Morrison to Headline Austin’s Pachanga Latino Music Festival

The 26-year-old Mexican pop-rock singer-songwriter, who won a Latin Grammy last November for best alternative song, will perform at this year’s Pachanga Latino Music Festival next month.

It’ll be Morrison’s first appearance at the festival, which will be held on May 10 and 11 at Fiesta Gardens in Austin, Texas.

In addition to Morrison, other big name performers for the sixth installment of the festival include Intocable, Los Lobos and 3Ball MTY.

Intocable and 3Ball MTY will headline on Friday night, while Morrison, Celso Piña and Enjambre are among the main acts on Saturday night.

The bill also features Grupo Fantasma, Vallejo, Este Vato, Gina Chavez, Como Las Movies, Bang Data, Susan Torres y Conjunto Clemencia, Selena y Los Burritos, Miranda Gil and Anthropos Musicians Collective.

“We are so excited about the line-up this year,” says Rich Garza, founder of festival, in a statement. “The addition of Carla Morrison and Enjambre to this year really brings us up another notch. We love that we can showcase all this music from Mexico, Austin and beyond.”

Tickets are on sale in one-day, two-day and VIP packages. Specially-priced general admission tickets start at $39 and are available with the full line-up at the Pachanga website.

A portion of all proceeds will benefit the FuturoFund Austin charity.

Mars Receives More Grammy Attention!

Bruno Mars is apparently one of the Recording Academy’s Grammy golden boys…

After scoring seven nominations last year, the 26-year-old part-Puerto Rican singer/songwriter has scored six nominations for the 54th annual Grammy Awards, including nods in the three top categories.

Mars’ “Grenade” is nominated for record of the year honors—which recognizes performance and production—along with Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep,” Bon Iver’s “Holocene,” Mumford & Sons’ “The Cave” and Katy Perry’s “Firework.”

In addition, Mars’ I’d-die-for-your-love tune is up for song of the year, along with Kanye West’s “All of the Lights” (featuring Rihanna, Fergie and Kid Cudi), Mumford & Sons’ “The Cave,” Bon Iver’s “Holocene” and Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep.”

Meanwhile Mars’ “Doo-Wops and Hooligans” is nominated for album of the year, along with Adele’s “21,” Foo Fighters, “Wasting Light,” Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” and Rihanna’s “Loud.”

Mars also received nominations for Best Pop Solo Performance and Best Pop Vocal Album.

Rap superstar Kanye West led the field with seven nominations, while British soul singer Adele received six nominations.

Other Hispanic musicians and acts receiving nods include Fergie, Christina Aguilera, Calle 13, Maná, Intocable and Pepe Aguilar.

Lovato Singing at the Latin Grammys…

She sang the national anthem for an international audience at this year’s World Series… And, now Demi Lovato is set to perform in front of Latin music superstars.

The Latin Recording Academy has confirmed that the 19-year-old part-Mexican singer/actress will perform at the 12th Annual Latin Grammy Awards.

There’s no official word on what song Lovato will sing at this year’s awards show—which will take place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas on November 10—or if she’ll tackle singing in Spanish.

Earlier this year, Lovato performed her hit “Skyscraper” in English and Spanish at the ALMA Awards—even though she doesn’t speak Spanish.

Meanwhile, other confirmed performers include Pablo Alborán; Alex, Jorge Y Lena; Intocable; Los Tigres Del Norte with Paulina Rubio; Black Eyed PeasTaboo; and Wisin Y Yandel.

Hip-hop duo Calle 13 lead the pack of nominees this year with a record-breaking 10 nods, including Album of the Year, Best Urban Music Album for Entren Los Que Quieran, and Song Of The Year for Latinoamérica.”

The Latin Grammy Awards will be broadcast live on Univision at 8:00 pm. ET.
