Empire.

Bobby Cannavale

Cannavale, who portrayed bloodthirsty, but insecure Gyp Rosetti on the hit drama series, pulled off an upset by beating the pre-show pick Homeland’s Mandy Patinkin and sentimental favorite Breaking Bad‘s Aaron Paul for the Supporting Actor in a Drama award. The other nominees included Breaking Bad’s Jonathan Banks, Downton Abbey’s Jim Carter and Game of ThronesPeter Dinklage.

Even Cannavale seemed shocked to hear his name called and he marveled that Patinkin was the first person he ever saw on stage, before remembering to give a proper acceptance speech and thank his family.

Cannavale earned his first Primetime Emmy Award in 2005 for portraying Will’s police officer boyfriend on Will and Grace.

Along with earning a nod for his work on HBO’s Boardwalk Empire, Cannavale also earned his second consecutive nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as Dr. Mike Cruz on Showtime‘s Nurse Jackie.

It was also recently announced that Cannavale has joined Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz in the big screen remake of Annie.

Cannavale to Star Opposite Cameron Diaz in “Annie”

It’s the hard-knock life for Bobby Cannavale

The 43-year-old half-Cuban American has signed on to star in Sony Pictures and Overbrook Entertainment’s in the film adaptation of the Broadway musical Annie.

Bobby Cannavale

Cannavale, currently nominated for two Emmy Awards, joins Quvenzhane Wallis, Jamie Foxx, Cameron Diaz and Rose Byrne in the Will Gluck-directed film.

Cannavale, who most recently appeared in Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine, will play a bulldog political adviser to Foxx’s character as he makes a mayoral run in New York.

The film is set for release on Christmas Day 2014.

Gluck is currently revising the film’s screenplay, which was written by Emma Thompson and rewritten by Aline Brosh McKenna. It’s based on the comic strip and the musical stage play Annie, with book by Thomas Meehan, music by Charles Strouse and lyrics by Martin Charnin.

Cannavale will next appear in the Jon Favreau-directed Chef opposite Favreau and Scarlett Johansson, and the Dan Fogelman-directed Imagine with Al Pacino, Jennifer Garner and Annette Bening.

New Teaser Trailer Released for Bruno Mars’ “Rio 2”

He may hail from Hawaii, but Bruno Mars will be heading to a different paradise locale in the near future…

The 27-year-old part-Puerto Rican singer will be making his big screen debut, voicing a character in the highly anticipated sequel to the hit animated film Rio.

Rio 2

Rio 2, which saw its new teaser trailer released on the Yahoo! Movies site recently, centers on Blu, Jewel and their three kids living the perfect domesticated life in the magical city of Rio de Janeiro. When Jewel decides the kids need to learn to live like real birds, she insists the family venture into the Amazon. As Blu tries to fit in with his new neighbors, he worries he may lose Jewel and the kids to the call of the wild.

The new teaser clip isn’t so plot-revealing as it is entertaining, featuring a performance by a cute capybara named Clara. The little creature is featured delivering a rendition of “Memory” from the 1981 musical Cats in front of other characters until a surprise predator shows up.

The sequel is still supported by Jesse Eisenberg, Anne Hathaway, Leslie Mann and Jamie Foxx among others.

Along with Mars, newcomers in the cast ensemble include The X Factor season one finalist Rachel Crow, Andy Garcia and Kristin Chenoweth.

Original music by Janelle Monae, one of the voice cast members, will be featured in the film from director Carlos Saldanha.
