Johnny Sibilly Guest-Starring on ABC’s “Station 19”

Johnny Sibilly is ready to respond…

The 36-year-old Cuban & Dominican American actor and producer has landed a guest-starring role on ABC‘s Station 19.

In multiple episodes of the seventh and final season, Sibilly will play Dominic, a recently single, charming, charismatic EMS firefighter whose calming nature puts people in crisis at ease.

His debut airs Thursday, April 11 starting at 10:00 pm EDT in the fifth episode of the season titled “My Way” following Andy Herrera (Jaina Lee Ortiz) as she fearlessly leads her team during a life-or-death emergency at Seattle’s most beloved landmark.

Additionally, Vic (Barrett Doss) struggles with emotional burnout and Maya (Danielle Savre) helps Carina (Stefania Spampinato) navigate some difficult news.

Station 19, created by Stacy McKee, is set in Seattle and focuses on the lives of the men and women at Seattle Fire Station 19.

The series also stars Jason George, Grey Damon, Jay Hayden, Boris Kodjoe, Carlos Miranda, Josh Randall and Merle Dandridge.

McGee executive produces alongside Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers. The series is produced by Shondaland and ABC Signature.

This season kicked off with two new showrunners: Zoanne Clack and Peter Paige.

Sibilly was most recently seen as a series regular on Peacock’s Queer As Folk and as ‘Wilson the water cop’ in the Emmy Award-winning comedy series Hacks on Max. He also played Costas Perez in the groundbreaking drama Pose, created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Steven Canals; as well as Season 2 of the web series Liza On Demand.

In addition to his work in television, Sibilly is a fervent advocate for LGBTQ+ and Latinx rights.

Canelo Alvarez Named an Executive Producer on “The Long Game”

Canelo Alvarez is embracing his artistic side…

The 33-year-old Mexican boxing great and entrepreneur will serve as an executive producer on the film, The Long Game, which earned the SXSW Narrative Spotlight Audience Award in 2023.

The feature, directed by Julio Quintana, opens in theaters nationwide on April 12.

The Long Game, inspired by the book Mustang Miracle written by Humberto G. Garcia, follows the true story of five young Mexican American caddies in 1955 who created their own golf course in the middle of the South Texas brush country. Despite outdated and inferior equipment and no professional instruction to begin with, they would go on to compete against wealthy, all-white teams and win the 1957 Texas State High School Golf Championship.

It stars Jay Hernandez, Dennis Quaid, Cheech Marin, Julian Works, Paulina Chavez, Jaina Lee Ortiz, Brett Cullen and Oscar Nuñez. Quintana penned the script alongside Jennifer C. Stetson and Paco Farias.

The Guadalajara-born boxing star is an avid golfer himself and has his golf apparel line “No Golf, No Life” collection.

“From the first time I saw The Long Game I was inspired to give whatever support was needed. I connected with The Long Game on so many levels and I am excited for the public to know more about true stories within the history of sports that haven’t been told.” Alvarez tells Deadline in a statement.

He added, “I’m proud to be part of a team that is sharing the story of five Mexican-Americans with determination, drive and passion to create their own journey. This film is an inspiration for the golf community and the world.”

Mucho Mas Media and Bonniedale Entertainment teamed up to release the film in theaters.

Jay Hernandez to Star in Film Adaptation of Humberto G. Garcia’s Book “The Mustang Miracle”

Jay Hernandez isn’t afraid to play the long game…

The Mexican actor and Magnum P.I. actor will star in the film adaptation of Humberto G. Garcia’s book The Mustang Miracle.

Mucho Mas Media, Endeavor Content and Bonniedale will finance and produce the inspirational period golf feature, which will be named The Long Game. Physical production will begin this month.

In addition to Hernandez, The Long Game will also star Jaina Lee Ortiz, Dennis Quaid and Julian Works.

Based on a true story set in mid-1950s Texas, the film spotlights five young Mexican-American caddies at a local, exclusive golf club where the discriminatory laws of the era forbade them from playing. Out of their love for the game, they created their own homemade course in the Texas desert and, with the help of a resilient Latino coach, went on to overcome the challenges of racism and discrimination to beat the wealthy, all-white teams to win the 1957 Texas State High School Golf Championship.

“As a company committed to celebrating and telling meaningful stories about the Latinx community across all platforms, we are fortunate to be able to reteam with Endeavor Content, Bonniedale, and Julio to bring this moving story to life,” said Mucho Mas partner and producer Javier Chapa.

Chapa will produce with Bonniedale’s Quaid, Laura Quaid, and Ben Howard along with Marla Quintana. Jay Hernandez, Phillip Braun, Jason Gerber, and Simon Wise will serve as executive producers alongside Bruce Barshop and Vincent Cordero.

The project reteams the producers and director behind the 2021 hit Netflix Original drama, Blue Miracle, starring Quaid.

“We could not be happier than to reteam with our Blue Miracle partners on this ‘50s-era story that personifies strength, guts, and determination by the young men the film is based on. Their inspiring triumph to overcome prejudice and break barriers has inspired golfers of color, both professional and amateur, for decades to come,” stated Ben Howard, Producer and Partner at Bonniedale.

Julio Quintana will direct from a screenplay by Quintana, Paco Farias, and Jennifer C. Stetson.

Lisa Vidal to Star in the Crime-Action Heist Feature “Shelter”

Lisa Vidal is sheltering…

The 56-year-old Puerto Rican actress will star in the crime-action heist feature Shelter.

Vidal joins a cast that includes Cam Gigandet, Jaina Lee Ortiz, Carlos Miranda and Hollywood newcomer Sasha Merci.

In pre-production, filming is scheduled to start shortly in Los Angeles on the movie about the head of a secret organization who assembles a crew to steal back artwork from a neo-Nazi billionaire oligarch who plundered it during World War II.

Produced by Jolene Rodriguez of Broken English productions and financed by Ruben Islas’ Grandave Capital, the film is an original screenplay by Michael Corcoran, directed by Anthony Nardolillo.

“I’m thrilled to work with such a talented group. I’ve followed many of their careers and to make a movie with them is such a privilege. Shelter is a great example of taking any script and making it inclusive. It takes effort but it’s possible and it matters,” said Rodriguez.

Vidal has starred on ABC’s The Baker and The Beauty, BET TV series Being Mary Jane and Grey’s Anatomy.

Ortiz will star in her fifth season of Shondaland’s ABC series Station 19 after a successful run in Fox’s Rosewood and a consequent role in Shooter.

Miranda will join the cast of ABC’s Station 19 as a series regular in the coming season and has had recurring roles in Amazon Original series Bosch and Comedy Central’s Ana as well as being a series regular in Starz series Vida.

Merci recently starred in the HBO feature film De Lo Mio.

Ortiz Lands Recurring Role on USA Network’s Drama Series “Shooter”

Jaina Lee Ortiz has landed a new role…

The 30-year-old Latina actress has landed a recurring role opposite Ryan Phillippe on the second season of USA Network’s breakout drama series Shooter.

Based on the best-selling novels by Stephen Hunter and the 2007 Paramount Pictures film starring Mark Wahlberg, Season 2 follows the journey of Bob Lee Swagger (Phillippe), a highly decorated veteran who must confront a nemesis from his past in order to return to a life of normalcy.

Ortiz will play Angela Tio, a Marine and part of Bob Lee’s former unit. Tio holds her own with the guys and is one of the few people who knows Bob Lee well enough to keep him grounded.

Ortiz can currently be seen starring opposite Morris Chestnut in the second season of Rosewood. She previously played one of the lead roles in Amazon pilot The After and also starred in indie features Misfire and Laid Out.

Shooter Season 2 premieres July 18 on USA Network.

Montana to Appear on Fox’s Drama Series “Rosewood”

Everything’s coming up rose(wood) for Manny Montana…

The 33-year-old Latino actor has landed a recurring role on Fox’s drama series Rosewood.

The Miami-set medical procedural follows top private pathologist Dr. Beaumont Rosewood Jr. (Morris Chestnut) and tough-as-nails Detective Annalise Villa (Jaina Lee Ortiz) as they investigate the East Miami Police Department’s most challenging cases.

Montana, best known for his work on USA Network‘s Graceland, will play Marcos Villa, brother of Detective Annalise Villa, who just finished his third tour in the Army. He’s recently returned to Miami but we have yet to find out exactly why he’s there.

Montana, who’s currently a series regular on ABC’s legal drama Conviction, has also appeared on Lucifer, The Following, Power and Grimm.

Fox Renews Ortiz’s Drama Series “Rosewood” for Second Season

Everything’s coming up Rosewood for Jaina Lee Ortiz…

Fox has given a second season pickup to its freshman drama Rosewood, starring the 29-year-old Puerto Rican actress and dancer.

The series stars Morris Chestnut as Dr. Beaumont Rosewood Jr., a private pathologist working in Miami, Florida, in high demand with law enforcement.

Ortiz portrays Det. Annalise Villa.

Rosewood, from Temple Hill and 20th Century Fox Television, was created by Todd Harthan. It’s executive-produced by Harthan, Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen. Richard Shepard served as director and executive producer on the pilot.

“With Rosewood, creator Todd Harthan has put a fresh, playful spin on the procedural format, infusing it with wit and warmth, while Morris, Jaina and the show’s gifted supporting cast have turned in fantastic performances,’ said Fox’s David Madden

Rosewood averages 7.8 million total viewers across platforms.

Ortiz to Star Opposite Morris Chestnut in Fox’s Untitled Todd Harthan Drama Pilot

Jaina Lee Ortiz is ready to see dead people…

The Puerto Rican actress has been cast as the female lead opposite Morris Chestnut in Fox’s untitled Todd Harthan drama pilot.

The closed-ended procedural, written by Harthan and directed by Richard Shepard, centers on Dr. Beaumont Rosewood Jr. (portrayed by Chestnut), a gifted, charismatic private pathologist who can read living and dead bodies like a book.

Ortiz, a newcomer out of New York, who got her break when Chris Carter cast her in his Amazon pilot The After, will play Karissa Villa, a former NYPD detective who recently moved back to Miami and ends up helping Dr. Rosewood.
