Peacock Launches Irene Escolar’s Drama Series “Dime Quién Soy: Mistress of War”

It’s War Time for Irene Escolar.

Peacock has launched international drama series Dime Quién Soy: Mistress of War, starring the 32-year-old Spanish actress.

The project is based on Julia Navarro’s bestselling novel.

The streamer has released all nine episodes, in celebration of International Women’s Day. The series is streaming in both English and Spanish.

Created by José Manuel Lorenzo and written by Piti Español, Dime Quién Soy: Mistress of War tells the story of Amelia Garayoa, a Spanish socialite who is suddenly plunged into the world of international espionage. Set in 1934 amid a turbulent Europe, Amelia leaves behind her family to join the fight for freedom. When Amelia is enlisted as an international spy, intrigue, war, love and espionage quickly become the center of her life placing her in the middle of the most important events in the history of 20th century Europe.

In addition to Escolar, the series stars also stars Pablo Derqui, Oriol Plá, Will Keen, Pierre Kiwitt, and Maria Pia Calzone.

 is produced by Movistar+ and Telemundo International Studios in collaboration with DLO Productions. The series premiered December 4 on Spain’s Movistar+, Telefónica’s digital subscription platform.

Eduard Cortés serves as the series director.

Penelope Cruz to Reunite with Antonio Banderas for the Spanish-Language Film “Competencia Oficial”

Penélope Cruz is proving her competence…

The 45-year-old Spanish actress is set to star opposite Antonio Banderas in the Spanish-language feature Competencia Oficial, which is due to get underway in Spain at the end of February.

Veteran Argentine actor Oscar Martínez will also star.

Banderas and Martínez will play actors with very different track records whose methods clash during the preparation for a movie financed by a notorious and over-eager millionaire. Cruz will play the film’s prestigious but eccentric director.

The film is co-written and co-directed by Argentine filmmaking duo Mariano Cohnand Gastón DupratAndrés Dupratalso scripted. 

Additional cast includes José Luis GómezCarlos HipólitoKoldo OlabarriIrene EscolarNagore AramburuPilar Castro and Juan Grandinetti.

This is the latest project to feature Cruz and Banderas…

They most recently starred in Pedro Almodovar’s Pain and Glory. They’ve also starred in Almodovar’s I’m So Excited.

A release date for Competencia Oficial has yet to be announced.

Escolar Signs with ICM Partners

Irene Escolar is one step closer to taking over Hollywood

The 27-year-old Spanish actress, who won the Goya Award for Breakthrough Performance by an Actress for her first starring role in Lara Izagirre’s romantic drama An Autumn Without Berlin, has signed with talent and literary agency ICM Partners.

Since winning a Goya Award, Escolar has since gone on to star in a vast array of roles in Spanish film, television and theater.

Her other film credits include AltamiraThe Broken Crown (playing the same role she did on the television show).

She also appears in the upcoming film adaptation of the Calderon de la Barca play Life Is a Dream.

Her television credits include the series Isabel.

Escolar is a sixth generation actress of Spain’s great Caba/Alba acting families and an alum of The London Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. She has worked extensively on stage.

She continues to be managed by Carlos Bobadilla and Brandon Guzmán of Valor Entertainment, and represented by Majós Martínez in Spain.
