Shakira Makes Red Hot Debut at This Year’s Met Gala, Earning Best Dressed Honors

Shakira is celebrating a red-hot red carpet debut on fashion’s biggest night…

The 47-year-old Colombian Grammy-winning singer/songwriter walked the steps at the Met Gala for the first time on Monday, looking stunning in red as she climbed the stairs.

Shakira, 2024 Met GalaShakira donned a spicy red gown by Carolina Herrera that gave off a flamenco vibe with its dramatic train and cape detailed with voluminous ruffled sleeves resembling an abstract rose.

The look also featured a sexy high slit at the leg, an open back, a low-cut sweetheart neckline and skin-baring cutouts on the sides. Adding a touch of sparkle, a diamond starburst ornament with a matching red stone was pinned to the front of the dress.

Shakira — who posed on the red carpet with Carolina Herrera creative director Wes Gordon — accessorized with simple red platform heels and a diamond rope necklace. She wore her long hair down in natural waves, and kept her glam simple and understated.

Bad Bunny, 2024 Met GalaBad Bunny, who served as co-chair of the Met Gala this year, blended personal identity, cultural homage and fairytale fantasy, perfectly encapsulating the “Garden of Time” dress code for the event in his red carpet look.

His striking look consisted of a custom outfit from the Maison Margiela Artisanal Collection by John Galliano. Benito’s ensemble was laden with symbolic and cultural references; it featured a black satin corset and a navy barathea wool smoking jacket adorned with black grosgrain lapels. The jacket’s stitching was notably unusual, with an inside-out appearance that added an avant-garde twist to his attire.

Complementing the look was his gigantic beret made of blue foam paired with tiny sunglasses. This choice of headwear added a dramatic flair that was both whimsical and fashion-forward.

On his feet, the “Me Porto Bonito” singer sported shoes that were no less unusual — they were crafted to resemble the shape of a goat, further enhancing the eccentric, storybook theme of his outfit.

Adding a personal touch and a nod to his heritage, Bad Bunny carried a black Flor de Maga, the national flower of Puerto Rico, which symbolizes the island’s bravery and resilience during challenging times.

Jennifer Lopez, 2024 Met GalaJennifer Lopez, another co-chair for the event, stuck to her signature luxe bombshell style for fashion’s biggest night. She walked the carpeted steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in a ravishing sheer gown dripping with rhinestones and silver pearls. Designed by Daniel Roseberry, the custom Schiaparelli haute couture piece had a dramatic sculptural neckline, whose branchlike elements jutted out to the sides. It was draped and slitted at the front with illusion tulle, and had a train that pooled around her feet.

The strapless sheath gown was made with over 2.5 million silver foil bugles and beads, and took over 800 hours of hand embroidery to create.

J.Lo paired it with silky champagne peep-toe heels, a massive diamond necklace in the shape of a bird, diamond bracelets and drop earrings, a silky envelope clutch, and a messy topknot.

Karol G made her Met Gala debut embodying this year’s theme “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” in a sheer, crystal-embellished Marc Jacobs gown.

The 33-year-old Colombian singer elevated the structured, floor-length piece — and leaned further into fairycore — with prosthetic fairy ears, ethereal makeup and platinum locks that fell to her waist.

Karol G told Vogue that the event “was the perfect opportunity for me to express how I love fairies and dreamy vibes and fantasy.”

“And this was the world I wanted to go with, with Marc Jacobs, who is the designer of the dress,” she added.

Colman Domingo, 2024 Met GalaColman Domingo paid tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman and André Leon Talley at the event by wearing a cape that extended from his jacket, which he paired with wide-legged pants.

“They both wore capes when they were at the Met,” Colman told E! “Everything I do, I feel like it’s gotta be for the culture. It’s gotta be more than just for me.”

He continued, “I wanted to honor these brothers who were here before me as well.”

The Rustin actor honored the Black Panther star and the late Vogue journalist at the Met Gala. Colman’s suit was designed by Willy Chavarría and kept on theme carrying a bouquet of lilies.

Rosalia, 2024 Met GalaRosalia made her big return to the Met Gala, keeping her look simple, yet sophisticated with a black strapless gown by Dior that she paired with a chic veil.

“Embodying lady Dior. Embodying Maria Grazia‘s eyes,” she told Vogue‘s official red carpet co-hosts Gwendoline Christie and Ashley Graham at the event.

“I’m wearing all black because when I heard about the theme I heard it was about Sleeping Beauty. I was like, ‘What is this for me?'” she continued. “I thought about dreams. When you fall asleep, you close your eyes, you see black, you see darkness. That’s the prelude for the dreams. Today, I’m celebrating Dior and I’m a black tulip. By the way, by the way, Stephen Jones did this headpiece.”

Her look took over 1,800 hours of work to assemble.

Omar Apollo, 2024 Met GalaOmar Apollo stood out in a sharply tailored black suit by Loewe, epitomizing vintage chic.

Camila Cabello, 2024 Met GalaCamila Cabello channeled sophistication in a slit bronze-colored Ludovic de Saint Sernin gown complemented by Ring Concierge jewels and a blonde ponytail.

Rauw Alejandro, 2024 Met GalaRauw Alejandro opted for a gleaming metallic shirt paired with a silk white blazer, adding a touch of sleek sophistication.

Cardi B, 2024 Met GalaCardi B stepped out at the Met Gala in the largest dress ever seen at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

The Grammy-winning rap superstar donned a voluminous black dress that surrounded her on the carpet. She also rocked a matching beehive-style headpiece to add height to her look and the most luscious green jewels to match the greenery of the carpet’s backdrop.

Her appearance at the event, which featured the dress code “The Garden of Time,” marks her fifth showing at fashion’s biggest night.

Jennifer Lopez’s “This Is Me… Now” Debuts at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales Chart

Jennifer Lopez is livin’ in the chart-topping Now

The 54-year-old Puerto Rican superstar has earned her third No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart (dated March 2), as her new studio album This Is Me… Now debuts atop the tally.

Jennifer LopezLopez was last at No. 1 more than 20 years ago, when J to Tha L-O! The Remixes spent two weeks atop the chart in February and March of 2002. She scored her first No. 1 on the list with J.Lo in 2001.

In the tracking week ending February 22, This Is Me… Now sold 14,000 copies in the U.S. Of that sum, physical sales comprise 11,000 (6,000 on CD and 5,000 on vinyl) and digital download sales comprise 3,000. The album was available in four CD variants (including one that had a signed insert), nine vinyl editions (all were color variants, including one with a signed insert) and three digital album variations (a standard version, a deluxe edition with two bonus tracks and a commentary edition sold via Lopez’s official webstore).

This Is Me… Now also debuts at No. 1 on Top Current Album Sales, No. 1 on Tastemaker Albums, No. 7 on Vinyl Albums, No. 7 on Independent Albums and No. 38 on the Billboard 200.

Top Current Album Sales ranks the week’s top-selling new/current albums (non-catalog/older titles). Vinyl Album tallies the week’s top-selling vinyl releases. Tastemaker Albums measures the top-selling titles at independent and small chain record stores. Independent Albums ranks the most popular independently released albums of the week, by units.

On the Billboard 200, This Is Me… Now marks Lopez’s 13th total chart entry and 11th top 40-charting effort. It’s her first studio album in nearly a decade, and her first release outside the major label system, as the new set was issued via Nuyorican/BMG.

“This is the first step of an immediate strategy with a long-term goal as the incredible content to support the album continues to roll out,” says Cyndi Lynott, SVP marketing at BMG, “including the This Is Me…Now: A Love Story Amazon Original, a documentary entitled The Greatest Love Story Never Told, and of course her massive summer tour.”

In total, This Is Me… Now marks Lopez’s ninth top 10 on Top Album Sales and 13th chart entry overall. The new release is a sister project to Lopez’s third album, This Is Me… Then, which was released 2002 and peaked at No. 2 on the chart.

Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart ranks the top-selling albums of the week based only on traditional album sales. The chart’s history dates back to May 25, 1991, the first week Billboard began tabulating charts with electronically monitored piece count information from SoundScan, now Luminate. Pure album sales were the sole measurement utilized by the Billboard 200 albums chart through the list dated December 6, 2014, after which that chart switched to a methodology that blends album sales with track equivalent album units and streaming equivalent album units.

Jennifer Lopez Releases Official Music Video for “Can’t Get Enough” Remix Featuring Latto

Jennifer Lopez just can’t get enough of her latest single…

The 54-year-old Puerto Rican superstar has released the summer-ready video for her remix of “Can’t Get Enough.”

Jennifer Lopez, Latto, Can't Get EnoughThe new visual cooked up by JLo and director Tanu Muiño for the bouncy first single from the singer/actress’ upcoming This Is Me… Now album features a guest verse from Latto, with both women taking it to the street in the dance-heavy clip.

In keeping with the narrative arc about love addiction in Lopez’s upcoming This Is Me… Now: A Love Story Amazon original film, the new video opens with Lopez getting harassed by a group of sharply dressed reporters bombarding her with probing questions. “’What are you chasing?’,” one asks, while another wonders, “‘What’s it all about?,’” and a third inquiring mind shouts, “‘Jennifer, what really matters to you?’”

Lopez’s answer, of course, is “Love.”

Cue the track and Lopez writhing in a gauzy white robe on a bed — with a killer view of the city through her giant picture windows — as she stares lustily into a mirror. The camera then follows Lopez outside, where she walks confidently onto a city street, loses her tan jacket and struts through the middle of traffic. This, naturally, leads to a literal Jenny From the Block dance routine, with Lopez and an impromptu group of male dancers busting moves in an intersection.

Lopez then slips under a dinner table on a night out with her man, crawling across the floor sensually while also walking toward Latto on a soundstage, with both women dressed in deep red, body-hugging dresses. “Call the doctor, I don’t see nobody but you/ Do I still love you? Baby, is the sky blue?/ Spoil a b–ch down and he faithful to me too/ You know you the reason why they hatin’ on me, boo,” Latto raps as Lopez rubs up on her.

The rest of the video appears to compile footage from the short film, much of it consisting of Lopez in various thong-baring outfits, including a sure-to-be-GIFFed sequence in which she takes an outdoor shower in a black string bikini for an audience of shirtless hunks floating in a reflecting pool.

The original version of “Can’t Get Enough” was released on January 10 as the first taste of Lopez’s long-awaited ninth studio album, which will be released on February 16. An accompanying film directed by Dave Meyers will hit Amazon Prime Video the same day.

Jennifer Lopez Teases Wedding-Centric Teaser for “Can’t Get Enough” Music Video

Jennifer Lopez is headed to the altar…

With the release of the 54-year-old Puerto Rican superstar’s latest single “Can’t Get Enough” and its accompanying music video imminent, J.Lo shared a teaser clip from the wedding-themed visual, as well as the release date for the track.

Jennifer Lopez“Can’t wait for ‘Can’t Get Enough’ in [two] days!!! #THISISMENOW The wait is almost over…” she captioned the video, which features her in full bridal gear engaging in classic wedding activities among different grooms, from exchanging rings and saying “I do” to sharing the first dance as a married couple and driving off to the honeymoon in a convertible getaway car.

While she has a couple of different grooms in the teaser, her partner Ben Affleck is not one of them.

“Can’t Get Enough” is the first single to be released from Lopez’s forthcoming album This Is Me … Now.

The “Let’s Get Loud” singer first told fans about the album, which serves as the follow-up to 2002’s This Is Me … Then, in November 2022. The album marks J.Lo’s first album since 2014’s A.K.A.

Speaking about the album in her 2022 Vogue cover story, Lopez described the album as the “culmination of who I am as a person and an artist.”

She added: “People think they know things about what happened to me along the way, the men I was with — but they really have no idea, and a lot of times they get it so wrong. There’s a part of me that was hiding a side of myself from everyone. And I feel like I’m at a place in my life, finally, where I have something to say about it.”

This Is Me … Now is scheduled to release on February 16, 2024.

Jennifer Lopez Among Hollywood A-Listers Donating Seven-Figure Checks to SAG-AFTRA Foundation’s Emergency Financial Assistance Program

Jennifer Lopez is helping provide financial support to striking SAG-AFTRA performers.

As the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes continue, the 54-year-old Puerto Rican superstar is among a list of some of the most influential names in the entertainment industry who are giving hefty donations to the SAG-AFTRA Foundation’s Emergency Financial Assistance Program.

Jennifer LopezOn Wednesday (Aug. 2), SAG-AFTRA Foundation president Courtney B. Vance announced that the Emergency Financial Assistance Program has raised more than $15 million in the past three weeks. The SAG-AFTRA foundation has served as an independent charity since 1985, and provides relief aid to eligible SAG-AFTRA performers in unexpected financial crises.

Lopez and hisband-actor Ben Affleck are among the top donors who’ve given $1 million or more. Others include are Nicole KidmanHugh Jackman and Deborra-lee Furness, Oprah WinfreyMeryl Streep, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Julia Roberts, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively and Luciana and Matt Damon.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was the first to donate a seven-figure sum, Vance previously announced in late July.

According to Vance, “The entertainment industry is in crisis and the SAG-AFTRA Foundation is currently processing more than 30 times our usual number of applications for emergency aid. We received 400 applications in the last week alone.”

While top-earning actors such as Lopez — who has had a successful career in music and film — and husband Affleck have ample economic security, this is not the case for the majority of working actors, hence their decision to strike. Vance continued, “Our Emergency Financial Assistance Program is here to ensure that performers in need don’t lose their homes, have the ability to pay for utilities, buy food for their families, purchase life-saving prescriptions, cover medical bills and more … For more than 38 years, the Foundation has been a safety net for our community during its most challenging times, and much like the COVID pandemic, this work stoppage magnifies the precarious living conditions and financial distress of many actors living paycheck to paycheck.”

Members of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA are demanding a larger share of streaming residuals, increased job security for writers, larger writers’ rooms and a limit on the use of AI in screenwriting and background acting among other negotiating points.
