Aloe Blacc is locked and unloading

The 35-year-old Panamanian American singer-songwriter joins Snoop Dogg, Jhene Aiko and an ensemble of entertainers, sports stars, actors and business leaders for a new anti-gun campaign.

The #ImUnloading initiative encourages people to scrutinize their 401K retirement savings plan to ensure their funds aren’t invested in the firearms industry. It’s the work of the Campaign to Unload and States United to Prevent Gun Violence, two not-for-profit groups committed to reducing gun violence in America.

“I’ve gone to juvenile detention centers and met dozens of young kids, babies really, who have been affected by gun violence,” says Blacc in the video.

“How I’ve been affected by gun violence over the years is through deaths of friends and family members and associates,” comments Snoop Dogg in a promotional video for the project. Aiko adds that she was held at gunpoint as a 5-year-old in a home invasion.

Organizers of the project have set up a website at unloadyour401k.com where users can check if their retirement funds may be invested in gunmakers, and make a move toward a “guns-free 401k.”
